The club has players like Banfield and Blakely on the list, and is actively turning Fyfe into a forward. Conca is available as a big body in the midfield. Apart from that they have shown an ongoing fascination with half back flankers, snagging a record three with our first three picks of the last draft.

Yes, the club needs more available rucks on the list, especially as all three of ours have shown themselves to be injury prone. Is anyone surprised Lobb and Darcy are injured? Most of Meeks career has been on the injury list.
As far as the rucks are concerned.....

Lobb I am gutted he is injured. He is a 2nd ruck that can kick 30-35, possily 40 goals a season. Not saying he is the main man but a goal kicker we need.

Darcy like most ruckmen, you knew it would take 3-4 years to develop that frame of his. the guy played 20-25 AFL games in his 1st 3 seasons. To a small degree he was thrown at the deep end. But when the 2017 season ended, he went from 4th in line behind Sandi, Griffin and Clarke to 2nd behind sandliands when griffin and clarke left the club.

He also learned from from a ruckman that when is fully fit, is an Elite ruckman in Aaron Sandilands. When you think about it. If you knew Sandliands has only 3 years left, get 2 or 3 rucks in 1 or 2 drafts then rotate them. You are looking 3 years from now or 66 games from now. Not a bad Idea having a couple of 21 or 22 year old rucks with 30-33 games each under the belt or 3 young rucks Rotated with 20-22 games each with one as a KPF/Ruck.

As for Meek. I dont think Most of Meeks career has been on the injury list. Didnt look like getting a game in 2018. Even though he was 3rd behind Sandilands and Darcy. I sort of wished he got a game or 2 last season. Did ok in the WAFL in 2019 but was injured late in 2019. Dead certain he would of played vs Port in round 23 if he was fit. He would of got a game or 2 in 2020 if he was fit too.

Saying that.... I wont be suprised if he plays 20 games this season. Should of played 3-5 games already prior the start of the 2021 season.

The problem with always having a completely f’ed injury list is that it means there’s virtually no pressure on blokes to perform because who will replace them?

Ins: Fyfe Treacy Sturt Logue
Out: Acres Meek/Darcy Schultz (inj) Young (inj)

Blakely as sub, Henry to the wafl

Put Fyfe back in the middle. Surely a forward line of Treacy, Sturt, Frederick, Walters, Switta and Tabs can get the job done.

I am not prepared to write off JL just yet. He’s a senior coach in his second season. That said, our performance in round 1 and round 3 has me questioning his ability to get the boys up for away games. Time will tell.

Still a long season ahead of us fam, strap yourselves in.
Well we did win some away games last season even though it was in neutral areas in Queensland.

I am not prepared to write off Justin Longmuir yet either. I want to see J-Lo at least see this season out.

On the bright side, AB is now good enough to get tags, he'll work through it and get better as a result. Cerra needs to step up in these situations
Yes and yes
Would still like to see some bigger guys going through there sometimes. GWS was ok because they don't have a really big midfield iirc, but against certain other teams we need to rethink things until the young guys get a bit stronger. If Valente ever gets on the park, he would help...with Fyfe of course.
Without seeing a replay, it seemed like our young guys were very proactive and didn't seem to have any thoughts of being more accountable around the stoppage. Might just be by instruction because Justin did say during the game that he didn't want them to become too reactive. I did seem a little overdone though.

I don’t have a problem with using two rucks per se but the Darcy and Meek combo is not a great balance, and especially with a forward set up where they are one of our only go to talls.

There would be entire continents relieved neither of them are currently anywhere near the Suez Canal.
Again..... I dont have a problem playing both Darcy and Meek.

But here is the Problem....

You drop one of them, which one will you drop? Darcy on a good day is easily a 30 hit out a game ruckman. Meek has worked hard and waited 3 full seasons to play a dockers game and Looks decent too.

You drop Meek, he has shown a bit but Darcy is clearly the superior ruckman at the moment.

All good points. I doubt we would finish low enough to receive decent picks and we don't have many tradable players. We need more class in our team and need to be less reliant on injury prone players. That's why we need trade capital but our options are limited 🙄.
The best way to get class players is high picks. Nobody is giving you high picks for injury prone or **** players. We just have to draft and develop our own. So the only way to get good picks is to trade out good players which defeats the purpose.

We have to draft them and be patient.

fu** giving guys a run at Peel. Sturt, Treacy along with Fyfe, Logue and Crowden potentially being available? You can't afford to give them a run at Peel. Bring them in now.
Yeah fair enough, but Sturt only played part quarters from what I gather. Peel was probably a good idea for him.

While the injury news is good, there is no way all of Crowden, Treacy, Sturt and Logue come in, we'll be lucky to get 3 of them.

IMO Sturt is so far ahead of any other options, I'll take Sturt on 60% game time any day of the week

I think Sturt, Treacy & Fyfe will come in. Logue will play at Peel I reckon. Meek, Schultz and Young out. A few very lucky not to be dropped but lack of replacements will save them.

I will be very happy if we see a much less conservative Longmuir and co at the selection table this week.

Can see them still picking two rucks - only because we can probably get away with doing it against Hawthorn. Will think it is a mistake (more for the future) like I did only having one change last week but won't go on a tirade when it happens.

I'm still expecting at least 4 changes. Two are forced, surely two more isn't a stretch?

That's incredibly foolish of you. Don't rush the young fella in. He hasnt got the body to rush back in to play the big boys, especially coming off an injury and as our potential kpf. I'm glad your not the coach

Sturt looks about 2 x the size he was when he debuted last year going off the WAFL highlights. Dont think another week of Peel is going to make any difference personally

I think the problem is plonking them in a forward line where they are part of the main show rather than a support act. They don’t have the mobility, forward nouse, or the marking power for that role.

I thought he tried to come up the ground too much. Opposed to another ruckman, is one thing , but to do it against a mobile defender didn't work at all

If Fyfe and Sturt come in, they can be more a support act.

Also, sincere question, were GWS that bad because it worked okish against them?

Regardless of his size, if he ain't match fit don't rush him back because we have a depleted forward line, that's not his problem. If he not even playing full minutes at WAFL level he's simply not ready

We can definitely play Sturt on managed time like many other clubs do. Logue being available for 'minutes' means being played In the WAFL. So best case scenario is Sturt, Treacy and Fyfe.

We could of used Valentes bigger body in the weekend or the fact that if he was in the team the opposition wouldnt even know he was there.
What are the chances of a debut this week?
give Valente a game this week in the WAFL then let him debut next week in his home state in SA vs the crows
