Sad about Windsor being out. He is half the reason I have for making the trip down most weeks (kozzie being the other half). At least now I have Lindsay to fill some of the void.
Lindsay is a gun. I was pretty sold on Hotton, but once I saw this guys highlights, I was onboard. He looks a ripper. Hopefully we see him in the midfield. Would love to see what he can do on ball.

I'm expecting Turner to come back in for AJ, I think Fritsch got pushed into his role last week playing further up the ground and floating back, saw him doing a bit of that in the pre-season but Fritsch is not suited for that role.

I'd love to see Spargo. As limited as he is he's a smart player and might actually be able to help organise things up forward. Drop any of Henderson, Chandler or Sharp for him.

Give Langford a full game please, complete waste having him as the sub.

Legit might be the stupidest shit Goody's ever done in his life with the sub and as we know he's done a lot of stupid shit with it.

  • Fans want to see pick 5 play. If you're going to play the kids give them the one they are thirstiest to see.
  • Development? He probably needs development as much as anyone on our list. Play him you ****ing idiot. AFL or VFL, I don't care, he needs full games. Surely a limited slightly older player like Henderson, Sharp, Billings, Laurie, Woewodin etc etc far better suited to the sub role. You know what they are by now and their ceiling is capped regardless of any development so being the sub makes no difference.

I note that Henderson and Sharp were goal kickers. Chandler and Fritsch, nothing.

And I note that you thought JVR is on the verge of being dropped despite kicking a goal so I note that your point is completely meaningless.

And for JVR fans, if he has another null game like last week, I would point him in the direction of the VFL.
Same for Fritsch.

Perform or play VFL!

Did you see how they kicked their goals? They were scrappy dribblers and soccers of the ground after the ball fell off hands. They were just in the right place at the right time.

Forwardline was as bad as it's been in a long time last week, completely disorganised. Almost preferable to what it's been in the past few years because at least it didn't look bad by design but definitely looked like a bunch of blokes who had never played together. Our best goals came out of the midfield while the majority of the ones kicked by actual forwards were complete scrapfests.

I feel like we probably took about five marks inside 50 for the game? Our only set shot goal was Jefferson in the last quarter.

Sparrow early, Gawn took one, AJ at the end. Sharp had a set shot from 45 but it might have been a free?

Not a day for marking forwards but once again we made things hard for ourselves blazing away to the top of the square rather than finding better options and getting in each others way.

5 marks inside 50 vs 7 for GWS. Not really a day for marking forwards I would that thought. For reference - average across the league last year was 11 (we were the worst of course).

Real issue is our inability to score from turnover. Now that you blokes have caught up to listening to Daniel Hoyne you will note that he rates that stat as massively important.

That was my observation from Sunday's game from bay M41. It looked like we were trying to defend a bit further back to create more space in F50, but we struggled to force any turnovers before it reached the last line of defence (McDonald or Lever).

And when we did force turnovers in the middle of the park, we couldn't hit our forwards. Fritsch messing up a kick to an open Chandler (I think) was particularly memorable.

I think it's not a bad plan, and GWS are just about the best side in the league in transition, but if we can't force more turnovers against North and GC, we're in for a long year.

The best turnover we had all day was when Sparrow marked an errant kick into the centre square. He ended up blazing away to the top of the goal square, burning three of his teammates in the process and it was marked easily by Taylor.

There was another time McDonald charged out of the backline, hit a great kick to Sparrow in the corridor who stopped, turned and kicked it slowly out to someone on the boundary. Thrilling gameplay

Now now don't forget Schache not being used as the sub at all in the semi final against the Baggers
