I usually steer clear of the main boards, but holy helll Freomaniac, you might need to replace your keyboard after that onslaught. šŸ˜šŸ”„šŸ”„

Probably an unpopular opinion, but I thought Erasmus was OK last night.

Looked a step behind the pace to start, but picked it up as the game progressed. Some really nice link up work and used his big body at times to block to good effect.

I thought he was pretty good. We need size in the middle, and I think he provides it. I would like to play him in the middle for the rest of the year.

Exactly this, people are very critical of Erasmus but I thought both he and JOM were very important in the clinches with their blocking and second and third efforts.
I think the conditions suited his game and he helped free up Brayshaw and Serong…and didn’t take a backward step

The win again papers over some problems. Every week we rely on the pressure of the opposition to tire them out at the death, not much margin for error.
Agree.

Grind may 'work' (I say this after the routine heart failure involved in following Freo) in the H-A season but you can't give teams a 1-2Q head start in finals, no f way.

It may be great that we've finally learned how to be a 4th Q team and close matches out, but it just shouldn't get to that.

we were abject for the first half. and in finals that will translate, against a focused team, to an embarrassment of a 60+ point drubbing. need to be focused, with strategy in hand from the bounce.

it's reasonably predictable how certain other teams will try to play against us; Carlton's movement not great, they were always gonna focus on contest pressure and deleting Serong. we should've expected that and planned to deal with it sooner/earlier.

The first term, forward 50 entries were very shallow, which made it look like the forwards weren’t contesting.

From the flags, it looked like there was a howling gale that quarter, favouring the Carltank end, which then died off. Perhaps that’s part of the terrible start?

If it is, it’s a small part. We were smashed in clearance work. That was obvious, breeze or no breeze.

Idk maybe JL has grown as a game day coach šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø
The next step he needs to take is actually have his team prepared for the first bounce... too often we aren't switched on until half time.

You can get away with this against the Carlton's and St Kilda's of this world, but if we play like that against a good team in the first half, we'll be 10 goals down rather than 4.

He's definitely grown as a game day coach, and these come from behind wins have shown a lot of maturity from both the coaches box and the players, but to be a premiership contender, we need to be good across 4 quarters.

couldnt have really played any worse in that first half, good stuff to show we can halt a teams momentum and turn it around big time.

when young went down was a bit worried as were already missing MJ as well, but was super impressed by the physicallity of JOM in the second half, played with some real anger. at one point he threw himself at about 3 contests to win the ball, inspiring stuff.

cox and ryan are having a real ripper last few weeks, great efforts to keep us in touch in the first half along with worner and clark.

amiss i thought as well was really able to impose himself today, put some body on some oppo on occasions and kicked well. obvs treacy and voss were massive as well.

a down game from our small brigade but just goes to show we have multiple avenues to win a game.

lets hope bolton can get some form back in time for finals, big game player im sure

**** Carlton.

Wonderful turn around. Great adjustments by JL.

Voss, Treacy, Amiss, Jackson all stood up which is great especially considering age.

Bolton will need to stand up in Young's absence.

Someone needs to give Bolton an absolute serve.. my Tigers supporting mate did warn me of this, he's bloody selfish sometimes.

He could have easily had 2 goals, hard for him to weave magic with a bar of soap. I thought he was fine, let’s see his brilliance in a dry game.

It's more some of his decision making - going for the spectacular instead of just doing the team thing - I know we have paid for him to be the x-factor finisher, but sometimes the first easy off load handpass is the best option. A wet game usually isn't one for the highlights reel.

He sulked a bit in that first half too. Not asking for him to fully change his game, but just adjust to conditions somewhat.

I actually noticed him yesterday which for me signals a decent game.

Even just collecting the ball and keeping it in for another stoppage,

Most games i admit i hardly ever notice him out there because he has no impact on the game.

Got to say that was most enjoyable given my deep, deep seated hatred of Carlton.

Yep that last qtr was the most fun I've had at a game for years. Lost my voice by the end.

I ain't even mad at our first half because it just made flogging those w***ers in the last qtr all the more enjoyable.
