Fyfe has only copped a tag a couple of times this year - i'm guess because he isn't that dangerous (relatively) in general play around the midfield (unlike Hill and Mundy) and you can't stop his clearance work with a tag.

His two massive weapons - which make him a star - are his quality clearances to advantage (whether being tackled or not) and his ability to be extremely dangerous forward

Not sure if talking about Fyfe or Yeo

The comparison is style of play is fair enough.

The comparison in terms of consistency and longevity is not even close.

There is obvious reasons to get excited about Yeo but lets just not blow our collective loads just yet.
For the last couple of years everybody has been hoping for a Fyfe type player, but where do you find such a beast.

They certainly don't fall out of trees.

Interestingly enough Fyfe and Yeo are exactly the same height and weight, are now both big bodied mids who use their size and strength to burst through packs. Both are very capable clearance players and both are strong in the air.

I know it's early days but just maybe, just maybe one fell out of the trees.

Always comes across in interviews like he thinks he is the best thing on the planet.

Can't stand his pompousness.

Talking about pompous I like how the only people who are actually taking this thread completely on face value are the Fremantle supporters posting in their Non-Freo Discussion thread. They are really getting riled up over there. So keep up the good work.

Mentioned this in another thread but as a junior he was the best overhead contested mark I've ever seen. He didn't even jump, he would just put his arms up in a pack and the ball would stick.

The similarities to Fyfe are there (marking ability, size, and athleticism) even though he still has a long way to go to match Fyfe's output. He's going to be under so much more pressure and attention now, have to wait and see how he handles it.
Yeah it's early yet. Definitely some similarities but dealing with full time mid roles, getting tagged by good opposition and still performing at the same level is yet to come. Looks good so far though.

Subscribed for further input down the road.

Because right now Fyfe is miles ahead.

But I'm very happy with Elliot.

He has superstar written all over him.

Needs more mongrel, the best always tread the fine line (Fyfe trip, Judd eye gouge, Johnson nurry punch)
Not Necessarily. I prefer commitment to mongrel. Really it depends on the individual. You could go through a long list of highly successful footballers, even Brownlow winners who didn't need "mongrel" as such but I like to use the Tennis, Federer versus McEnroe analogy. Some need it some don't. I don't believe Federer was any less committed to each shot then McEnroe.
Each individual needs to find their own drivers, that make them commit to each and every contest. The key is finding what works for you and committing to it.

Bit like comparing Chuck Norris to Dolph Lundgren.

One half decent movie and a few cameos does not make a movie star.

Nat Fyfe can start a fire by rubbing two ice cubes together

The extra 5 clearances and 6 contested possessions are a big difference.

As a wingman/HFF I'd almost say they are comparable. But as a full time on-baller...

While his current clearance average leaves something to be desired his contested disposal count over the past three weeks would place him 24th in the comp. Hardly wingman like.

Having a blinder a against the bottom side, who had 25 players available, at home......does not constitute comparisons with fyfe. I also note masten's blinder, it must be his 8th break out game. Previous break out games we against melbourne at subi (100pt win) GWS at subi (100pt win). Cold shower please. Nothing was done to break the flat track bully tag on saturday, only a win by less than 30pts at home will shake that tag.
pi$$ off back to your own board

He's far a better contested player than a Hill or Jetta, sure, but what I meant was that if both Fyfe and Yeo both played roles similar to, say, Andrew Embley, then you could start to compare them. But Fyfe is so far ahead as an on-baller it's not funny.
