Really? Arden doing his best George Lucas?

I know nothing of the author but just checked and 'hipsterness' is most certainly still there.

And if the author really was George Lucas, Sam Sam Binks would have featured prominently.

To add to the general ridiculousness of the revisionist commentary surrounding North vs WB, think about this.
Coming into the game against the Bulldogs, we had had 2 consecutive 6 day breaks. We had just come back from Queensland for the second time. We lost Turner and Wright during the game.
In comparison, the Bulldogs had been at Etihad for 5 weeks straight, and had only one 6 day break beforehand.
If the Bulldogs were really as good as they are said to be, they would have beaten a tired North.
Stick that up ya Bullflogs

That was actually trotted out as an excuse. Something about the hard ground. I hope David King was on hand to rub down their poor, tired bodies.

Their first 11 weeks:

Etihad, Etihad, Etihad, Etihad, Etihad, Etihad, Etihad, MCG, Spotless, MCG, Etihad.

It's actually unbelievable.

They've left the CBD once.

No, we won the game. So he had slapped Boomer, Drew and Spud on the back and charged into our rooms ahead of the boys. Eyewitnesses tell me that by the time he got half way up the race he was fully stripped off and ready to jump into the showers.

Astounding. That's brave.

Although all I've heard in the media is how easy their draw is.

Oh wait.

Just in case it's been overlooked…

The AFL.com.au's almighty mid year report is out in earnest..

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2016-06-09/your-clubs-midyear-report-card-part-two

Every Kangaroos game so far

What's worked: The pre-season plan to hit round one firing on all cylinders. The Kangas are winning games they're expected to and have set up their season with nine wins on the trot.

What hasn't: It's not a major concern, but Ben Brown can be exploited when he pinch-hits in the ruck and North can lose some momentum.

Who haven't we seen enough of yet: Mason Wood. The versatile forward has impressed in his four games, but lack of opportunity in the early rounds followed by concussion means it's been a stop-start season to date.

Indispensable: Robbie Tarrant. Todd Goldstein is irreplaceable in the ruck too, but Tarrant is in All Australian calculations and no other Roo can stand monster key forwards with the same surety.

Coach score: Brad Scott shook things up over the summer after failing to win in round one from six attempts and – now a game clear on top at the halfway mark - the Roos' slow starts are a distant memory. His staunch defence of ageing warriors is being rewarded. 10/10

Big improver: Luke McDonald had a dose of the second-year blues last season, was brought in late for the semi-final and dropped for the prelim, but has cleaned up his kicking and is making much smarter decisions in defence.

Didn't see that coming: Nine straight victories to start the campaign. Some North fans still get nervous, but these Kangaroos win the games they should.

Non-negotiable: Having taken the opening half of the season by storm, the Roos' experienced group can't afford to waste this opportunity by dropping off and coughing up a finals double-chance.

Pass mark for the rest of the year: North has arguably the toughest run home of any side but, two wins clear of third, the Kangas shouldn't let a top four spot slip from here. That's the minimum for a pass mark, however top-two must be the aim. - Travis King

What's really baffling is this blurb on the Wet Toast write up..

Coach score: Coming off a Grand Final performance, and in a season with no standout team, the club might have expected to be sitting a little better. However at 7-4, Adam Simpson's team is in the mix for a top-four spot. 6/10.

Kingy on 360 last night - "great move by Brisbane to back Leppa, that's what they need to do as a club, etc"
KIng on the mid-season panel an hour later - "Leppa won't be there next year".

You see, Maxxy boy would'ves, could'ves and should'ves mean **** all in reality. You either kick the goal or don't. The only thing this "analysis" tells me is for whatever reason, spudness, pressure, un-coordination or dodgy tummies bue to a bad goat curry. They did not kick the goal.

That mid-season report from AFL.com is quite good; brief, but accurate. Travis King and that other guy who's name escapes me from that site actually do a really good job on their North coverage.

The amount of time dedicated to David King on this board is unbelievable.

Couldn't care less what he or any other media person thinks of our chances this year.

You can bet your left testicle Kingy will be on the North bandwagon in the blink of an eye come September spruiking to whoever wants to hear him… that he did say that North's best was yet to come.. even at midseason.

Campaigner ready to reclaim the North glory..:rolleyes:

Actually, you have completely ignored all of the other missed opportunities that could have turned into scoring opportunities. Such as, if hunters 44 positions had hit targets in attacking positions, allowing for a 50% conversion rate (conservative) that allows for another 22 22 154 to the f***scray score alone. If jack redpath had a fewore frees paid as expected, that would be another six. Boyd is on a mill a year, so at that rate he should have at least five and bobby Murphy should be worth three on etihad any week.

With all that extra scoring, there would have been no time for half of norths goals so take off five for that.

So it should have been a slaughter.

Let's see... NMFC 61 v F* 45.

Oh, I see. Would, could and should still equal nought.

Who is this Max Laughable fellow? It sounds like a pseudonym to me - sort of like Mr Laughable, perhaps.:$

Anyway, I'm looking forward to the day when we celebrate our best win: North 7.16.58 d Hawthorn 10.1.61. Party down at Arden St café/coffee shop that night.

And of course 23 to 14 free kicks.

They got an armchair ride with those lime green marghetts.

Barry Hall has written a submission to the AFL to be awarded the 2008 Brownlow Medal. Cooney "won" that year with 24 votes and Barry Hall got 4. But, after reading Max's very astute article, he's realised that IF he hadn't have snotted Brent Staker and got 7 weeks for it, he would have been eligible to win AND would have played 7 extra games which he MIGHT have been BOG in all of them, earning the 21 votes he needed. It makes sense.

Who were they again? IIRC, one of them was Sh(m)itt. Don't tell me Bulldog Pannell was one of the others?

On second thoughts, don't tell me. They do a tough job to the best of their ability and without their input AFL would not be the wonderful spectacle it is today.
