mcguane did better than moore today at any end of the ground, must be something personal ?

I agree with this. I think Moore can be very very soft at times. Was very ordinary on the weekend and only some horrible goal kicking saved his day from looking terrible..

A straight swap Moore for either Rance or Goo..

:)Think Collins in and Hicks out will be the extent of the changes this week.
Hicks was OK, but as the last in, he will be first out when Collins comes back!
Nason out?????
Everyone is entitled to a quieter than normal game. Fortunately hardwick makes calls on whole season form and not just one quiet week.

Tipping Benny Nason might be having a well earned rest for the rest of the season. He has shown us enough now and yesterday seemed to be a little flat, so its time for Damien to protect the merchandise. ;)

People asking for McGuane to go after todays game is just plain ****ing stupid. Clearly have no idea about football.

KICKED an important and timely goal and did a lot of the grunt work up forward.
But a lot on here base contributions on possessions alone.
Not every player need get 20 plus possessions eqach week, some players play a role and McGuane fulfilled his yesterday!!

Collins in (if fit) for Nason.

This isn’t a knock on Nason, but I think that his form in the second half of the year has been well below that of his first half. I’m very happy with his performance on a whole for the season, but I think he could benefit from a week or two back at Coburg, just getting more of the pill than the 10 or so touches he’s getting at the moment. However, I see it being hard for the coaches to drop a bloke who still had his head over the ball against Rutten in the last quarter, in the hail, with the match already sewn up, so I don't think it'll happen.

Would love to see Gourdis finally play, and I think that Rance probably deserves a gig after his effort last week, but don’t know who comes out.

Mcguane and Thursfield should always be in our defence with Astbury. Gourdis should be the depth player for now and maybe in the future he will force one of the 3 above to be depth but it is very good depth and that's what we need

By the start of next season or within 2 years we'll have tall backs such as:

Mcguane: 192cm, 95kg
Thursfield: 192cm, 95kg
Astbury: 195cm, 100kg
Gourdis: 194cm, 95kg
Rance:194cm, 95kg

Nothing wrong with that 5 at all and they will get to that size. Every club needs at least 4 tall backs and probably 5 on the list. We will find out if Post becomes a player in this time too. He may end up at CHF or CHB and Astbury may end up at CHF. With Griffiths, Reiwoldt and maybe Hicks on the FF line

Moore looked sore to me, Rance in for Moore, Hicks out, Collins in. I only say Hicks out, as someone has to go for Andy.

Thursty has to be de listed or put for trade. Just not up to where we are at.

lol..what? if he was delisted, he'd be the first player picked in the PSD and the wooden spooners would be thrilled (or gold coast or whoever gets that pick)

Totally agree therefore he was preferred before Thursfeild Moore and Astbury to play that role up Forward????????

Considering that hardwick stresses Structures Zones and a defensive unit it could be said that Moore Thursfield and Astbury were preferred over Macguane to play the Defensive roles?

Out: Nason (rest) McGuane Thursfield White

In: Collins Vickery Gourdis Taylor

Need to keep addressing the midget issue, experimenting and working on structure. Gourdis should be given a go, Vickery seems likely to come in as a forward. Taylor to come in to provide another legitimate avenue to goal.

Dont see why everyone wants hicks out and collins in as collins should have been droped last week anyway.

Also gourdis deserves a go.

Good honest OP, but boy have we seen some weird shite since then!

Delist Thursfield? What a stroke of genius! (Huey.)

Must be one of those sack/delist Jacko/Tuck mob that are getting quieter by the day (have to find a new victim I guess).

FWIW, I reckon Dimma would be one very chuffed first year coach atm. Not only did his boys go on a winning spree and win 5 out of six after being described as the worst team in AFL history - but then they bounce back after two hidings and show a fair bit of fight as well as talent. And WIN.

The heat's off. He can experiment all he wants now, I although he's probably not going to throw anything away, I'd be very surprised if the Goo doesn't get a go this week.

I can't see Hicks being dropped. He played a good little cameo role, and the Brown experience (disaster one week, good the next) shows that it's worth giving the newbies a couple in a row at least. It's also very important that we start developing a long term solution for our small forward role.

I also agree that Nason looks tired and deserves a well-earned rest.

And I wonder what else Cousins has to do to prove that he should get another season? The players love him. And he's getting better the longer the season goes.

It's probably time that Nason gets a rest and bring another new player

Of course Hardwick would be happy with his first year. Can anyone confirm whether he had predicted we would win 3 or 4 games this year? I remember at the beginning he did state that this year won't be about wins and we have to be patient. Eventually we won a few games. I am happy with this year -we saw a massive improvement with a young list.

Out: Nason
In: Collins

White lucky to hold his spot and Rance and Gourdis must be close to a game.

Mcguane is great. He's our best tall defender. Would prefer him in defence. Bring in Post and Rance, give Moore and White a rest

Oh brother... you obviously bleed yellow and black and sometimes say some reasonable stuff... I also rate McGuane's hard nut approach. But give Moore 'a rest' ????? From what? Playing well?

And unless Post is smokin your Post then why would he deserve to get promoted this week? He was crap in the seniors 2 weeks ago and crap again in VFL last week. Give it up mad one.
Starting to have serious doubts he will ever make it. He does have size and youth on his side, so can be given time, but he's done sh*t-all to date.

Nason is the one looking like he needs a rest.
One too many jockey sized kids running around at the moment... unless it's wet all day, as they obviously thought it would be last week.

Got to say the wins this year, although meaningless from a finals point of view, have been some of the most satisfying of the last decade.

If dry....
In: Vickery, Gourdis
Out: Nason, White

Liked it when one of Browne or Gus was resting at CHF/FF.
Vickey in allows that and Jack is versatile enough to play either 1st, 2nd, or 3rd tall.

If wet....
In: Gourdis, Collins
Out: Nason, White

This was one of the main criticisms of Terry Wallace. Everyone remembers R1 against CarlTank when Browne got his opportunity. IMO was totally mis-managed.
He was drafted at the end of the previous season. Had 1 preseason under his belt and Wallace through him in at the deep end. He got slaughtered! Then Wallace drops him for the rest of the year in the VFL...
Hardwick has handled it much better. He has given him a run in the two's, let the big fella string plenty of good games together and come into the side high on confidence. Then he gets slaughtered against the Pies...but wait...Hardwick leaves him in the side and shows faith in big sauce. And what do you know it, he improves and plays a good game. Now he is set for a run of 4-5 games and then into a big preseason and is set for another crack next year...:thumbsu:

Get Morton out
he is rubbish
from what I can gather he isnt that interested in an AFL career anyway
prefers to hit up the beers at CQ bar in the city

Ins: Collins - to play on the wing so Hicks can stay
Outs: Morton
Gourdis would be a good match up for Watts as he has pace to match or Lynden Dunn because he has strength to match... i dont know who to drop though as I love thursty

I rate Morton. Not sure why he has been turned into a wing when he averaged 40 goals a season for the last 2 years and our only other real small forward in the team is Hicks. In a team badly lacking small forward crumbers you'd think Morton was a must up forward this year. Hopefully Taylor and Hicks fill the spot well next year

This thread is so far off the mark.

I don't think we will make any changes. Maybe in Collins out one of Hicks/Nason.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Vickery in either though as that 2nd forward tall.
