Palmer needs a week or two in the WAFL. His confidence is shot but get him right leading into finals.
Bolly - what was with those panic handballs :(

In: Sandi/Clarke, Walters/Schammer
Out: Bolly, Palmer

Is Pearce injured? Clarke was the only one that played anygood today so no others really in the mix.

Dodd can play a role down forward.

Well, we'll certainly need a forward with a strong defensive mindset to close down Jack. Would prefer it to be De Boer, but if he needs to go to someone like O'Keefe then there's a slight chance for Dodd to get his ton.

I'm ruling out Roger as I reckon he'll be swung forward again in Ballas absence.

Out: Johnson (delist), Palmer, Morabito (footsteps)
In: Sandilands, Mayne/Dodd (to play forward), Schammer

Brades, you have just made a complete idiot of yourself (Not for the first OR last time) to suggest that we bring in our worst in relation to disposal speaks volumes. Dodd up forward??? Are you on crack? He is a terrible kick, not to mention that he is as slow as can be. Not to mention that his papers are stamped 'Never to return'.
Schammer is like Dodd in relation to his disposal and is also stamped.

I noticed that you are not Delisting McPhee this week. What is the matter? Dont tell me that you thought that he was good today (which he was). Delisting Johnson, well that is just flat out stupid (which suits you down to the ground) we need the height and he is not a ruckman. He is far better as a forward, straight kick with good marking skills.

Outs-Bollenhagen, Morabito.
Ins- Sandilands, Walters.

Put Barlow back out there. Still a better chance to win than the 22 hacks that took the field today.

You know i saw Barlow today there at the game and had a quick convo with him. He is in such high spirits and just wants to get back out there...

He was even hobling around on his crutches during the pre game warm up out on the field with the others. What a legend. :thumbsu:

I can't wait for his return ...next week!!!

Possible Ins - 2 from:
Sandilands, Silvagni, Mayne, Pearce, Ruffles, Headland
Only if they are fit!!

Outs in order:
Bollenhagen (still developing), Mora (give him a rest)

Out: Johnson (delist), Palmer, Morabito (footsteps)
In: Sandilands, Mayne/Dodd (to play forward), Schammer

So basically you want to go against the policy of playing the youth against the guys who've had their turn.

I mean Dodd and Schammer have played how many games this year? 3 total I think.

Guys like Bollenhagen, Crichton, Fyfe, Morabito, Pearce, de Boer, van berlo, Silvagni, Barlow all chosen ahead of Dodd/Schammer/Murphy/BoB (Injured though) but you want to go back on that and select the blokes who probably won't be here next year......

Somehow I don't think the selectors are going to do that.

What youth is there left? You've got Ruffles who is still on the comeback trail from a knee injury, Silvagni who is injured, Pearce DNP so I'm assuming he is injured, Hall and Bucovaz are also injured. That leaves Sibosado and Hinkley as the two youngsters who aren't injured/coming back from a serious injury.

You can't just keep playing out of form players in the league side, just because all you have left is Dodd, Murphy and Schammer as backup. They have to get their form back through the WAFL as they won't get it back in these last three weeks of the season.

Did you see the way that Palmer played? Schammer would be instantly better as he doesn't have a shoulder problem so he can lay one of his normally good tackles (he's a known tackling machine) and his disposal/decision making is just as good. Palmer needs another week off, he was really poor.

As for Dodd, down forward his disposal isn't as bad. He can play a negating role on say Malceski, Kennelly or Mattner and potentially kick a few goals. He isn't slow - don't know where you got that from, so he can tie them down and be strong on the lead. If He's kicking inside the F50, it hardly matters compared to kicking out of the D50.

And lol @ the Johnson comments. I know he's not a ruckman, but neither is Bradley but he managed to put in more than a half arsed effort. Johnson looked like he just wanted to game to be over so he could find the nearest pub and get smashed at, without the team. His kicking is bordering on WAFL Reserves level and his marking is below that.

Ins - Sandilands if not fit by some chance then Clarke, Mayne?, Snos?, Walters.
Outs - Bollenhagen (needs a bit more time) Mora (for a rest)

I've heard a whisper that Sandilands is out for 3 weeks

That's what you'd expect with this type of injury... if it is true.

A month of very very light duties.

I actually agree with you almost completely Brades. There's a first for someone doing that though I guess.

I haven't seen any of our games in about a month, but it would appear from stats we're really really lacking some shut down and defensive midfielders and forwards. On top of every other type just about, but that especially.

Crowley's loss has been significant I feel and we haven't been able to cover it. Over shadowed by the Barlow loss.

So I suggest bringing Dodd in for a purely purely tagging role, rather than as a defensive forward, which is why he was recruited and where he has played his best.

If we wanted another defensive forward to cover their HB line, I'd be incline to bring Schammer in, as much as I don't like saying that.

Don't have too many choices. :o

Dodd has little chance of negating anyone whilst providing any positive play. DeBoer can, Van Berlo is doing reasonably well but not as good. We need Crowley back quickly. Dodd's turnovers have killed our side in the past. Are you seriously suggesting that we include Dodd to increase our turnovers and decrease disposal efficiency? There is ZERO chance of Dodd creating any positive forward play let alone kicking a couple of goals and you know it Brades.

No doubt that Palmer is not having a good season but we still need his in and under work. The thing is that Schammer is not big enough to make an impact in and under, their disposal is about the same standard. We are certainly missing our A grade players and lacking a quality tagger (Crowley) is hurting us.

You are totally wrong on Johnson (Not sure if you saw the game yesterday-I was there) a goal and 5 marks while backing up in the ruck Johnsons disposal and marking is a HELL of a lot better than a lot of other players in our side. Besides, got any other 194cm back up Forward,Backman,Ruckman available? No, watch Clarke come in and again look like a 2nd year player with a future but not ready yet.

Next week is a must win for us and I am not sure how we will go. I am expecting Goodes to tear us a new one. I can only hope that we have Sandi back to help us all over the ground. Injuries are honestly hobbling us at this time of the year. Right when we need a good run.:(

If only we had some sort of ruck/forward playing in the WAFL. Preferably one who was averaging 15 touches, 16 hitouts, 6 marks, 3 tackles and 2 goals over his last five games.....

Johnson will play against Sydney, regardless of whether Sandilands is fit or not, because we're lacking tall options at both ends of the ground. And the coaches wont want to be forced to play McPhee deep in defence again. But that doesn't mean he should be playing.

I'd rather play Byron Schammer as Ruck and Full Forward than Johnson .Thats how shit he is.

And that is why you will never coach, play for or be part of management of a football team. Being so bitter will shorten your life and you are stuck in that slimy mudhole that is Adelaide. LOL.

Brades your bias towards some very important players in our team embarrasses yourself. McPhee, Johnson and Bradley have been (and played) vital roles for Fremantle this season. Each player however has cost us very little to recruit and the results have been excellent. If you were to put any of these of for trade and they would be snapped up. Without question. That includes Johnson. You need to let his mistakes remain in the past and concentrate on the positives that he brings to the team.

Supporters are meant to do just that (at least SOME of the time) what you bring to the debate is 100% negativity. Time to just let it go Brades. Lets be happy that we are not fighting it out for the spoon with West Coast. We are playing finals!

Rofl at Schammer being a tackle machine, 80% of his tackles are easily broken and he is shrugged away. Dodd being discussed as a foward option?

:o

No thanks.

Plus the 15% that are high or in the back...

Think Walters is a chance this week, as long as he's used as he has been at Swan's, I read earlier this year he's been trying to run to specific (Hill-like) patterns. Obviously not at Hill's pace.

Zac is probably not big enough yet, but think it would be handy to get games into him to see what he's capable of and let him settle into the ruck/forward role he's been playing at EP. It also free's Johnson (who I thought was ok yesterday) and Kepler to do their roles same as when Sandi is in.

He's been playing pretty well up forward since his Dockers game this year, and yesterday in the 1st half I saw, he made some terrific taps.
Maybe they left him at EP to play in the ruck this week, knowing he'd ruck more with Beeck missing for he Royals, before going up against Sydney next week?

If his fro was longer, dreadlocked and he wore yellow and blue he'd be the next messiah..

OUT: Bollenhagen (missed handballs, same as last week) Palmer/Hill (can he have been fit yesterday?? Seemed to be stationary at ball up's instead of on the move, playing into Rawlings hands.)

IN: Clarke, Walters

Hill needs to learn how to break the best tagger from opposition sides each week. The only way that he is going to do it is for him to be well trained, dedicated, gain experience in the heat of battle and gain the strong support of his team mates (E.g. Ablett). Hill as Palmer will get better with game time, Morabito is the same but being a first year player he does not appear to have anything left in the petrol tank.
Bollenhagen has some nice skills but he is not able to hold his tackles and create forward defensive pressure.

Therefore. This weeks outs - Bollenhagen, Morabito, Van Berlo (If Silvagni is available)
In's- Walters (he has earned his chance to take over for Ballas), Clarke (If Sandilands is not available) Silvagni (if available).

Our defensive was awful yesterday and we need greater midfield pressure with and improved ruck as well as a stronger big player up back (Silvagni). Once these things come together then we will be able to take on Sydney and play the way that we should.

His tackles are about 200% more effective than Mundy's. I'm surprised schammer wasn't given a run against North Melbourne, at least he can get the ball and handball, it's mostly his kicks and long decision making which are shit.

The midfield is just way too shit. A hobbling Palmer, Hill completely out of form, Morabito looking like he has a hang over, Mundy delivering his usual lack of defensive pressure. A VFL team could have beaten Freo on Saturday and that's pretty much what happened (North Melbourne are VFL quality).

Sandilands, the best ruck in the game, can just sometimes cover up the rotting corpse that is our midfield. Harvey should be thanking the stars he got Barlow because without him he wouldn't have a job next year. But if we can get another Barlow and get improvement in Palmer,Hill,Mora and Barlow we should be able to be top 4 quality next year.... maybe. Depends how the KPPs go, Pavlich, McPharlin, Tarrant all looking shakey.
