Smack kicks 5...against Sturt. Johnson kicks 7...against Sturt. Johncock kicks 7...against Sturt. I don't live in SA and am not really up on the SANFL but I'm starting to think that kicking a bag against Sturt is about as reliable an indication of form as, say, beating the Bulldogs by 8 goals.

Seriously, don't get me started.

You raise a valid point, Vader but don't you think Lyons form over the past year warrants selection for McKay.
Two TOTALLY different player so NO! If you are looking to drop Mackay then you would be looking at Brodie Martin and possibly even Tambling as his replacement.

You are removing a line breaking run and carry player with pace and replacing him with an inside midfielder that is on the slow side.

Don't get me wrong, I like Lyons and I think he should be given a chance but it won't be at the expense of Mackay. We lack line breaking run and carry players as it is and we are not going to replace the little we do have with another plodder.

Like me I reckon Petrenko doesn't really know what he is supposed to concentrate on. Does defence come first or is he primarily there occupying a forward position and thus is expected to kick goals? Is he required to scream around the forward 50 trying to pressure all and sundry with desperate acts of harassing actions that stretch his role to thin ineffectiveness? How can his position be so incomprehensible, so tenuous that coaches have claimed he will be a victim if rotations are curtailed??? Sure lets have some pressure on the opposing backmen and have a plan to keep the ball in our 50 but lets not compromise the position entirely. Pets is struggling because his role is iffy and he sees his job as making everybody and everything in the 50 area as something he has to throw himself at with unstructured abandon. We are not getting value from his position/role, and I don't think it is his fault.

Smacks 5 goals will provide the selectors with the perfect justification to bring him in at least to provide an option with Jacobs.

Bring in Lyons and play Jaensch FORWARD!

As I said earlier I would play the BLING in the F/Pocket

Lyons has to come in regardless of Walker's injury, if good/great form is being rewarded then he has proven he deserves his chance. Pick from Petrenko/mackay/henderson to replace. Henderson may be safe though as I can see him having a role in a new-look forward line. Jaensch is worth a look as a permanent forward. Assuming Brown misses one game I think it's possible to see the changes as Walker/Brown (inj) OUT with mackay/pets a chance to go out and for the INs Lyons (Laird gets Browns spot), McKernan (he had his best SANFL game the right time for him) and I can't see Porplyzia not being immediately recalled to be a main target up forward. Tambling could be a chance for the back pocket spot too as well as Johnston for a forward role. It depends on what the coaches want in their forwards (pure lead up or ruck help).

Lyons is definitely a candidate for our plan for outsourcing the development of KIDS.

Acouple of years with Melbourne and then we get him back when he has 50 games under his belt.

If the choice is to go with a twenty year old KID (well technically too old to be a kid now, where have those last two seasons gone?) or
A) The unfit former small defender who is being reinvented as a 30 year old forward
B) The non-tackling 30 year old small forward who can really make his occasional possession count (except in finals)
c) The very skillful one armed small forward who can't tackle
D) The skillful but lazy midfielder who turns up every fifth game whether he needs to or not

The answer is E) All of the above.

Let's also drop Kerridge because he didn't take Judd apart and I also thought Laird was a bit quiet in the first quarter.

This whole post is pure gold, but the way it ended almost had me in tears. I think I might love you.

Gutted for you blokes and Tex. We've got our own share of injuries to deal with and him being out is massive for us this week but the bloke is just awesome to watch and to be out for the season is shattering.

Take your trolling somewhere else you muppett. Hopefully you can beat us without another mammoth armchair ride champ!
Not trolling, i think Franklin needs to pull his finger out, his output yesterday wasn't very good, if you're good enough to beat us than do it.

Genuinely think with Tex going down we cannot make top 8 and should maybe look to take a short term pain, long term gain approach with our players. If our midfield was firing and smaller forwards bagging the goals then i would say we'd still be a slight chance. But simply put, theyre not. Crows have a serious amount of work to do with our forward structures and our whole midfield fullstop. Getting some decent game time into some youngsters could serve us very well for 2014. Jenkins for example could learn a lot from tex going down and this year could be a huge learning curve for him and turn him into a much better player.

But for next week, I think Mackay needs to go for a stint in the SANFL. And what the **** is Reilly doing, he was disgraceful on the weekend, surely he has to be out based on that performance.

In: Lyons, Johnston, B.Martin
Out: Mackay, Tex, Reilly

I believe in always striving for finals, but managing expectations at the same time.

This means that we shouldn't just "try" stuff and just play players to "find out".

Players still need to earn their spot and the structure must be proactive. Seeing Sando's moves after Tex went down gives me confidence. Without our key forward we must still find a structure that works. But to get the youngsters to develop we need some experience around them, Porps could be this....

This year just turned into a rebuilding year, but I don't want to see it built Richmond, Melbourne or GWS style. We need the youngsters to experience some success through their development.

Fwd Porps, LJ, Jaensch
HF Vince, JJ, Lynch
C Dougy, Thommo, Smith
HB Otten, Talia, Mookay or Reilly not both
FB Laird, Rutten, Pets
Ruck Sauce, Danger, Sloane

Int Hendo, Kerridge(Sub), Smack, Wright

We can probably flirt with one of Reilly or Mackay being dropped. But we are getting dangerously inexperienced with VB out but younger guys making rookie errors and working on them is better than Reilly making rookie errors and not learning.

One positional change I would like to see is Brodie Smith moved from back half and into the midfield. In under 18s he was a clearance machine and this is what we are lacking at the moment. Not only that but he will add speed and a booming kick into the forwards.

Assuming Brown is okay...

Out: Walker, Reilly and Mackay/Henderson (pick one)
In: Johnston, McKernan and Lyons

Jenkins permanent forward.

Pets and Jaensch to swap ends.

Vince to play Reilly's role. Gives our defence some experience and (hopefully) accurate kicking. Maybe giving Vince a defensive role will get him to play with a little more focus and intensity?

Smith to play as a midfielder. We need clearances.

Jacobs gets another fortnight to find form, otherwise he's out. This gives Smack a couple of weeks to get used to the AFL again before he becomes our lead ruck.

Petrenko, Rutten, Brown
Otten, Talia, Vince
Douglas, Thompson, Smith
Wright, Jenkins, Lyons
Jaensch, Johnston, McKernan
Jacobs, Dangerfield, Sloane
Int: Laird, Lynch, Kerridge, Henderson/Mackay (either can be the sub)

He's already lazy as a mid/fwd... I'm sure he'd fall asleep at half back.

He's got no intensity!!!

Get Kerridge out of there you blind bat- offers nothing but a follower. We need taggers that can get at least some offensive ball. Wright or VB and thats it. We have too many restrictive mids that why we are getting slaughtered in middle.

It's was great seeing young Brodie Smith back in action on the weekend. Talented young player who had a break-out season last year. No doubt he has been sorely missed during the first few Rounds of the season. He was an intregal part of the Crows back six structure last year.

PS: I have a man crush on Matthew Wright. :p:D
dont know why- very overated on big footy- does not hurt you with possession

In: Lyons, Tambling, Johnston, McKernan
Out: Brown, Walker (inj), Kerridge, Petrenko (omit)

Tambling has to come in so we can move Otten forward and also because I would just like to see an actual defender in our back 6, even if it's only for one week so we can all see if it works for us, like it seems to work for the other clubs.

F: Otten Johnston Jenkins
HF: Vince McKernan Jaensch
C: McKay Thompson Sloane
HB: Tambling Rutten Henderson
FB: Smith Talia Reilly
Followers: Jacobs, Dangerfield, Douglas
Bench: Lyons, Wright, Lynch, Laird (SUB)
Hawthorn are also struggling for tall defenders with the loss of Schoenmakers, so we space out the F50 and put two talls there. Johnston leads from the square as does Jenkins who takes the F50 taps. Otten runs back into space as he did on the weekend, as does Jaensch.

McKernan's role is to lead up the ground the same way Tex was doing early this year and provide a tall target to aim at 1:1, rather than crashing packs in the F50. The hole he leaves at CHF is for LJ and JJ to lead into, and for Otten and MJ to crumb/run onto ball over the back if there's no lead on or the loose man has dropped back into the hole, so we have an out, instead of landing it on his head.

Where does Graham sit? We got him, might as well look at him - can he be any worse than Sauce has been?

Danger is a solid target up forward too - and he's getting tagged to buggery in the middle. Do we use this as a fall back? Or maybe move Truck forward?

Not sure whether to throw it all in and just get as many games into the kids as we can.
