AFL Club
Essendon
Other Teams
Dodgers, Raiders
- Both nearing the ends of their careers
- Both champions for their club over a long period
- Both KPP who can play both forward or back

Whose had a better career?

Both Champions for their clubs- don't think it's fair to vote, too hard to split. Grant has suffered more from injuries.

Been a very good player Nietz but not in the same class as Grant who should have won 2 Brownlow medals playing in a key position.

Still really gets on my goat when I hear Robert Harvey who I really rate referred to as "Dual Brownlow medallist" as the 1997 medal should have been given to Ian Collins. He was also robbed in 1996 when was clearly BOG in Round 22 yet the 3 votes went to Hird and Grant lost medal by one vote.

The previous Key Position player to win was Tony Lockett in 1987 and yet Grant should have won 2 subsequently which obviously puts him as having a better record than Nietz.

Think the stats speak for themselves in Grants favour but unless something dramatic happens for either player in a hurry, they are both going to retire without a flag which will always be held against them when rating players of similar ilk

U guys are morons. Neitz is a class above Grant. have alook at how well Neitz has polled in the brownlow as a full forward and Neitz was a very good defender early on in his career. Grant has been a very good player but the big Neitasourous has been superior. As for Neitz being overated, YOU ********!!!!

Welcome back Neutral Observer. Where the hell have you been? Your unbiased view on everything that is Melbourne has been sorely missed. The poll indicates Grant is four times the player Neitz is. I wouldn't go that high, but they are nowhere near even.

In the last 5 seasons Neitz has booted 323 goals which ranks second in the competition and has had his fair share of injuries too. That suggests that he has been the second best full forward in the league in that time. kicking goals wins you matches I’m lead to believe and over their careers Neitz has contributed more, which in part is why Melbourne have played more finals footy than the dogs... I like the dogs too but let’s not jump on the bandwagon.... PATHETIC

Grant was a genuine superstar who lead the competition in Brownlow voting one year - Regardless of whether he won it or not, he did the equivalent.

Neitz has been bloody good for a long time, but Grant's best was better.

Grant at his peak was definitly the better player but I think over the last couple of seasons David is far more the well rounded player and brings much more to the MFC. Mind you David did 6 goals on Grant last year

I thought these guys had retired. Are they still playing AFL? :)

Kinda like Carlton, i saw them playing yesterday, and i thought to myself man are they still playing, i thought they must have quit because i haven't seen them in the winners list for the last few years.

Neitz captained his club to a grand final. Grant never could.

Good comparison. Neither reached the heights of the great players of the 90's and 00's but always gave 100%. Both remind me a little of Andy Bichel; good without being great, limited talent but tried their guts out.

The careers of both benefited from surrounding themselves with lowly talented players and playing for second tier clubs. Would have been considered little more that decent players, had they played for a powerhouse club like; Collingwood, Carlton or Essendon.

Can't split them, so neither...

From this point on you shall be known as 'Two Dicks'......nobody could pull themselves this much with just one.

carlton and powerhouse cannot be combined in the same sentence. Carlton and out-house, of course, can be!
