In: Shuey, Rioli, Barrass, Duggan, B.Williams
Out: West,JJones(hamstring), HEdwards, Hough, Dixon.
Love Hough but he is a stick not ideal against Pies. West for Shuey is a no-brainer. Rioli for JJ too given he was subbed with a "tight" hammy. Like Dixon but maybe BWilliams could benefit from some game time.

I couldn’t drop all of you, but I did drop a lot of you.

Out: Jones (inj), West (susp/dropped), Rotham, Hough
In: Rioli, Shuey, Barrass, Duggan

Backs: Hedwards, Barrass, Gov, Hurn, Witherden, Duggan, Foley
Mids: Shuey, Redden, SPS, Gaff, Naish, Nelson
Rucks: NicNat, Dixon
Forwards: Kennedy, Darling, Ryan, Rioli, Petch, Langdon, Ledwards
Sub: Hough
Emergencies: Rotham (traveling), Waterman, Williams

Would have liked to make a few more changes but some guys survive because (a) there’s not much left to come in and (b) making double figure changes every week isn’t helping the connectivity between teammates out there.

I’m assuming Jones is out since he was subbed off and it’s a short turnaround. West will probably end up getting suspended for that tackle on Tucker, even if he doesn’t he’d be close to the first out for Shuey.

Dixon in the ruck and around the ground was one of the few positives, not sure he can back it up against Grundy but let’s let him try.

Not convinced Gaff is right.

I like it. I do suspect that all of Gov, Barrass and Hedwards in against a small Pies forward line may be overkill however. Perhaps Hough or Rotham survive over Edwards.

Those four are solid ins across the lines - Barrass, Duggan, Rioli and Shuey.
We need a bit of Rioli sparkle, Ryan has been out of form.
But I imagine it won't make much difference to the outcome.
We're just not getting any consistency or chemistry with so many changes.
You could see how far down the run+gun path Freo are, compared to our game-plan (whatever it is?) And they were using the tried and tested formula to carve up our forwards and Govs intercept.
The Pies are another level...

Yeah but they are not going to be top class yet going to take time at least 3/4 weeks to get back into proper playing form....and that's the issue Simmo said it during the press conference do not expect the players coming back to be at there best....they are going to help but its going to take time

Actually I think he's been far from the worst. He at least seems to be trying to get to contests and put pressure on.

At times he doesn't get a fair run with the umps and that (understandably) frustrates him. He will be a far better player in a better side - especially with Rioli to share some of the pressure. He is being asked to be a key forward in the absence of good form from JK and JD (and any other forward) especially with the ball just being bombed in.

For me his only negative is much as he's a fabulous mark I don't like seeing him compete with the bigger forwards - a specky is great but it's not a percentage option.

Pies will kill us with leg speed on the vast wings of the G.

petch nowhere to be seen untill the games done and dusted.
Bruise free. Little in the way of footy smarts. Got to be getting to the stage where the MC are seriously questioning his future. I think his position would be up for grabs if someone else puts their hand up. But who?

With Ryan, Willie, Cripps, Langdon, Jones and Petch. We can not fit them all in tbh.

Id go with Ryan , Willie , Cripps & Jones with 2 able to rotate into the midfield.

Hurn Barrass HEdwards
Foley McGovern Duggan
Gaff Redden Naish

Naitanui Shuey Petrevski-Seton
Dixon Hough Nelson Langdon

SPS needs to stand up after a poor showing in the derby. Should attend as many centre bounces as possible, with Petch also running through there to provide some spark.

Hough and LEdwards are the future and should be given another crack. Bit of pressure on LEdwards in particular though with Kelly and Yeo due back soon

I think peach gets a game because he is quicker than Xon. He has been given all the time in the world to develop but just doesnt seem to be a footballer.
