First (and Last) Elimination Final - At Home vs the Melons

cfb322b4-7c2d-426d-aa57-4fce728379f9_text.gif

tautology /tɔːˈtɒlədʒi/ noun - the saying of the same thing twice over in different words, generally considered to be a fault of style (e.g. they arrived one after the other in succession).

Welcome Wazzas to the review of last week's elimination final, which we discovered is an example of tautology in that being eliminated from season 36 is pretty f*cken final.

Look it was an enjoyable enough week in the match thread, as math threads with the Deez usually are. In fact we had two match threads, the regular one and the extra 'Survivor' one. We came second there too.

And so to game day. We got fine weather in the sim for the first time in weeks, but the first quarters remained the same. We've had some brutal first quarters in the past month, and when the visitors kicked 4 goals in the first 10 minutes the trend looked like continuing. Eight goals to one by quarter time and it was confirmed. We actually marginally outscored the Dees in the rest of the game but the balloon of enthusiasm was well and truly deflated by then, despite the visitors' claims of impending epic chokes. Six goals was the final margin, and the descent from first place to elimination was final.

last word.png

Well lads that's the season done and dusted. We'll do the Frankie before Christmas, and there's some other shenanigans that'll happen around the place as well.

The theme we adopted at the start of the season became a bit of a self-fulfilling prophecy in the end but, as a wise old man once said, "The incentive is getting to play with this group." So we go again in season 37, our 20th in the SFA. Because it's not about the destination, but it's all about the journey. And there's no other team I want to take this journey with!

#PwnedTrophy Eliminated Final

This segment is currently undergoing renovations so watch this space.

First up is a season Pwned achievement award going to Dinsdale for the evergreen pie-throwing at all opposition that overstep the line. If only we could throw pies at the Sim.

1700550546470.png

pantskyle catches the Demons out (it's %100 irrefutable and we should be reentered back into finals as a result).

1700555438091.png

spudmaster takes down an entire Scandinavian conglomerate.

1700556687176.png

It would be Un-Warrior of me to not nominate our Patron Saint Buscemi at least once this season so here's one curtesy of Tonga Bob -

1700557186873.png

However my winner (or weiner) of the round is zackah for this delightful burn -

1700557351565.png

Unfortunately that's all the opposition pwnage for the season, at least in matchday threads.

I'm sure they'll still be some activity between now and the next season (I'm not going to feign modesty, I've been overwhelmed by the positive feedback so am going to assume my list spot is safe for next season). Therefore I hope to see some typically wonderful posting from you all until then (or just hear that you're all well).

Last but definitely not least a huge thankyou to Tonga Bob for all the awesome weekly recaps (the best darn recaps in the league bar none) and the Frankston tallying!

Hey Wazzas, hope this update finds you.

I'm pleased to announce that the Frankston Rover Medal ceremony for season 36 will be taking place on Saturday the 23rd of December, which is also the date of Festivus this year. So while other clubs will be doing things like 'winning flags', 'stealing rookies' and 'changing team names' we'll be getting the aluminium pole out of the Van Cortlandt Park crawl space, finding out who the club award winners are for the season, airing our grievances and conducting Feats of Strength.

If you haven't yet cast your votes in the Frankston Rover Medal this season then I encourage you to do so, as voting will close by Sunday the 17th of December.

Enjoy the off season, and I'll see you on Frankie Night. It'll be a Frankestivus for the Rest of Us!!!

Are you and your cuz CursingFijian doing the Bad Santa routine again this year?

Imma change it up this year. I’m thinking naked Santa. Like the Naked Chef, but Santa.
That's the strippers sorted for the Frankie ceremony then.

Morning Wazzas, happy Buscemi Friday to you all. Quick update as awards season kicked off yesterday with the unveiling of the All-SFA team, and I'm proud as heck to report that we were well represented with four (4) Wazzas included in the team (although it shoulda been five).

We had two people named for the first time in Dinsdale at centre half back & spudmaster next to him on a half back flank, reprising their positions in our side. Both have had outstanding seasons, one a reward for seasons of hard work and the other a glimpse of amazing potential, and it's amazing that both share this accolade as Dinsdale recruited spudmaster!

Then at the other end of the spectrum we had The Filth Wizard being named for a record-extending fifteenth time! Narrowly missing out on the Fred, his 60 goals in the home and away season were enough to see Filthy named in a forward pocket. And in between was ya boi who picked up a cuddler's position and was made responsible for making sure the rest of the team behave themselves. Was also good to see Steve Buscemi accept the awards on our behalf.
