It's just super frustrating. Like, when you read cerebral sludge in various comments sections (Facebook, Twitter, AdelaideNow) you may raise an eyebrow at the ignorance but you know you're digesting s**t from a short-order cook. A bit like whining about a bad burger from McDonald's.

Examples such as earlier are something else.

Otherwise intelligent and rational types wade in, weaned on the Fruchoctopian creation story = Port people are feral fools and their club is a bludging, treacherous entity that has done nothing for the game/state except take [sic] whereas the Adelayfoobawcluh is the light on the hill that nourishes neonates and serves as the engine that propels the sun o'er the horizon; and 99% of their takes are predicated on that busted narrative.

So set against the backdrop of predictably horrible media spin in the wake of their China-themed sponsorship deal, when Ford points to Port Adelaide's record of once again putting in a shift of 'heavy lifting' for the benefit of not just ourselves but our rivals (and beyond), with a cheeky nod to the stacks-on behaviour of the yang to our ying, a challenger appears like a startled meerkat.

Which is cool in itself, debate should be welcomed lest we slip into the awfulness that is "OPPOSITION SUPPORTERS CAN FOH" echo chambery, but to misconstrue the point being made as "he said Adelaide weren't a heavyweight of the comp! [he did nothing of the sort, they clearly are]" and then frame that argument around 'handouts' based on a $2m-odd disparity in the 2016 AFL revenue distribution is the stuff of childhood lead poisoning.

But, here we are.
My gears stopped turning while reading this but I gave you a like anyway

The Crows/ The Advertiser have achieved exactly what they set out to do. They have made this a pissing contest between us and them which has resulted in people talking about their new partnership constantly, generating cost free publicity over an otherwise basic announcement of a sponsorship.
What they dont realize is that most of us dont read the crap let alone sighn up.

so is the 7 figure sponsorship deal the same sort of spin as crows make as operating profit, or were they talking in Yuan and the advertiser journo buys it hook line and sinker like their financial result. :)

I thought that was Troy Chaplin in the crers photo for a moment. That was taking the imitation zone into the twilight zone

Have contacted both the Port Adelaide football club and the franchise down the road to get some interaction with our juniors.

Port replied by phone in person with in two days and sent three players in a week down for a training session.

The crows said it was to far but where happy to donate a signed football.

Drove done to the concrete jungle today to collect it.

A generic replica......

Port had six players in the far flung YP a couple of weeks ago - a whole 300+kms round trip.:)

Had the best local media coverage ever - all pics sent to the Club.

Sounds like the Crows have the same policy whether it's regarding juniors or War Veterans' causes.

Let's call it Faganesque Condescension.

Hang on ... which board am I on ...

A neat and contrastingly sensible piece by Angus Grigg, who is Shanghai based for AFR and has written some supportive stuff for our China Strategy.

Port Adelaide tickets for China AFL game sell out in under three hours

More than 5000 Port Adelaide fans are expected to make the trip to Shanghai, ensuring the 11,600 seat stadium is a sell-out. Chinese and Australian companies have also embraced the event as an opportunity to promote business ties and have bought about 3000 hospitality tickets. The remaining tickets have been sold to expatriates living around Greater China and locals interested in Australia's indigenous game.

The match is being billed as an opportunity to build better business and political ties between Australia and China, similar to the "ping-pong diplomacy" pursued by the Nixon Administration in the 1970s. ... ....

... the club is already preparing for next year. Mr Thomas said there were plans to reconfigure the Jiangwan stadium to more than double capacity to around 30,000 seats and have the game as a central part of the Australia Week event in China.

... Like many organisation Port Adelaide has looked to China in recent years in an effort to broaden its revenue base away from the already saturated Australian sporting market.

Crows came to my lads school this year and he loved it. He got a junior pack and all. Now he wants to be a crow supporter.

It's tough being a parent Macca.
Just remember your primary concern as a parent is that you have a duty of care in setting standards and moral codes for your children.
DO THE RIGHT THING, SET THE EXAMPLE AND YOUR SON, IN THE LONG RUN, WILL THANK YOU THAT YOU ENSURED HE WAS BORN AND LIVED A PAFC SUPPORTER ALL HIS LIFE.
The alternative is too horrific to contemplate.

Clubs don't seem to have been that successful at rolling out these community camps with uniformity. West Coast and Fremantle were fairly regular visitors to my district growing up and found that the level of organisation as well as quality/enthusiasm of interaction wavered considerably. Guess a lot is dependent on the organisation of the people involved at the ground level as well as the players & staff allocated to be there on the day.
