Contrary to the previous media release, Adelaide HAS made some changes to the coaching staff:
http://www.afc.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/4417/newsid/102729/default.aspx

The 2 changes announced are:
  • David Noble will now become our "List Manager", no longer a part of the coaching staff.
  • Matthew Clarke now becomes a full-time assistant, presumably still in charge of the ruck division.

Interesting.

Who steps into the forward coach role? My first thought was that this meant we were going to make a play for someone to fill this spot, but the article emphasises that the move is "cost neutral", so does this mean we won't have a forward coach? Will Bickley be filling this spot? Seems an odd choice if that's the case.

Probably one of the areas we need a coach most!!

Everyone's a midfielder these days anyway! Who needs a forwardline or a backline?

Aker could be available if the money is right

Do NOT want.

Getting sacked from both clubs he's played for mid season shows Aker is poison. Any club who picks him up and gets burned needs a lesson in learning from history.

What happened to those rumours that Rehn would join the team?

I think Noble as list manager is a good move but given he'll be looking after our 'list management' why is he starting in the position after trade week?

We need a massive improvement to our forward line structure and movement so let's hope whoever is appointed (Bicks?) proves a success.

How could we possibly be increasing Doc Clarke's involvement. Seriously... how are our rucks going? Maric is passable and tries hard. Griffin is going backwards at pace and wants to leave. McKernan went backwards. Sellar went backwards. Moran didn't get on the ground. Craig didn't get on the ground. Now we're desperately trying to lure a kid from Carlton with 17 games under his belt to lead our brigade.

There isn't a single positive among the group he has been in charge of. He's the worst ruck coach in the AFL, apart from Matthew Primus.

I suppose it's possible that our group is so weak because he hasn't had enough time with them, and the only reason they've got as far as they have (however little that is) is because of his small amount of involvement.

I'm clutching at straws here though :o

It might also be because we have an entire arsenal of really mediocre ruckmen for him to work with. Could the finest clay sculpture make anything worthwhile from a pile of dirt?

Apart from Maric we do not have any really AFL grade ruckman. Mckernan could be very good but we haven't seen him yet. Moran is continually injured, Sellar too short and weak, and Griffin is a spud. He doesn't have the greatest talent to work with. Maric is quite a good hit-out-to-advantage ruckman which might be a result of Clarke who knows. I'm ok with it for one more year and see what happens with Mckernan and Moran.

I wouldn't be keen on Hart or Bick's becoming forward coaches as they would have very little knowledge on how to play is such a position. Get someone who hasn't played for us and has been a successful forward at some point.

Great to see that the end of season review has been so thorough, and we are already seeing such tangible improvements.

Who'd have thought that we could have come up with such ground breaking developments at the club. Upgrade Matthew Clarke to a midfield coach, and create a position elsewhere for our failed forward coach.
