Didnt play..was held back as an emergency.

I don't mind Underwood's voice, its more the fact she commentates like its the radio..someone needs to tell her that we are able to see the game also.

This is a very good point! :thumbsu: I wondered what it was about her voice - firstly I thought it was just the "shock" of hearing a female commentator but now you've said that, it's spot on. She's not a bad commentator by any means, but she is too "colourful" when she doesn't need to be. Does she have a radio background?

Kellie's voice really grates at me, I think it's the gravelly tone to it. I've always been funny about voices though :o

Really hard this week to make changes, unless we get a suspension. Walker in for Otten, with Stevens to go back (where he looked more comfortable yesterday anyway), but Edwards must come back in and there's just no room for him. I hate to think of Martin dropping out but who else can go out? Doughty and Reilly played fantastic games on the weekend, Douglas is already out, Shirley was useful and will be useful against the big bodies of Geelong, Symes' hardness is very useful, VB looked good... there's just no holes. It may end up being Martin just on the LIFO principal.

Life becomes even more difficult at the selection table if Otten comes up. I'd be tempted to give Stevens the week off to bring Walker in, just because he had difficulty getting in to the game last week but Stevens really doesn't deserve to go out on one quiet game (where he didn't really do much wrong). Alternatively, Stevens may really not be 100% and may still not be next week. Wonder if Davis would come in for him, or if they'd bring Edwards in for him and then reshuffle a bit?

Otten to come out injured, and if he's ok, I believe a rest could be in need.

So Otten out, who comes in for him?

As Geelong have a hurt backline, they'll be vunerable to smart forwards. So Walker in. Tippett will take the #1 KPD available (Harley, assuming Scarlet and Taylor are out), Porps will take the #1 small defender (maybe Johnson, Mackie) Knights to take the #1 mid defender (Mackie) which leaves Walker with a relatively inexperienced player. He should be able to showcase his talent once again.

Now Edwards come in, that's a no brainer. But who comes out?

Doughty? He provides a hard body, a new attacking mindset (as of 2 years ago), very hard crunching work, sexy pick ups, goals occassionally and youth. NO.

Symes? He is extreemly underated on here. Provides a crunching hard ball get player which will be sorely needed, 3rd man up in contests and the ruck and run and carry. NO.

Shirley? Provides great contested ball rowk, tackles, clearances and does a job each week. Now he's struggled on Garry at times, and he really needs to start getting the midset a bit mroe attacking so he's looking to hurt his player the other way, but with Ablett, Bartel, Corey, Chappy etc in their middle. He's too experienced to drop. NO.

Reilly? Pfft, did you watch Sundays game? NO.

Martin? Provides great run and carry, excitment and a very attacking mindset. I really like what i've seen from him, been very encouraging and is now a certainty to be upgraded. But as he's tweeked his knee he'll come under a bigger microscope. And it seems the last in is usually the guy who has the harsh call. UNLUCKY.

OUT: Martin, Otten (inj/rest)
IN: Edwards, Walker

EMRG: Davis, Douglas, Martin (if knee's ok)/Armstrong/Sloane

Good headaches to have.

I don't know how many of you watched the Geelong v Hawthorn game but Hawthorns forward line did alot better when Scarlett and Taylor weren't injured. Not saying they aren't vunerable but I don't think its going to be a white wash like some people are suggesting. Adelaide forwards are still going to have to play well to beat guys like Enright, Milburn, Mackie, Harley etc. From memory those four are all All Australians at some point in their career. Geelong may be weaker but they aren't weak.

Make no mistake about it as good as we were yesterday we are still along way off Geelong and St Kilda. If Edwards is fit he must come back in and Walker must be rewarded for outstanding SANFL form.

OUT: Otten, Martin - Very, very unlucky.
IN: Edwards, Walker

Haha oh great, so I lose out either way.
Why does she only do Geelong games... less players names to learn???

Just the way it's fallen i'd say. She doesn't need to learn names, shes a faily passionate footy supporter and if she had a less nasally annoying voice would be a good caller. :/

Whist Anthony Hudson is overseas doing the FINA swimming for Ten HD this was a good opportunity to get her a block of games in a row. Yesterday on 3AW Caroline Wilson said channel 10 wanted to give her 3 Saturday afternoon games in a row and they just happen to be Geelong games.

In my opinion her voice is annoying because it’s unfamiliar to what we expect to hear, our current awareness of what should be heard is a deep male voice but as hers is unfamiliar, it’s perceived to be annoying. It’s the same as listening to the New Zealand netball commentators; they are as annoying as hell as their accents are also unfamiliar to the commentary.

yes fair enough - but IF Otten is 100% fit, who goes out for Walker to come in?

No one.

In: Edwards
Out: Martin (unfair but he may be carrying a slight knee injury)

And Walker for Otten if he doesn’t come up.

Not my choices of ins and outs, especially the outs but no see no point flogging that dead horse any longer.

Did anyone else just hear a premiership windows slam shut.

Whose?

Geelong’s? No likely as they won that game without a few quality players and Scarlett didn’t play the second half.

And our wasn’t open in the first place....so whose

It's certainly going to be tough for the selection panel this week.

Taylor Walker has certainly done enough this week to justify selection once again in the seniors. Edwards has been our MVP in many games this year and is an automatic inclusion. Davis continues to press for a debut, but might have to wait another couple of weeks.

On the flip side of the coin, there really aren't too many people who deserve to be dropped - though the MRP and the medical crew might have a say in things. Reilly may go for a week or two for kicking Kornes. Otten may or may not come up from his corkie/driver/whatever it is. Beyond them, Martin is probably the next most vulnerable player - not that he's done anything to deserve demotion, but Edwards HAS to come in and that means someone has to go out. Shirley's form currently sees him selected in our best 22 on merit alone and he's not going anywhere.

People suggesting that Stevens will be dropped should stop smoking whatever it is they're on. His position in the team is completely safe (barring injury) and he's not going anywhere for the foreseeable future.

If the MRP & medicals don't take care of things for us... then I'm glad I'm not on the selection panel this week.

Hey, I'm thinking of driving down to Geelong for this match (live in Melbourne). Do you have to buy tickets beforehand due to the place selling out or whatever?

What is the deal people?

Do they have seating the whole way around yet? I remember my mum and dad taking me and we had to stand on these concrete steps on a typical Geelong winter day...!!

I would usually say that Walker wouldn't be a walk up start but With no Taylor/ Scarlett there backline will be weakened (clarification not weak, weakened) so I would love to see: Knights Burton Danger
Walker Tippett Porps

would be the best forward line since we had jars and mods together IMO .

But whoever gets left out will be unlucky, I'm thinking as everyone else is- Martin but I love him, reckon he'll be a real gem. (some of his hit ups yesterday were amazing!) And If otten isn't injured who goes out? I'd say maybe Stevo... (*preparing for backlash*) There forward line is looking very short atm, as they are taking out Mooney and Hawkins for ruck duties- heard a whisper on SEN this morning that Ottens is a sneaky chance for this w/e :(.

Edwards picks himself and we will be confronted all over again next week when mackay and otten (if he misses this game) come back in .

Its looking very tricky for Douglas to get another game this year...

In: Edwards, Walker
Out: Martin, Otten

Martin comes out on the "last man in rule".

Otten looked like a write off for a week at least to me. A break could freshen him up for September anyway.

I know this has nothing to do with changes, but it is worth noting that Bock will play his 100th and Symes will play his 50th AFL match this week.

Congratulations Nathan and Brad!

interesting
milestone = win :D

Hate to rain on your parade fellas, but Milburn plays his 250th and Bartel his 150th this week. :thumbsu:
