Am I the only person that thinks Grant would have been pivotal in that game?
Particularly when Riewoldt went onto the wing
Correct, very annoyed he was dropped in the first place. Has clean skills, is quick and can find space. Would have been useful with his height today too. Obviously the coaching staff know something we don't...

Wallis, Boyd & Dale in

whoever is sore, get them out
it's tempting to bring in Minson against Sandilands
the guy probably could probably eat Cordy!

I think there will be enough changes this week without going head hunting. Smith sadly will miss, and there will be doubts on Stevens. Have to wait and see with Stringer.

I'm not sure why we couldn't win after building such a great lead at half time. I felt pre game that with Jong and Boyd out along with those already out that we were starting to stretch resources. But we came out and built that lead regardless, perhaps however it took too much out of them and being already depleted and once again 2 men down it all got too hard.

The boys when coming down the race had real steal in the eyes, they were as disappointed as any of the worst of us.

If we can conjure enough cattle we will take right up to Freo next week. Be interesting see who's fit next week. I fear we won't have enough cattle, but I have no doubt the effort will be there.

Out: Hunter

That's the only absolutely essential change (apart from Clay of course :().
Hunter's welcome back in the seniors when he can play with the ferocity, courage and defensive intent of his 43 teammates. Could be a while.
Toyd dropping chest marks had more to do with the loss than Hunter, who is not a backman anyway.

I didn't quite understand why he was dropped either. He's becoming a defensive weapon too.

After displaying solid form in the early season Grant was dropped. I'm sure there was reasons for this.

He then went back to the VFL and registered 2 Goals, 10 kicks, 9 handballs @ 68.4% efficiency with 4 marks, 3 tackles and 2 hitouts in the loss to Collingwood.

I think his pace, height, new found defensive pressure and versatility would have been invaluable today and I think he should play next week. I feel he can particularly be valuable if a KPP (etc Riewoldt today) gets moved onto a Wing.

Why throw Hunter & Hrovat out at same time? Both got obvious potential. How well has Dale done in the 2s?
Hunters defensive side is not at afl level was pathetic, hrovat maybe a bit harsh but just wasn't any good all day imo.
Dale had 28 and kicked 2 goals last week was travelling emergency the week before after playing well think he would be the perfect sub who can hit the scoreboard and provide run

if Wallis & Boyd both don't come back next week
Stevens pulls up sore for next week, obviously Clay injured
it'll me we will have to pick a couple out of
Caleb Daniel, Sam Darley (?), Shane Biggs, Declan Hamilton, Toby McLean, Bailey Dale, Jarrad Grant, Josh Prudden

out of that I'd definitely choose Dale & Grant
but we're really pushing our midfield depth now

Pretty sure Daniel and Darley are still injured

I believe Caleb returned this week, doubt he'd be risked in his first week back against the Dockers
but maybe you're right & he still injured, but I am certain the website had a video saying that he returned back to training

Could be 100% right but yet to play a game after the injury i believe

Looking forward to the little man making his debut I have high ;)hopes of him, but surely he'll need to spend some time in the 2s

Well a lot of changes injury dependent. I wanted Webb dropped last week for a rest and he was fairly ordinary yesterday. Our depth is being sorely tested but its also an opportunity to see how other players go.

But as a stab:

Out: Smith, Stevens, Stringer (all injured), Webb (rest)

Ins: Boyd, Wallis, Grant, Biggs

Realistically no-one beats Sandi in the tap outs so bringing in Minson after Cordy's best game (still ordinary but better) makes little sense. Cordy can rove to Sandi maybe, and then chop him up with his run ???

Particularly with injuries, I see little point in dropping Hrovat or Hunter, but frankly neither have impressed me at all, one can only hope they improve markedly. Honey can also be put in this boat. I hope Honey is sub as he needs a little rest.

Roberts' lack of pace is a worry as well...

Beast mode
great on defense, knows where to go
runs hard all day

Daniel will be playing at least two vfl games before coming back

I was about to write something similar.
Out: Stringer, Stevens, Smith, Webb, Roberts, Hrovat, Goodes
In: Redpath, Hamling, Dale, Boyd, Biggs, Grant, Wallis
I normally prefer 2-3 changes each week but there are injuries and some really poor form or tiredness.
MacRae as sub. Not going to drop him yet but he needs a rest.

This week's selection could be very messy. We have a number of players who are either injured, sore or just run down.
In: Wallis, MBoyd, Grant, Minson
Out: Smith, Stevens (couldn't walk at the finish), Hrovat (very disappointing), Webb (looked spent in the final quarter)
Comments on others:
Roberts should be dropped, just too one dimensional down back, but I suggest giving him a chance at CHF
Hunter was hopeless but should be given a stern talking to by Bev and told the non-negotiables of having physical intent (tackling, chasing, ball-getting - the works)
Oh, and God help us if Stringer's injured as well. Interesting night at selection.

Hrovat may need a break, but no need to kick Hunter out. He's still very young and he came on to play his first half of football in probably the worst half of football we have played this year. Give him another run, especially with Clay out. What about Cordy? I imagine it makes it bloody tough when he just can't give our boys first chance to get position. Could be a messy game though. Will be bruising again as against the Hawks.

I actually thought he might have been a point of difference, and he didn't have heavy legs from the week before.

For those calling for Fletcher Roberts to be dropped I am not sure why.

He did his job on Bruce who was in some form and he helped out other defenders at times with crucial contests.

To me he seems the perfect replacement for Morris for now.

Changes for me would be injured players Clay and Toby then maybe a couple of others who need a break.

In Grant Moyd and then I think Dale may need to be next in line.

Yeah I thought Fletch played ok. He was also ignored alone in the goal square at one point which would have been a certain goal for him too.
