Prediction Changes vs. Brisbane

Out - s gray , Toumpas , Hartlett , impey

In - Howard , young , Houston , atley

Would consider doing ah chee for drew as well , although I thought ah chee looked very good when the ball was in his hands he had some great handpasses but just was a passenger far too much of the game. Drew is as defensive a midfielder I've ever seen. Noticed it when I watched him in the champs before we drafted and noticed it when I've watched magpies games on telly and live. He sets up at stoppages with a mind on his man not getting out and sticks near him in play. If he can run out a game we need to start to consider him as an option, far too many of our midfield get too loose on their opponents.

Also Amon back in asap when fit. Our kicking inside fifty is horrible.

Not being at the game it was hard to tell who the main culprits were that let their opponents off the leash though.

I'm also getting to the stage where I think all players over 25 bar Jonas and Dixon can be quietly shopped around and let go for a decent price and we start again with a Geoff Parker selected team that can run, defend and kick.

Id love Atley and Howard in .
Dougal to take over from Robbie Gray as a marking forward to go to while Robbie becomes loose again .
Atley in the middle to help get the ball out .
Out : Either Trengove or put him down back and drop Pittard or Hartlet .

Out : Toumpas with AhChee getting one more chance

Dropping R. Gray would be a fantastic statement, but he's a protected species and it's gross. Some of his on field behaviour the past two years has been filthy.

We've given Young ample opportunity at AFL level this season, I'd like to see him string consecutive games like today.

I think Atley is about due for a game too. Even though he's an inside mid, we need pace atm.

We don't have much pace to bring into our side from the magpies sadly.

White is just about done. Amon is injured and needed back in badly. Johnson has pace but constantly injured and needs to show he can run find more than a handful of touches.atley and drew are neither slow nor speedy.

There are changes we can and should make , but we do lack speedy midfielders who can find a bunch of the ball , use it well or be defensive minded. It's what we need to look for in the draft bigtime.

Trengove into defence to give us a backman with height and core strength and Dougal in tandem with Dixon?

What is this? Logictown?
This is so obvious.

Get Jacko back to KPD where he won a Cahill Medal and get Howard in now. We've been exposed by really tall forward lines more than once this year, and we have a 197cm gun defender playing the Toby Thurstans role.

Given there was a 200 point margin difference between the 1s and the 2s, I would expect a few changes under a different coaching regime.

Gonna be an interesting Thursday evening.

Might get off work early and prepare my nuclear lined undies for the melts.

Would it be too much to say that Doogs playing might be the deciding factor in some fence sitters deciding to come to the game?

We must must must use this opportunity to punish some underpeformers and send a message. It's Brisbane at home ffs.

If it's just Young for Toumpas, which realistically is a 55% chance of happening, I'm not entirely sure what the point of Port being a football club is.

Where do i book tickets for Thursday night ? I want front row seats to the melts when we the changes are

In Neade Young
Out Ah Chee Toumpas

We reward performance so I'd assume Howard is automatically in. If that is not one of the changes announced on Thursday night I am giving up on this team until Ken is gone.

So after today's SANFL demolition job on West.

Toumpas out for Young
Ah Chee out for Atley
Howard in for either Hartlett/DBJ/Broadbent and send Trengove to the backlines.

Problem is, to reward those SANFL performances, you have to punish poor AFL ones.

Out
Hombsch, Hartlett, Ah Chee, Toumpas and one of Boak and R. Gray

In
Howard, Young, Atley, Young, Monfries (if fit)

Well if what Hamish said on Footy SA is anything to go by Gus has just about had his papers stamped due to being 30 years old because "Ken will be more inclined to play the youth" mentioned Neade & Johnson who are playing similar roles.

This frustrates the hell out of me out of all our losses what was the key in driving the counter attack which chopped us apart time & time again? The loose rebound half back flanker Heath Shaw (massive last quarter), Mackie, Yeo (probably polls 3 votes) & last night old man James Kelly basically did what he wanted without anyone going near him.

Now what's the deal Ken? How can you not see the recurring issue with our forward line that we're far too unaccountable allowing the playmaker just create constant counter attacks & not bring in Gus who was and probably still could be one of the best forward line taggers to shut down players that have all but won games off their own boot?

Why is there even a limit to age I thought we were playing for a flag now? If age is a deciding factor might as well retire Boak now because he's not all of a sudden going to get back to his AA best playing the role Gus should be playing.

Remind me again *exactly* what Hamish said.

Because if it is just the bolded bit, the rest of your post is a great example of three things.

One, a classic vector of fakenews formation - paraphrasing a superficially impressive but ultimately unqualified person to support a pre-existing bias.

Two, hypocrisy: It's OK to bag Hamish's apparent on field performance while also taking an off field statement of his as a serious "proof" of something.

Three, ignoring obvious counter-examples that give the lie to conspiracy theories: Gus is a few months younger than White, a few months older than Westhoff.

Four, ignoring the self-serving subtext of Hamish's comments: "yeah I'm doing just enough, other folks are under scrutiny, not me". OK I might be stretching things myself here, but you can see how it all gets out of hand...

Don't get me wrong, I want Westhoff out and Howard in as soon as the next opportunity comes up (that would be this week). I cheered White's chance and lamented his injury. I'm pretty keen to see Houston back and **** me wouldn't mind if he replaced Hamish this week. And up until this week's SANFL riot I thought Monfries was likely to be back and end the Young/Toump/Neade rotating circus. I just think it's got nothing to do with any kind of conscious age bias, just that age and certain types of re-injury risks correlate.

My non-negotiable outs to not be melting are Hartlett and S. Gray. The two most easily replaced serial non-performers in our losses.

Ideally -
Outs - Hartlett, Broadbent, S. Gray, Toumpas all omitted, R. Gray injured (enough is enough, rest him and hope we make finals, this half a Robbie has not worked for a month now)

Ins - Howard, Atley, Houston, Monfries, Drew

Trengove takes the oppositions tallest KPF, Clurey the second KPF, leaving Hombsch his ideal role as on the third tall / intercept mark. DBJ, Jonas and Houston on the smalls. Pittard the +1 down back to break lines. Dixon CHF / roaming, Howard FF.

Yes, lots of youth, but I'd rather enthusiasm then senior lack of leadership.

If Westhoff didn't play last night we probably lose by 100. Bar a typically awful set shot he was back to his combative best in a midfield that was overrun.

Such an enigma.

Thinking on it, the lack of pressure, as we were getting flogged released the pressure on him. It's when it's on the line his mental demons kick in. It makes him a different case to the other serial non-performers in Hartlett, S. Gray and Broadbent, who are just unable to match it when the other side is any good. Still means he's no good for close games or finals.

It is very very disturbing indeed when you know that significant changes need to take place and you have a coach like hinkley sitting in the chair.
Instead of mixing it up and using your imagination to procure results it comes down to a crisis like this where significant decisions need to be made.
This coach is not in control of this clubs destiny, and we have a ceo calling for a 10 year tenor. This club is in strife imo.

Yeah, don't disagree. Kicked the goal of the year when the game was gone in that Geelong final too. Could've been a coincidence, but hey.
