I expect a melt free selection night this week.

With 4 players unavailable (Rankine, Rachele, Crouch, Ryan) and 14 playing in the SANFL yesterday that leaves 25 to select between. Last week’s 23 plus Michalanney and Pedlar.

Since Michalanney is a lock, that leaves selecting 4 of the following; Taylor, Bond, Smith, Pedlar, Draper and Dowling. It will depend on the structure we decide to use against the Pies.. Will we “tag” either or both of Nick and Josh Daicos? Will we use a loose man in defence?

My preference;
In - Michalanney
Out - Draper.

I would prefer that we use Michalanney on Elliot and give the Josh Daicos tag to Bondy. Zac plays his usual high half forward role in attack, Keays plays closer to goal and Dowling plays a combination of wing and half forward.

I was a bit harsh on Billy when I watched the game live. Watching the replay he did have a couple of poor moments but unlike most of our fringe players, he can find the ball.
I'd prefer Bond to take Elliot again since he did such a stellar job on him a few weeks back. Elliot wouldn't want to see Bond walking towards him again at the start of the game. "Oh no, not him again!"

Max can also be a forward threat against JDaicos which will hopefully make him more accountable and not be able to just attack at will.

Draper and Bond out for Pedlar and Max.

Bond has been fine but we are very heavy on defenders with Smith back in the side seemingly and Max taking his spot back.

Pedlar hasn’t had a great season but I like his hustle and pressure inside 50 and he is a reliable set shot.

Keays or Taylor to do a job on J Daicos.

Max for Bond
Pedlar for Draper

Smith the sub.

Wish we had a longer form line to trust Dowling but 2 goals in his first game for the year is good enough to keep his spot but boy could be a disaster.

Of those you mention, I'd play Taylor, Dowling, Smith, and Pedlar. Peds over Bond for structure, Smith sub

Elliott is a big game player and critical to Collingwood. I get Bond did okay but its a worry.

Disaster relative to what Rankine would give us, but not compared to others that have had a crack like Murphy and Pedlar. Very low bar.

I'm sure you know this, but he played on Elliot.I watched the match up closely, Elliot kicked two goals and on both occasions it wasn't Bond on him. When Bond was on him, Elliot didn't get near it.
🙄 I genuinely forgot whether it was him or Schultz

Given his marking power in what seems like it’ll be drier conditions, I’d be more inclined to match him up to Schultz this time round, with Max going to Elliott. That said, if Max plays on a Daicos (which he may well do if both are in the side), then I’d be happy to go the same matchup

Milera was on Elliot for at least one of them.

presumably we aren't selecting anyone who played twos on the weekend.
So put a line through Murph, Jones, Schoenberg.

Pedlar is too big a risk for mine.
I think it'll just be Draper out for Michalanney.

Either Max or Bond could do a forward tag on Daicos, so we wouldn't necessarily be too Defender heavy with that strategy.

Smith sub
