Saw Dowling having some rather animated talk with Godden.

Not saying it’s related but suspect he’s the one that made way.
Not surprising if Dowling is dropped ....he's not ready yet, and needs a harder edge

While I don't agree with him going out, I get it. Last in first out has always been a theme and Bond is the incumbent. Just almost confirms that Max will be forward IMO. At the end of the day I don't think Bond vs Dowling is going to be the difference whether we go straight to a prelim or not.

Playing 9 defenders and only 4 midfielders in our 23 is going to be a disaster.

With Rankine out and Dawson set to be tagged heavily, how do people suppose we actually win this game?

Berry/Soligo/Peatling is the equivalent of having a bunch of all rounders batting in the top four in a test match. All three have struggled against the top sides, leaving us to rely on Dawson/Rankine to win those games.

The only chance we have of improving that midfield is to play another wing and give Curtin decent midfield minutes. He's a big body, a great tackler and gets max value from his touches.

I don't care who that wing is, just pick one. We cannot afford to go back to the Campo four man midfield.

Which is why Dowling should be preferred ahead of Pedlar.

Having Michaelanny back in is a godsend, his versatility will be important especially with the use of the sub, if he starts, which he should, it means you can sub a defender or a forward and keep your structure by moving him forward or back.

I think there's a chance that we're overrating Max's value playing ahead of the ball. The sample size is tiny and was against very average opposition. Will be a bit different against the teams we'll be competing against over the next 2-4 games.

Our 23 is stronger this week than it was a few weeks ago against them.

If Bond stays in I would use him to play a hard tag on N Daicos and keep the other midfield rotations the same. Stop Daicos and we win.

Anyone concerned about us having a soft run into the preliminary final?

We get Collingwood at home, a team who has lost 5 of their last 7, we then get the week off.

Is this the best preparation for a prelim?
No such thing as perfect preparation for a prelim. You're either good enough, or you're not.

I don't think losing one of our 2 best mids and replacing him with a defender to play forward is an improvement. And if the other change is Pedlar for Murphy, that's not that big a win based on Pedlar's season so far.

Laird, Pedlar and Max all in are strong ins. Murphy had 4 touches last time, if Pedlar gets 10 touches at least 1 or 2 of them will be goals. Schoenberg is also another very good out, as he's nowhere near it.

Tom Cruise What GIF

If we win tomorrow, there isn't any better possible preparation.
