Bevridge got a bit cute with selection. Time to pick our actual best 22.

I agree with this totally...not sure if it is 100% Bevo though, but regardless we need our best 22 in

Out: Goodes, Hunter, Cordy, Biggs, Dale
In: Hrovat, Minson, Macrae, Grant, Webb

I'm not a big one for culling BUT we've lost three in a row, two to sides who when you beat Sydney in Sydney then lose to the Saints and Melbourne, questions need to be asked.

My changes. Doubt they'll all happen but my thoughts

Out: Goodes (inj/omit), Hunter (omit) Cordy (omit) Biggs (omit)
Jong (inj/omit) Bontempelli (inj)

In: Hrovat, Macrae, Webb, Hamling, Grant and McLean.

Also would like to see Smith upgraded to senior list to replace Clay. I don't want to see Jong and Bont again until fully fit. Bont hasn't been himself since the Richmond game. Biggs was poor yesterday, but can fully understand if he gets a couple games to give him a real chance. Cordy, I'd just like to see Roughead go it alone in the ruck after Ayce, whilst not alone, turned in a stinker yesterday. Hunter has had his run, time to give another small forward a crack at it.

Outs

Goodes (inj/omit), Cordy (omit), T.Boyd (rest), Jong (inj/rest), Hunter (omit)

Ins

Webb, Hamling, Campbell, Grant, McLean

Time to move Roughead into the ruck, quite clearly hes the most suited out of any one to the role Bev is wanting from a ruckman. Campbell effectively replaces Boyd to give that tall marking target but also helps double team Mumford which we will need. Boydy can have the next 2 games off and then play the rest of the season.

Hamling is going to have to take McCarthy in my opinion. GWS don't have any forward monsters, rather they are agile and athletic so Roughead can ill afford to be played back.

Grant slots into Jongs spot and Hunter gives me the irrates (particularly when he celebrates an easy goal like hes kicked a bag) so McLean deserves a debut as well.

Ins: Macrae, Hrovat, Redpath, Minson

Outs: Goodes, Cordy, Hunter, Biggs

But seriously, regardless of the 22, if we don't have red mist in front of our eyes at 4.40 next Saturday, I'll be p***ed. Redpath needs to be given licence to run right through them.

Griffen. The bloke who was supposedly the leader who walked out when things got too hard and then held a gun to the club's head while he went pig shootin'.

Ward, Cameron....say no more.

No more weak, insipid efforts like yesterday. Never again.

Time to make a statement, lads.

Out: Biggs (omit), Jong (inj), Goodes (omit), Hunter (omit), Cordy (omit)
In: Webb, Hrovat, Grant, Macrae, Minson (if not suspended)

Biggs should definitely go straight back to the VFL this week. Appreciate that it was hard to find a teammate that had a good game either, but a performance like his in his first game for the club shouldn't be rewarded with another. He'll get more benefit from being dropped in the long run.

As I've already said, Jong shouldn't have played the last two weeks. His hand is still f**ked after the surgery. I don't want to see his confidence take a long term hit because of the related struggles.

Goodes just isn't up to it. He doesn't think or move fast enough to be playing at this level. It seems that so often a fluid piece of play (granted there were very few of these yesterday) breaks down when Goodes receives the ball. I'd prefer to have him as a guiding leader in the VFL.

Hunter doesn't seem to have the required desire and commitment to the high pressure game plan at the moment.

It's been analysed to death, but Cordy just isn't doing enough in the ruck or around the ground to justify continued selection.

1 - Roughead may or may not play ruck in our next premiership tilt. I don't see how you could rule this in or out at this early stage. If Beveridge is not going to pick Minson or Campbell then Roughead may well be the best option to ruck next week, and frankly Roughead is hardly SOS like as a backman so I don't see the harm.

Please don't talk about SOS like he was some great backman - all he ever did was hold his opponent.

i love how i've read a few times (and to be fair even Bevo mentioned it) the grudge match with Boyd against his old club? Talk about missing the point. Griffen left us for them, after the Callan Ward incident, and we're a real club.

The idea of gws feeling the right to be aggrieved at losing a 1st year player because of it is nonsense. I almost feel like it's people trying to give GWS the personality of a real club, oh look, a player left us, in AFL circles we get upset about that and come out firing when we play them?

When really it's more like "oh look, we were giving so many concessions that we even started planning for them to leave and when our inflated cap and dearth of senior players landed us a club's captain we got to take advantage of what we were planning for anyway, but it wasn't on our terms so lets get upset"

In: Campbell, Macrae, Hrovat, Webb

Out: Cordy, Goodes, Hunter, Biggs

If we play Cordy as ruckmen vs Mumford GWS will win by 10 goals.

Super post. They started it with Ward and then Griffen, now we have to finish it.

He was great and you are being disrespectful. He played within he rules of the day, other defenders of the day had the same leniency to do the same defensive tactics.
Rick Kennedy meh

Out: Biggs, Cordy, Jong, possibly Hunter
In: Minson/Campbell, Macrae, Hrovat, Grant

If Minson suspended and Campbell not considered in good enough form then Roughy into ruck with Boyd as backup.
Cordy has to go.
Biggs was pretty soft and looked lost.
Jong injured and a liability
Hunter looked pretty ordinary, was surprised at how poor he looked maybe one more chance

Strange but this week I'll start with the outs.

Cordy will have to go now. Backwards step after some positive ones. I reckon part of the reason we're so tired is that we have to tackle the other team 5 times to gain the ball in the centre. His ruck work really is not coming along.

Goodes is obviously injured but probably was just holding a spot. Feel bloody bad for him though.

Jong can find form in the 2s. He showed us some capability in the open rounds so hopefully he finds touch and gets back in, has positives to bring.

Toyd sounds like he's about to get a spell. Cruel game though haha he was great against Freo and this week didn't get a good look at the ball once. Got no problem with giving him a break, even 2 weeks.

The only other i can think of is Bailey Dale but from the stands i like him. Saw him get outmarked by Crossy but there aren't no shame in that. I reckon he's a footballer, genuinely.

Reckon i'd leave it at that tbh. Others could be a tired Bonts getting a break too, but i'll assume they can work something out for him, play him forward or something. He still worries teams and i think he's worth his spot in the 22 until the bye. Biggs was pretty poor too.

So if i go with those 4 outs, these are my ins.

Minson (if suspended, Campbell). Mummy is scary and we'll need to at least engage him in the fight. Both Minno and Campbell have been running hard around the ground in the 2s but theres a big step up. Better options than Ayce though.

Macrae can now come in and set up the rest of his career how he wants to. He'll net us 20+ touches, composure and at times an extra big body around the pill. Might look inside 50 and try and hit a target too.

Hrovat is my guy for Jong. I'm going to assume Honey hasn't freshened up because he's obviously a coaches favourite too but if not, i'm fine with Hrovat. Will put in all day, works hard defensively and he'll get the ball in good positions so hopefully he's the new man we want him to be.

Redpath can rustle some jimmies. Not in amazing form but this is what he's here for. Be a body in the forward 50.

Jarrad Grant can come in and even do a better job than Dale. I liked him to start the year but never took off and the MC mentioned he was a tad stiff. Take your chance son and get us a win!

SO there's a few unlucky ones. One of Rat and Honey will miss for mine, Webb would love another crack at the seniors, Mclean might be unlucky that you can't make too many changes. It's a good sign that there is quality and form in the 2s though. A silver lining i'd say.

My pre season predictions or worries about our ruck/back up ruck scenario has definitely materialised

Got a feeling by Bevo's presser we may finally see Minson. If not then i want Roughy in the ruck and Hamling to come in.

Out: Cordy, Goodes(Inj), Jong(Get his hand right) Dale.
In: Minson/Hamling, Honeychurch, Webb, Hrovat
No room for Macrae?

If Boyd is rested on top of other ins and outs already nominated would play Campbell rather than Redpath to see how he works in Bevs game style for short bursts whilst Roughy is resting

Time to swing the axe Bev.

Outs:
-Biggs (few more weeks in the VFL, good exposure to AFL pressure)
-Hunter (would be good if we were smashing every team, he offers nothing defensively)
-Cordy (said it many times - will never make it)
-Goodes (injured)
-Jong (injured)
-Boyd (if he needs a spell)

Ins:
- Macrae (far too good for VFL, needed to be dropped though)
- Hrovat (offers so much more than Hunter does and BOG yesterday)
- Minson (if not suspended comes in, Cordy experiment is done)
- Grant (unique player, good form in the VFL bring him in)
- Webb (reward for effort, showing plenty)
- Redpath (if applicable)

Macrae and Webb back in. Hunter and Goodes out.
Biggs and Dale should be safe. Bevo seems to give younger guys at least three weeks before making a move (Hrovat, Webb - possibly Hunter this week)
Would like to see Grant and Campbell. Would bring Campbell in for Cordy, though I'm not convinced MC will. Would also do Grant for Jong, who has been nothing short of terrible since returning (not his fault, shouldn't have been brought back so early)

Bevridge got a bit cute with selection. Time to pick our actual best 22.

When I said this at the game yesterday a Dogs' supporter went at me like I'd shot Bambi. Apparently I don't know everything, MacRae might have told the coach to get effed for all I knew. So I said that we must have had 4 or 5 of our best 22 who told the coach to get effed then.

I think Luke has carried over his "one soldier goes down, another one takes his place" ethos from Hawthorn which was the case with them last year, but they had much more mature cattle to work with than we do. Not everyone on our list is AFL ready or AFL standard. Some selections just don't make sense from the outside. Others have been rushed back.

And Griffen will be on the end of about 50 of them tap outs.

Out: Goodes Boyd Jong Cordy Biggs Dale
In: McRae Redpath Grant Honeychurch Webb Hamling

Goodes:Suspended/Injured
Boyd: Rest
Jong: Prove in the VFL the hand is 100%
Cordy: Enough said
Biggs: Webb showed enough at this level to not lose his spot through a rest
Dale: Had a taste, like what he showed, out for team balance

I could get banned for life for this but here goes.

With Libba, Smith and Jong injured we are crying out for some one to help Wallis in the middle ...... yet no one is suggesting Prudden. Is he anywhere near ready for seniors or have the injuries taken their toll. My thinking is that with the years he has been in the system and the time he has been able to spend in the gym he could be hard enough to take the place of some of the pups. and make a contribution. Has his VFL form shown he is near ready?
