All bullshit aside, I think North would be a pretty good bet this week
Yes I'm a one eyed Eagles fan but can still tell when we are over the odds
North have taken the Hawks/Cats/Pies to the line while this West Coast
side is still yet to find any where near last year's form. I'm just saying
Spending $500 at 4/1 for North would not be the worst bet made this year

North Melbourne 13.9 (87) Collingwood 15.13 (103)

Geelong Cats 16.16 (112) North Melbourne 17.6 (108)

North Melbourne13.14 (92) Sydney Swans 20.11 (131)

North Melbourne 18.17 (125) Brisbane Lions 9.8 (62)

Hawthorn14.15 (99) North Melbourne 13.18 (96)

North Melbourne 14.9 (93) Port Adelaide 12.11 (83)

Western Bulldogs 15.7 (97) North Melbourne 22.19 (151)

Collingwood and Sydney aren't playing great footy at the moment. Geelong and Hawthorn were better performances, although they failed badly to concede that lead against the Cats. They weren't too crash hot against the Dogs or Port though, they really should've beaten the latter by more.

Agree with your thesis however that we could easily drop this.

Have it on very good authority that Masten was not injured for the lions match, but missed due to a faint illness. Media built it up as a injury.
All the best :)

Yeah mate, most of us already knew this :thumbsu:

Out: Smith, Dalziell, Brennan
In: Waters, Masto, Kerr

Hutchings as the sub.

Best team we have fielded all year. :D

Think we would lack pace down back tbh.
Yes that would be an issue. Brennan should stay in the side, wasn't that great on the weekend but was very good the week before. Smith got to the right places on the weekend but his disposal and decision making was awful.

Strong avi synchronicity.

I can't remember the last time we beat someone half decent on the road. Those were good performances but they were in Melbourne and Port was disappointing... in Tasmania. We should have beaten them by 10 goals.

I am nervous about this game because for whatever reason, we just haven't been able to get our shit together on the road.

Good to hear! :thumbsu:

Think we would lack pace down back tbh.

Maybe, but on the weekend North played Hansen, Black, Daw, Petrie, Thomas and Harvey. I am confident we can control the pace in that.

North's back-line (Atley, Sierakowsi) is where the 'pace' issue comes into it. If we are on are game with the forward press we should win easily.

An alternate view of the team:

In: Kerr, Waters, Masten, Sinclair
Out: Brennan, Smith, Hutchings, Sheppard

Glass Mackenzie Waters
Hurn Brown Schofield
Rosa Priddis Gaff
Masten Sinclair Hill
Darling Kennedy Lecras

RR NN Scooter Shuey

INT: Cox, Kerr, Wellingham SUB: Dalziell

Did anyone else have a heart attack when Cox went down. I was also concerned whether NN was pushing his recovery. He now states: "I pulled up pretty good. (I have) a little bit of soreness but I miss that soreness, so I'm not complaining about it, I'm smiling that I've got that back. I'm getting there slowly,"

Why wear your rucks down? Keep them fresh for the season, use three. Sinclair up forward also takes the pressure off Darling. With this arrangement Darling kicked 5 goals against the Dogs compared to 1 goal against Brisbane and 1 against Port. It creates serious problems for opposition backs. It also helps keeps NN fresh to play that ruck / midfielder role. Sinclair improves us in the air. NN took one mark against Brisbane and one against the Dogs as a sub. Sinclair took 3 against the Dogs and 6 the previous week. to quote Woosha, (Sinclair is a) "threat". He should be used. Yes we would be tall but who was it who said that "a good big man will beat a good small man".

if nicoski is playing even in the wafl, wouldn't that mean sinclair is off the main list anyway?

As much as I hate resting players, if there is ever a time for Cox to get a rest it's next week against GWS. If he's sore and struggling I'd support a rest next week, with the rest of the team getting a rest in round 12.

I agree and i think we should rest him and get him all fresh and ready for the tigers the following week. We would have to use Lycett over Sinclair as he will back on the rookie list. Will be good to give Lycett a game for his hard work over the last month since going back to the WAFL.

I thought Sheppard was good - why do want him out?

You're also removing 2 backs, and replacing them with 1.

It's hard to keep good players in the team when you're replacing them with better players. I fear that one of Dalziell or Sheppard will find themselves very unlucky this week, as both did enough IMO to retain their spot in a normal week.

Kerr in for Hutchings
Masten in for Sheppard or Dalziell (preferably the former)
Waters in for Smith
McGinnity (if fit enough) in for Brennan

If McNugget isn't fit, and Butler is, that'd be the change for me. If both are fit, I'd lose Schofield.

Pace (ie Brennan) in the backline is no good if he can't defend or use the ball. Thomas will give him a bath.

As for Smith, the next time I hear he should be retained because of his pace in defence, I'll lose it. Off the training track, he plods like few others.

I'd also start Gaff as sub this week given those changes.
