Watch Neade set up half a dozen goals against Sydney next week.

Neade to Wingard to goal. :thumbsu:

I wasn't particularly happy with his game yesterday, but that's what you can get with Jake at the moment. I expect him to bounce back.

So for me:
IN: Lobbe
OUT: Butcher

I reckon Monfries has to start. I like White as the sub next week.

So what happens when we have 2 tall defenders that can run off lobster and Schultz?
Why would our defenders be playing on Lobbe and Schulz?

Ok who are Sydney going to match up on Lobster and Schultz and will said match ups provide run out of defence for Sydney? [emoji6]
That's better. :D

I'd say Richards would go to Schulz and Grundy to Ryder/Lobbe when down forward. So I don't think we need to worry about them running out of defense.

Only for match up reasons... let krak go forward n grey / wingard to the middle

I wasn't convinced Impey should be in the side after pre-season due to up & down form. But after the game he played last night there's no way he's getting dropped. He shut down Ballantyne and had impact going forward. I actually thought it was his best offensive game he's played for us.

If he doesn't play defence surely he's put pressure on someone like White to take a wing or HFF spot.

And as someone mentioned earlier Gray spent all of last night in the middle or on the bench, so a forward coming into the lineup wouldn't free him to go into the middle. If you want that, Young is the man as he and Gray could rotate fwd and mid.

I wish he hd played badly Might have got a spot in round1
Nobody will get called up from the trial game against a div 1 team.
Lobbe and maybe an emergency will. That's it.

Their performance against South Adelaide will be a different story.

Under the pump this week at the selection table should be
Neade, Butcher, Monfries and White.

Absolutely he should be.

Monfries needs a whole game, not 1 qtr. Agree with the other 3 though.
Monfries needs to concentrate on going for the ball and not playing for frees when he isnt match fit.

Lobbe in, Butcher out. Monfries full game, White as sub.

Paddy will be most effective when he's forward/second ruck. I want to see this.

surely Monfries is best 21? or will he feature a lot as sub?

I am expecting only one change this week

Lobbe in

Butcher out

Butcher is not going to get a game when we are at full strength. That is why he needs to make the most of his opportunities. He started off well last night but died out of the game. He did not cement his spot for next week. Plus we can't be too top heavy up foward.

I actually think Young instead of Neade is a good call. I appreciate Neade had one off game and is a good defensive crumber but playing Monfries for a full game and bringing in Young gives us another midfield option and allows Monfries/Winguard/Gray to rotate through the midfield and forward line.

If we are playing 3 talls in the forward line we need the extra midfield rotation and Neade cannot provide that yet. Also with several under done players with limited pre seasons, the extra run will be handy.

There's no way Monfries is under the pump this week.

He isnt a sub, he isnt match fit and playing for free kicks when he should be going for the ball wont cut the mustard against a tight Sydney defence. If he isnt under the pump at selection committee this week, then our selectors arent doing their job properly.

To be fair, Monfries was in his right to expect the whistle to blow at least two times when he got mawled but he didn't get any. Neade was by far our best, his decision making in the heat of battle was all over the shop yesterday, it might just be he wasn't mentally ready for a round 1 that tight but he should go if any smalls go. If Lobbe is fit then Butcher would be the logical to make way as he was the emergency but he played alright and doesn't deserve to be dropped on performance. Pittard was also one of our best, taking the game on and getting caught is something I can live with because we weren't going anywhere if he didn't do it. Decisions like that when they come off could win us games and he was outstanding for the rest of the match.

I agree and certainly think he should have made way for Young against Freo, the other underdone 4 were worthwhile punts.

Who do you replace him with? Moore has the same issues bar the playing for frees, Mitchell and Stewart are different players and Young may come in for Neadey.

Out: pathetic choking in front of goal.

In: forwards with some work rate and composure when having a set shot
