In: McKernan, Crouch/Wright
Out: Martin, Porplyzia

Mackay sub if he comes up.

McKernan should never have been left out last week but in any event with better weather this week he comes in. Porps needs a spell in the magoos as he hasn't impacted a game except as sub this year. Give him a chance to find some touch.

Crouch or Wright to add a bit of grunt. Jaensch unlucky. We have too many players in the 15-30 range.

Dangerfield will be captain next year but VB's form is fine. Playing an outside run with role - not chopping opponents completely out of the game but has broken even with Boomer and Hill the last 2 weeks.

Again, same question. Let's not deitise our decision makers
You use a word you have invented and at the same time question Sando's intelligence?
For the record, the word is deify.
That's what I think you meant anyway.

For the record, you don't seem to understand what language is. It is not framed by a panel of linguists. It is ever-changing, ever-evolving, it has no hard and fast rules, and belongs to the mass, not the individual or decision making body. I can say or spell however I like. Language is fluid and ephemeral. That is its inherent nature. Many have said deitise, many have written it, and it is understood. It is language.

You're thinking of mathematics.

Implicit in a generalisation is the exception. Clearly there are those who won't be rational. But of course, that's not what you're saying. Your suggestion is more egocentric than that.

Somehow I think that no matter how hard I strive I'll never quite reach the levels of egocentricity required to declare that the existence of my criticism is enough evidence required to establish a problem. Something to aim for I guess.

Amer- voice of the masses.

No, it's about 20% of the point. Why do you enter these conversations if you can't get your head around them?

I have a firm grasp of the conversation.

You don't like the Captain and will argue in every possible way that it is a bad choice despite the playing group and coaching panel deciding he is the right man for the job. You refuse to accept it and want "the best player" to be Captain.

What you can't accept is people immensely more qualified have made a decision so it stands to reason that what you would like is completely irrelevant.

Funny you should say that as the masses consistently say wawda and bedda (which I interpret as water and better) but I cannot find in any dictionary in the world. I think it’s still English.

I put money on Sydney a couple of weeks ago at 8/1.

Look at them now, and then put Tippett into that side - I can't see anybody beating them.

And it shows how flawed the system is when the Premiers can land the biggest, most expensive trade of the off-season.

Good on Sydney, I don't blame them for chasing him (don't like the way they went about it, but that's old news), but it does make a mockery of things.

What a yuadnebapd post.

I think when you're discussing whether or not VB should be captain it probably should come down to whether or not he is the best option for captain right now, not whether or not you feel he has been a shit captain.
When he was appointed he was almost certainly the best option due to a complete lack of genuine leadership amongst our senior players following the retirements of Goody, Macca etc. Thommo was the only other option and while most of us felt he was our on field "leader" in terms of the way he went about things - there was talk that he didn't involve himself in leadership off the field and Im pretty sure he acknowledged this, got increasingly involved off the field to the point where he joined the leadership group and is now VC.
VB has done an admirable job over a pretty tough period in our clubs history amidst a fair amount of criticism.
However it comes down to whether or not he is the right option now. I would say that right now we have not 1 but 2 guys (Sloane and Danger) who perfectly encapsulate everything you want in a captain of an AFL club.

First and foremost they are on field leaders. They are barometers of our side - match winners, game changers. Guys who can pull out the crucial centre clearance or goal to lift the side. They are vocal on the ground but also leady by example.
In addition they are fantastic representatives of the club off the field. they are intelligent, charismatic and personable. They speak well with the media and appeal to the fan base. They are marketable and are well known not only in SA but throughout all the football states. They already have a presence in the Vic media market.
Finally they have been talked about as fantastic young leaders since the moment they walked into the club to the point where they are now in the leadership group.
They are in their early 20's and at that 100 game mark and are poised to take over the leadership of the club for the next decade.

Reagrdless of what you think of VB as a leader, as a player, whether or not he deserves his place in the side, whether or not he has done a good job - in terms of leadership, I believe that in 2014, Danger or Sloane are better candidates to take over as captain.
VB has been a fantastic servant of the club and will be a valuable senior player over the next few years, but right now it is time for Danger to be captain going forward.

Well, yeah, Shakespeare invented words, so why not Amer?
However, your contention is that this word has been widely used both orally and in writing and is understood and accepted. Nonsense.
Kindly show three examples of the use of this word by others.
You have given us your considered opinion on Sando's intelligence. Ever met the man? He seems pretty bright to me. And I have yet to hear him invent a word. Perhaps he doesn't belong to the 'masses'.

For what we were about under Craig, VB was the man. For what we are about under pretty boy Brenton (ponyboy), there's better men for that job.

Your captain is suppose to be the one that shows the team during games what the coach wants

What about the early games where Dangerfield "went missing" (to quote fans of other teams)?
Right now Dangerfield needs to develop a certain aspect of his game, it looks like from the weekend that he is well on the way to getting this sorted. He should be given the chance to develop into a very well rounded player before he is heaped with extra responsibility.

Buy the start of next year there may be better men for the job, but ultimately the Club sets the KPI's for captain and makes sure that they are met.

I thought I made up word this morning after reading some posts in this thread. But then I actually found 'moronism' in the dictionary.

Beautifully put! Danger has the media exposure and composure both here and interstate as well as the respect from the opposition coaches and players. In addition Captain Denger has a certain appeal to it as well.
Reward the man and the player - he thoroughly deserves it and you never know we may finally get the interstate respect we are longing for. With Tex back next year, we will turn the 50:50 games to our advantage - need to knock off the top four teams to enhance our reputation. Would love to see us beat a Collingwood, Hawthorn or a Geelong in a GF.

Having a reserves team will assist us greatly. Time to act and get with the program.

Language has generally accepted parameters at any point in history, though. You can't just go making words up and then use the fact that language evolves as an excuse.

As a practical example try putting in a job application with several 'new words' to see if the employer appreciates the initiative taken.
