JPod is a soft track Bully is a remarkably stupid comment

Yes he is 32yrs old, yes he has not played well in the first two rounds and yes he might be struggling to adjust to a new team and forward structure but his resume shows that he is not a flat track bully

I watched him live kick a bag full of goals against Hawthorn at the G, a flat track bully he is not and deserves more respect for what he has achieved since entering the AFL system

The comment was made about the position that he is in at this stage of his career. The problem with supporters is they think they have Pods of 2010 which is far different player to Pods of 2014.

He has been in a steady decline over the past two years. His biggest tally last year was 5 goals against GWS and he went goalless in his last two finals games which speaks volumes of where he is at.

Get your head around this before you make ******ed comments, his last 4 games he has kicked just 1 goal.

Sounds like JJ needs more time in the SANFL, but come in next week if the tall forwards have another poor week.

You mean he shouldn't be keeping out the guy who has kicked 1 goal in 3 SANFL trial matches? If this is who we are hoping to bring in to fix our forward line woes, we are in even worse trouble than I thought.

I've not seen any of the games, but the write ups seemed to be say we'd been playing Jenkins in defence most of the time.

Which makes total sense, after after pushing for a reserves team so that we could play the players in their positions, not where the SANFL teams needed them. Osborn played full forward, said the same write up.

Than he shouldnt be playing? If he acquired an injury it would have been during the NAB, because he attended every training session over summer.
but there is a reason they keep playing him.

he was injured early against both the Cats and the Power, so are these injuries pre-existing or is he just unlucky?

Quite right. Jenkins has played in the ruck and defence in the 2s trial games as well as spending some time forward. Against South he set up a couple of goals. He looked a little bit lost in defence.
Osborn spent time at full forward as did Siggins.

Dont get me wrong about Pods, I am still all for him being selected simply because he straightens us up and provides a structure for us. He enables a contest so that players like Betts can feed off him.

The problem that I saw last week was as many as four of our players were contesting for a mark, WTF was that??????

Who is our forwards coach and what is he doing to enable this kind of ******ed gameplan?

Yes 4 up is an issue that every other club is aware of But us

I was positioned at the Southern End last week, it was amazing see how Port delivered the ball into their forward line.

They first went down the flank, when that player grabbed possession their players then streamed to the middle of the forward zone to present a target directly in front of goals.

We never did this? I still cant get over this.

I also saw a player of ours about 40m from goal look for a short pass and hit the player right on the chest, problem was it was a Port player that led to a 12 point turnaround. I knew and that point we were ****ed.

I find it amazing that after 2 years, we still tackle poorly, we still can't defend well and worse still, we can't hit a player on the lead

Was this Jaensch? It was completely unforgivable. All he needed to do was to kick it as far as he could to a contest preferably close to the boundary line. Instead, he chooses to go through the center with a ridiculous short option. This is second rate football and we don't deserve to win when we pull shit like this.

Outs: McKernan, Porplyzia, Crouch, Shaw
Ins: Jenkins, Lyons, Crouch, Laird

B: Laird Rutten Brown
HB: Kerridge Talia Reilly
C: Smith Dangerfield Mackay
HF: Douglas Jenkins Wright
F: Betts Podsiadly Johnston
RU: Jacobs Sloane Thompson
INT: Grigg, M.Crouch, Lyons
SUB: Jaensch

After the week has settled - here are my ins/outs:

Out: Porps/Crouch (inj)
Ins: Laird/Crouch

That is what I believe Sando will do... He will back in the majority of the players one last time.

What I would like to see personally:

Out: Crouch (inj)
In: Laird

Give Porps one final crack. Set him a target.. 20 possies and a goal. If he doesn't achieve this its career over.... Have Mookay as the sub.

We need to persist with Pods, McKernan, Johnston because there is nobody else. Let them have 5-6 games together. See what happens.

thought I'd read that he'd spent a bit of time playing across the half back flank. no idea if it was for games or quarters or for a few minutes though.

In the last two finals games he was often playing across half back.
The number of times I saw him competing for marks in defensive 50...countless.
Not sure his role was to kick goals late in Geelongs season...

I think he's talking about Danger, in front of our goals. Took a good strong contested mark, 40 out as good as straight in front and passed sideways.

This was terrible, but players taking marks within range and passing is a pet hate of mine. why take a 50% chance at goal, and turn that into a pass, mark, then set shot anyway, all the while lessening the percentages overall with each extra possession.

It just makes no sense.

I really hope that if we play Crouch the younger, we do it from the start of the game. He is NOT the type to be a sub.
A sub player needs the ability to run with pace and in bursts that the tired players can't go with. BoB is an accumulator - he is not suited to a sub role.
I fear we are still to dumb to realise what the sub role really needs. Playing Porps in that role is just plain stupid. One can only hope we figure it out at some stage in the next two years.

I could not agree with this more.

I think our issue is we have a lack of line breaking runners on our list. If they're any good, they need to be on the field.

So we are forced to go with the best non KPP available.

IMO, Martin is our best Sub.

Even more reason not to drop one of our key forwards for him.

Yeah I saw Danger mark 40m out in front and went to the fridge, by the time I got back the ball was streaming through the midfield.

I just can't believe the complete lack of composure from Dangerfield there. It's not just him. Our players seem to shit their pants even when there isn't any pressure.

Danger should have gone back and taken the shot. He is the captain and should lead by example. It's not as though he has difficulty putting them through from 40--50 out.

I would not of played Pods Round 1. pre-season form was horrible, and now his season form is still horrible. The sooner Tex is back the better.
