Gardner keeping his spot is awful. He is one of the worst players I’ve seen pull on the jumper.

I agree. Would've rather had Young in defence over Gardner, but maybe he's improved on aspects in training since round 1? Gotta trust the selection committee on that one...

I otherwise love the look of our defence. Right balance of speed, height and rebounding.

I like the Gowers return. Not sure I like having what is basically 4 marking medium forwards in Lloyd, Gowers, Wallis and Dale, but we'll have to see how it goes.

Cavarra probably doesn't deserve a spot over the others but it does balance some things out if he stays in.

I think it's fair to keep Cavarra in. Giving a bloke one game, where the midfield doesn't give him any chances to play his role, then dropping him is a bit harsh.

Really? We have only name 2 tall forwards and 2 tall defenders with one ruckman on the ground. That’s considerably less than last game.

From the few times I have seen him in the VFL he seems to have the tools interesting too see if he can make the transition

I was hoping for the same and also wondering about Schache and McLean. McLean surely fits into the team, Schache I can understand not playing for balance of talls but I'd still like to see him in there.

And how is Gardner still in this team. Easily on par with Cameron Wight as the worst player I've seen pull on the jumper.

For me the issue with gowers in is where is the point of difference in that forward line? Wallis, dale and gowers all play fairly similar and none seem to have great speed. It just looks like a mark it or have it rebound type forward line. I think you can only play 2 of gowers dale and Wallis forward, Lloyd picks himself and then you need a cavarra Richards weightman or west for balance

I really dislike this default 'must have dirt' theories regarding team selections.

It's a joke of course but every day it gets more plausible.

Definitely happy with Gowers. Gives us a bit of mongrel and attitude. Hopefully he can get into some good form, looks to be in good shape.

Would like Schache in the 22 but I guess they’re really making him work for it. Won’t be bad for him.

Prefer Lewis Young to play ahead of Gardner in the backline. I don’t think Gardner is horrible but Young could be a very high level player. Rather he get the experience.

Gowers is physical, I like him at HF. Jong is physical but dumb, hes near 90kg but gets thrown around like a ragdoll.
