For what it's worth, I'm questioning the Rhylee West selection, not Young or Cordy.

I am too. In my case, I think Roarke Smith should have been preferred. More mature body, fast, overhead skills with a leap, accurate shot at goal, tackling machine, great defensive zoner, just as courageous.

Young was very good last week. Very good. Trengrove worked hard and did a job all day, could be sore?
Young looks better than Trengove, more mobile and no clangers

I'm with you. I think Young's game last week showed he has gone past Trenners as the FB

If we insist on being consistent with our structure, as unpopular as I'm sure this would be, I would select Billy Gowers over Rhylee West in a heartbeat.

I 100% believe in the potential of Rhylee West, but with only 1 game of experience, I don't agree with playing him in a crunch game which is basically a final.

Gowers is going to Adelaide with Bailey Williams in a swap for Alex Keath.;):)

There was 8 of us coming over from Bendigo to Ballarat for tomorrow's big game....4 people just pulled the pin so there are 4 General admission Standing Room tickets for sale - $25 a ticket...any takers?

It's a fair point regarding West's inexperience in a big match but I look at it this way.

Our forwardline has been highly functional in recent weeks with a regular starting 5 of Naughton, Schache, Lloyd, Dale and Dickson all playing a productive role and each getting 1-3 goals consistently (the 6th member has tended to be a rotating mid, usually B.Smith or Maclean).

Of those 5, I reckon Dickson is the best at hassling the defence and applying pressure.

With him out, we primarily need someone to perform that function and contribute offensively as a bonus

I have no problem with the MC deciding that West is the best player for that role. He has certainly earnt the chance.

I reckon his instruction will be to tackle, harass and retain the ball at every chance. If he does that, he will have performed his role, with goals and score involvements a bonus.

He doesn't need experience to have a red hot crack. If anything his youthful enthusiasm may well be a positive addition to the mix

I’ve been waiting for Young all year. (Wanting him in for Cordy). But no way based on one performance you can say he has gone past Trengrove

Trenners is Robby the Robot the way he moves. Sorry, but Young is heaps more agile, higher leap, faster, better kicking action, gets the ball onto the boot quicker, can dispose of the ball without signalling to everyone in attendence exactly what thought process are going through his mind. Need I go on?

Aerial ability? After quarter time, I thought Young showed he can match it with the gorillas. And run away from them with ball.

Trengove has been a decent part of why we’ve been good later in the year. We still do have a lot of experienced dudes back there though so fingers crossed it’s okay anyway.

Dunks in the guts is a bigger reason we’ve been so good.

Let’s hope this is a hard, fun hit out. I can’t wait for my afternoon out in the fresh air tomorrow

They should absolutely get snapped up. Post on facebook too.

If still no takers, you can charge crows supporters double.

It seems likely the reason we got Trenners in the first place was to provide mature body cover for the likes of English and Young while they develop.

He's done a good job to date and Young appears to have come on a bit within this season through the VFL and training (not alone there in providing some evidence that our coaching and development staff might have a clue).

Anyway, these young guys are developing swimmingly and if Bevo et al think he deserves his spot and/or the potential benefit of playing Young in this sort of finals type game outweighs the risk Im onboard.

Generally I like Bevo's appetite for short term risk where he sees upside on the horizon (near or far).

Thought about it and came to the same conclusion. On paper I probably would have seen Roarke as the safer option but if West has been killing it at VFL level it makes sense.

He also has the ability to pinch hit in the middle and relieve Dunks/Macrae etc for a bit.

It’s a risk but he’s physically quite mature and will have a serious go.

Apart from any physical abilities he’s shown from the small sample we’ve seen, I get the feeling he has real football smarts. You can’t buy that
