Just finished reading a review* from the practice match that Coburg played today against the Bullants at Princes Park. Here is a bit of a run down.
Coughlan didn't play. Hope everything is alright.
JON injured an ankle, started on the bench and still displayed his usual lack of awareness.
Polo copped a spray for being unaccountable in the first quarter while playing on Jordan Russell. Was left on the bench at start of second quarter, played better when he returned and destroyed Iaccobucci in the second half. Good to see him fight back.
Connors was good once he got going but poor footskills let him down.
White was reportedly BOG just needs to string consistent performances together to put pressure on the senior side.
Riewoldt had a solid game, played in the ruck in final quarter. Reviewer suggests he is not a KP.
Graham has improved from last year but still has a fair way to go before can be called upon for AFL duties.
Edwards was good, showed footy smarts and was not afraid to compete for marks against bigger opponents.
McGuane was average in defence and looked skinny against his opponents.
Putt still needs a lot of development work before he will be ready.
Collins on and off the bench needs to work on 2nd/3rd efforts and improve his endurance.
Tivendale/Hyde usual games from these 2, neither did a heap.
Morton needs more time before a call up to AFL.
Silvester belongs at Coburg.
Collard reportedy had 5 goals at half time in the reserves match, showed silky skills and evasiveness but does not like a contest.
Rance played reserves as did Gourdis? (poster at PRE was unsure) if him looked good playing up forward.

*With thanks to fellow Tigers fans at PRE

Thanks for passing on the info. I read that Connors' skills were "great" though so maybe you mixed his up with someone else's?

Thanks for the review of the review RT. :thumbsu:
Good news re Collard, just needs to take a leaf out of the books of Edwards and Kingy. I really want Reiwoldt to find his position soon and start playing games in the seniors.

Why didn't Cogs play? Why is it taking so long to recover. It's been 13-14 months now or are we just being too precautious? I wanna see him in the bloody seniors

Seeing as he wasnt reviewed, i pressume that Casserley didnt play...
Because of form?
Or injury?
Or just because we had too many players to choose from?

Shame, because he would've been in line for a senior call up with any injury we may have incurred...

thanks for the review, btw...great write up

why do the wallace coaching staff hate polo so much, he is picked on all the time and not given a fair go. why wasnt cogs played?:thumbsd:

I'm assuming you read the same review at PRE that I got this info from, one poster had his skills as good the other which is summarised above said that his footskills let him down. Seems different people see players in different ways.

Any word on how Casserly or Cartledge went?

Casserly didn't play

Lets hope Polo can get his way back into our team, he is a hardnut and along with Jackson, King and Tuck. Our midfield will start winning a lot of clearances and should be tackling well. Add in Foley, Johnson and Cogs and our midfield is looking tough and strong.

Mitch Morton is a guy who will not dominate but when he gets the ball will stand out at VFL level. Give him a go in the 1s and he wont disappoint probably his biggest hurdle at the moment is Pettifer is ahead of him. I can gaurentee you though he is a more consistant player than Pettifer. His best wont be a good, but his worst will be no where near Pettifers worst.

pettifer has established himself as a pretty good player at afl level, thats an insult to my intelligence to suggest a fella that isn't even a senior player is ahead of him....Not unlike the mensa at carlton trying to convince us they missed a kid who hasnt debuted and a big lug whos played 2 games:eek:

I assume this is refering to Coburg reserves. Looks like they are making this bloke really work his way onto the list, as it should be.

dont worry gunner, these are the same pest that called foley slow, cant kick, too small. serial pest who continually write off 19/20 year old kids because they arent playing like chris judd was at the same age.

Went to the game heres my Notes on some senior players

Morton (pretty much the reason i went down) - Played a fair bit out of defence and imo is NOT a backman he could however be down there to develop his defensive skills as a forward. His not too bad in a contest but his no good at following or tracking a man. He did get a ton of the footy as the GO TO man out of defence but his disposal wasnt great turned it over quite a number of times but after every mistake that usually resulted in a turn over and behind would demand the footy the next play and try to make a mends.
Think as a forward could be very handy and seems to have a bit of Prick in him also.

Connors - 2nd half was good ran through the middle of the ground and hit targets pretty well really like the kid, went for a few speccys too, im sure his playing 2s to fix his attitude (from what ive heard its poor) He definately has what it takes to play ones very soon, his very good at gathering a footy with a man coming at him and getting his hands free for a handball, has very good balance and is really good in close , he can kick to which is a bonus.

Tivers - yeah well he did what he does

Edwards - did a few classy things but i would like to see him DOMINATING games at that level his body isnt big enough yet but he has a red hot crack could be used in a dale thomas type role at afl level i think , play him on a wing let him run let him develop without getting crunched in the thick of it.

Riewoldt - was serviceable did have a pinch hit in the ruck which isnt his thing, has alot of confidence and from the sidelines u can hear him demanding the footy i even once heard him yell to a bloke who was on the wing the old "CENTRE IT" (he was about 17 m away towards the middle of the ground) he than sunk the slipper into it pounded it towards a goal square packed of Bullant Hacks

Mcguane - coming off an injury looks to be getting better will press for selection

Polo - started terribly his man killed him but than showed the class he has
got into the action ran hard played well and will be in the mix this week

I'm not a troll, so don't yell at me. Does anyone know of the VFL this week is at Coburg or has it been moved. I got told they were trying to move it due to the poor quality of the ground there at the moment.
