Changes v Geelong Rd 2

Yeh I don't think he should come straight in but he normally does appear one or two weeks ahead of what the injury list indicates so that's why I included him in brackets.

Perhaps Harves had him in his DT last year and couldn't afford to have him sitting on the bench any longer.

That's so Harves! Always thinking of his DT!

Would love to see him back ASAP. I just think he would have lost too much endurance not being able to run for the last 6 weeks.

OUT: JVB, Pitt

IN: De Boer, Silvagni/Faulks (sub)

I have a feeling that Geelong are going to try and go tall in their forward line banking on their midfield to get enough possession and bomb it in. Mooney, Pods, Hawkins, Ottens etc..

We only have Grover and McPharlin as tall defenders so I think we need either Silvagni or Faulks to be available.

Apparently Silvagni is out for another 2 weeks with weight loss from the infection, which probably means he'll be an option next week.

Not sure if Faulks is ready?

This is another reason why we need Anthony in the team IMO. He can play KPD if needed, unlike Kep and Johnno who are better suited to a floating tall flanker role.

Anthony plus one of Kep/MJ makes us more flexible than having two guys playing the same role.

I tend to agree. Plus we all saw how much coming off an ankle injury affected Suban and McPhee last year, can't afford to carry too many underdone players.

Yeah I agree on Anthony just on scoring power alone. I was guessing with Silvagni/Faulks. MJ and Keps will both be in the team.

JVB and Pitt are the ones to be dropped. Pitt will get bounced around like a rag doll against the Cats. Perhaps Michie will get a go?

I was surprised Michie didn't get the nod for round 1. IMO Michie earned the debut with a great preseason. But Harves loves to give new players at least two weeks in the big time so wouldn't be suprised to see Pitt line up. I agree that he probably shouldn't though.

Well there you go. Good to see DeBoer back :thumbsu:

Does anyone know whether the sub has to be someone named on the bench?

Or can it be anyone in the 22?

Errr why the hell is Arm dropped? That is the stupidest thing ever.

Isn't there a rule that if you're concussed you have to miss a week? Or maybe that was a rumour when this rule first came in.

Not that it's at all likely Palmer will start on the back blank, but seeing his name there gives me an uneasy feeling he's somehow cosmically traded career paths with Nick Lower's from when he was at Port.

I'm sure Selwood's still 50/50 to actually play, they're just giving him until the last minute to prove he's suffering no ill effects. If he fails to pull up he'll be replaced by an emergency.

With your boy Sandilands, I'm surprised we bother fielding any ruckmen at all.

good point lolz

really think we will get overwhelmed with the height geelong could put forward

hawkins mooney pods ottens

hoping the long bomb isnt too damaging, with chap stevie j and stokes crumbing the ball :(
tbh though not all of those will be forward at once and their defence pressure might be very much to be desired

anyone gonna try and pick the opponents for their forward
