The biggest problem I have with Dwayne Russel is his constant calling for free kicks at every contest -

"Chop of the arms? No!"
"Push in the back? Not Paid!"
"Surely that's holding the ball! Got away with one there!"

Lucky he isn't an umpire.

So AA is biased towards Adelaide which no one on here seems to have a problem with, then why didn't the people complaining about Fawley et al just listen to the halfwits on AA then?

Well that sort of depends on whether or not you have access to a radio. I went over a friends place to watch us v Collingwood in the final last year. Wasn't going to be rude and ask them to turn the radio on. Cant remember who the the commentators were but it was pure agony having to listen to them. When I am at home, as soon as I sit to watch the game the TV volume goes down and AA gets turned on. AA is biased but they are broadcasting to a majority SA crowd, those biased Victorian rock apes are broadcasting to a National crowd.

For Christ's sake, how many times do we have to hear the same tired "well, your local radio station broadcasting to a local audience with plenty of alternatives is biased so why do you complain when a national TV station with exclusive rights to coverage is biased" excuse? It simply isn't comparing apples with apples.

More often than not, the TV footage is out of sync with the radio coverage any way. I kept the TV on because I wanted to actually see the game, and having commentary out of sync with the vision is jarring. This is entirely the point - if I want vision, I have no alternative but to listen to the commentary, or listen to silence. With the radio, you can change the channel if you don't like the call. With the TV, you don't have that choice.

I guess the question is why do people like listening to the biased AA commentary then?
Why do people enjoy listening to the gibberish which springs forth from the mouth of Rex Hunt? People listen to it because they love the colour provided by these people, compared to the relative sterility of less biased commentary from the likes of the ABC.

It's not for everyone - Stephen Rowe for one is certainly an acquired taste. People who don't like it can always listen to another radio station. The same cannot be said for the Foxtel commentators.

The lag annoys the sh!t out of me too. I've noticed there is even a lag between analog tv and the digital lcd. Does anyone know if the new digital radio setup will be in sync with digital tv? I'm not super savvy when it comes to all that technology stuff :o.

On topic: There is no excuse for a national broadcaster to have any bias, and any bias is unprofessional. The Fremantle game was nauseating !

my digital radio was around a second or two behind what was broadcast on tv with sound down:( Was listening to 5aa so not sure if was any different on ABC.

I guess the question is why do people like listening to the biased AA commentary then?

Because they can't get the unbiased rational analysis that is K-Rock on their radios in Adelaide?

FWIW, I don't like the AA commentary - but then again, Peter Walsh makes my skin crawl, so it's hard to find something that satisfies me for Adelaide home games. :(

Caught about 2 minutes of the 5AA commentary when the Crows plays us in a practice game earlier this year.. Had to switch off as it was like listening to an Adelaide Crows circle jerk.... :thumbsd:

Pot this is kettle over.
Try being a supporter of a non-South Australian team.
I have lived in Adelaide for over 10 years, and cant stand the local bias.
Drives me to "hate" both of your teams.

It sickens me that you cant even applaude the opposition when they kick a goal. When you lose, its either the umpires fault or your team(s) played poorly......at which point many of your fans tend to turn on them.
When I go to footy park, I quite get the impression that you want all the decisions to go your way.......well if that is what you want.....go to one of their training sessions.......remember, it takes 2 teams for a game of footy......and you can once in a while appreciate that there is another team playing.

And no, just because I support a Victorian team......I am not from Victoria.......I grew up in Queensland and played junior footy at the same club that Jason Dunstall originated from.

You might have some injuries this year.......but you are not the only team to have injuries......you have been lucky in the last few years....so perhaps this is the year you had to have.

good bye

Same thing over here mate.

Except Non Vic teams deal with NATIONAL COMMENTATORS being bias and having NFI about their teams.

Winge all you like, you get good national coverage and can listen to SEN.

Tim Lane's the worst, guy just doesn't know shit about footy, how to play it, current rules, players etc.

Walls is just a slow moran.

Mahers from my HS so I can't give it to him too much, but he's a goose.

Come to think of it, I don't like many people.

I hope you don't think it's any different anywhere else mate.

Yeah, people suck.

I think some of you guys are underrating Lane.

You can call him one eyed at times during Carlton games - but I think overall he's a fantastic commentator and has been in the gig since the 70's, he's very knowledgeable.

Tim Lane >> Quartermain/Underwood.

Why is Lane even commentating? I dislike some commentators because they're tools, but at least they knew something about the game at some point. Lane has always been a moron.

And a hypocritical one at that, never forget this is the man who walked out on Channel Nine because he said McGuire can't be impartial calling Pies games. And then I heard him on Ten and a Carlton game literally cheering for them :thumbsd:
