According to the Casey player report Fitzpatrick took 9 marks playing up forward so he's certainly stepping it up.

It sounds like he is getting close to a Dees call up and with Sellar struggling to make a tangible impact the stars are aligning for JF.

The week before he kicked five in a half in the development league.

I'd bet anything Watts won't come back in this week; one week out serves no purpose IMO.

Spot on with selection.... Would love to see fitzy and Cook play a lot more towards the later part of the year for their development. Just get them in the side and give them a 4-5 week block, to see what they are about. They are better as lead ups, so this will help Clark a lot more than Sellar is...

Also looking forward to seeing Strauss back in the fray in a couple of weeks. Before he snapped his let thought he looked like the elite kick we badly needed coming off half back.

Blease may push for a recall with another solid game in the VFL.

Obviously hard for him up forward with our current tactics, needs to build his engine for the wing.

Harsh. They rushed him back in to the side after injury and made him a sub in one or the two games he played. Needs a few more to build up the fitness and gets the touch back. If he is still struggling after that then fair enough but he is safe for the time being.

I'm withe Striker in saying that I would love to see Fitzpatrick get a crack this week. He has been in very good form and deserves to be rewarded.

correct on both accounts.. Syl needs to get some match fitness up.. has a good record against the hawks so will back him in.. his goal kicking and kicking in general are so important to us..

would also love to see fitz in.. hawks rucks are fairly poor and we all no about there shitness down back do could be a great week to throw him in.. let's face it he can't be worse than Sellar..

There is some talk on the Hawks board about buddy and hodge being doubtful. Would make life much easier.

How many times as Melbourne supporters have we seen a big out or two for the opposition and thought "that makes life easier" only for us to go out and get belted by 10 goals?

Very, very interested to see the way the club goes this week. Couch, Bennell and Fitz are the three men in the best form so I'm keen to see who the club rewards with a call up.

Franklin would be 50-50 i reckon. No way will they risk him against us if he has any sort of query.

I hate to be so negative, but I am not excited about Bennel's reported good form. I just have this feeling that if he gets a call up it'll be the same inconsistent low impact game from him.

I doubt they will leap to the idea of resting players being 3-3. The last thing they would want to happen is losing to us and being 3-4.

You may well be right mate but if the bloke is in a good run of form then he probably deserves a call up, just like we hope Fitzpatrick gets a look in.

I can see where you're coming from Stretch, and it has happened plenty of times in the past, but I think if the guy has been playing well consistently, he deserves a run. Hence why I think Watts needs another week, sure he played very well one week in the VFL, but I'd like to see him really show that he deserves to be playing AFL and string together a couple of great performances.
