With my first selection I take Peter Moore. I had a number of players pretty evenly pegged for this selection but opted for Moore because of his strengths in the ruck. We don’t have too many out and out stars at the ruck position to choose from. Is equally capable at full forward.

Moore came after Thommo and really made the ruck position his own. He was incredibly athletic, a great mark and amazingly skilled for his height. He was well ahead of his time.

Moore is a Brownlow medalist, 2 times best and fairest, 2 x leading goal kicker, all Australian and Collingwood captain.

I loved watching Moorey Play. A great choice and a champion. I loved the song Mike Brady did about him.

I'll take Bob Rose with pick 7.

151 games, 4 Copeland trophies, 1953 premiership, TOTC centre and the most courageous player award named in his honour. Lacks the longevity of other champions, but his impact was just as great imo. Was the driving force that propelled Collingwood back to the top after the bleak decade of the 40s. An inspiring leader you can build a team around.

Iconic photo - was tossing up between he and Buckley. An absolute superstar player and an even better person. His book, A dignified life, was one of the best and saddest sporting books I've read. Should have had at least 1 premiership as a coach if not all 3.

One of the best to ever wear the Black and White. Brilliant choice. I was hoping he would slip through to Pick 20 lol.

With the 3rd pick I choose Albert Collier the Greatest CHB the game has seen and the toughest man to play the game. Made Dyer shake in his boots. Could win big games. 6 times Premiership player and a Brownlow Medalist. McHale said he was the greatest member of The Machine.
6 flags is such an absurd achievement. The Collier brothers are two of many Collingwood heroes who don't get the mainstream recognition they deserve, but Leeter in particular was fearsome.

All the choices thus far have been excellent

With pick 8 in I select - Peter McKenna

Peter McKenna is definitely someone you can build a team around.
Having had a wonderful career at Collingwood he amassed 180 games and kicked 838 goals (currently sitting 10th overall in the history of the AFL/VFL and second of all time at Collingwood) - averaging 4.6 goals a game.

Peter has won multiple Bob Rose Medals (best finals player), multiple AFL/VFL goalkicking awards, All Australian and a Copeland Trophy.

He was pretty stiff in 1970! Kicked 143 goals for the season and finished second in the league goal kicking (Hudson kicked 146).

Some of his feats are incredible:

98 goals in 1969
143 goals in 1970
134 goals in 1971
130 goals in 1972
86 goals in 1973

Not only a Collingwood great but one of the all time greats.

Pick 9 - Syd Coventry Snr

There were a few players I was considering with this pick, but I always feel your first pick should be your captain, so why not go the club's all-time Team of teh Century captain. Leading the team through The Machine era, he captained all four premierships and won the Brownlow in 1927. At the whopping height of 182cm, he played as a ruck back in those days, though I don't think I'll be playing him there in this game, he might struggle against the Thompsons and Moores of the world 😂

Anyway, welcome to the club Syd, what a career you had.

Ripper Choice. Loved watching him play. I wore Number 6 on my back.

Love the choice. My first pick was a toss up between Collier and Coventry.

A toss up between 4? ;)
I deliberately put Syd Coventry Snr to make sure there was no confusion between him and his son, who had a slightly less famed career of seven games in 1954.

It would have been quite ambitious to go for Syd Jr, but I would have admired the reach nonetheless!

Ripper Choice. Loved watching him play. I wore Number 6 on my back.

I wasn't around to see him back then but he was always one of my Dad's favourites. I have had a good education lesson on the 60's and 70's.
Love watching his highlights. Genuine superstar.

Well, what a slider. Had to check a few times to make sure my eyes weren’t deceiving me. But with pick 10, come on down…

Scott Pendlebury (centre)

will go down as one of the very best to ever play for Collingwood, so an absolute steal here. As a bit more of a reminder…
Collingwood

gouki88 two picks with plenty still on the board…
