If he's 100%, he plays, but if he's proppy or sore at all, I'd rather see him have a week off.

Because he's not in our best 22 and Mackay and Edwards are really the only 2 midfielders out at the moment and hes only really useful to us atm if we need to tag 2 players and our gameplan isnt very tag friendly and i like run-on sentences and I hope this isn't a double post.

That's a fair call Jenny. I am no Shirley fan overall and for the future but you make a valid point that he will be more than useful against the strong-bodied Geelong mids.

The difference between this and the last time he was selected for Geelong is that he has proved himself to be in very good form today whereas last time he was only selected on past reputation.

Edwards comes in for a like-for-like mid (Martin or a suspended Reilly), or given Geelong's lack of tall quality forwards maybe in for the injured Otten.

But if we want the same structure and Otten is out it will be between Walker and Davis. Both deserve it but I'd love to see how Walker goes with Burton now back as you would suspect they'll play a lot together till the end of 2010. Stevens to Ottens role.

Very thankful I'm not on the selection committee this week, they have a very tough task ahead of them. Assuming no suspensions and that Otten pulls up okay from his injury I'd go:

In: Edwards
Out: Shirley

Really tough on Walker not bringing him in, but really don't see who misses out instead, not to mention poor old Davis who'll miss out again. I've gone Shirley over Martin, just because I feel that if we are to challenge Geelong, we'll need blokes who are willing to take them on and break lines, last time we played Geelong, Shirley came in to take Ablett and Ablett finished with a lazy 46 disposals and a few goals, hardly any point having Shirley in to tag if Ablett's going to do that, might as well try and take them on with our own run and make blokes like Ablett accountable.

If Otten goes out, I'd bring in Walker, Reilly replaces Shirley if he's suspended.

...with Walker coming in, perhaps Porpz can rotate between midfield and forward.

it sucks. I did it last year because I hate Liam Pickering commentating (he's great on AFL teams, but I just dont like his commentating). And the Radio is 2-3 seconds before the TV coverage.

Just the way it's fallen i'd say. She doesn't need to learn names, shes a faily passionate footy supporter and if she had a less nasally annoying voice would be a good caller. :/

I don't have a problem with Underwood's voice at all. Lots of hysterics about her, mostly unjustified.

Seems like Martin will miss a week regardless, unless the injury news was misleading.

Battle between Davis and Walker, all depends on whether they want to replace like for like with Otten, or slot Walker back into the forward line and shift Stevens into defence. Decision further compounded by Stevens having a very ineffectual day in attack against Port.
