Riddle me this: If a far right group wanted to protest against immigration this weekend, do you think Dan would find it within his capabilities to put the stoppers on it?

He sold out Victorian health for a handful of Green votes.

You mean like how he shut-down the Bill Gates/5G/lock down protest?

1.5 metres distance please.

What’s last year got to do with it? Maybe give a reminder to your two Dees boys who broke the rules

Essendon are extremely lucky that McKenna had low levels of virus in his system when he was at the club, and subsequently was not highly infectious.

I'm surprised that the public health team at DHHS took Essendon at their word around the gym session.

It beggars belief that they were fist bumping at training sessions, while following social distancing protocols behind the closed doors in the gym session.

We know that Essendon has a difficult relationship with the truth and yet we are expected to believe that players wiped down equipment in between each set and did not spot each other during the session.

Don't piss on my leg and tell me it's raining.

Andrews and Gill both talk tough over COVID, but behind the scenes weak as piss decisions like McKenna here and other tracing stories show a soft underbelly.

Go hard AF at the source, get anyone around them in quarantine, even if they only smelt a fart of a COVID victim, then stamp this community transfer the **** out!

I would imagine so. At the very least due to unemployment and financial strains. 8 people a day commit suicide.

You cant say suicide:

- 'accidentally fall of a bridge'
- 'accidentally put a rope around their neck and hang from it'
- 'accidentally leave their car running in the garage'
- 'accidentally shoot themselves in the head'

*if you or you know someone having problems, please call beyond blue yada yada yada

So are there any stats being published to compare how many suicides a day are happening in Australia now compared to before restrictions?

Not saying Financial strains/unemployment are not devastating, of course they are. They might be less devastating if we funded social services properly though.

Maybe they can count suicides as a covid-19 death during the period - beef those numbers up

then there’d be no football being played at all.
Ok fair call, how about stop bullshitting me then?

If it's dangerous for me to be within 1.4 meters of the checkout chick at Coles while I'm getting pack of smokes then there's no way it's safe for McKovid to blow snot all over his team mates, spit in his hands, tackle and hug his co-workers for 14 minutes at a time and not put at risk his team-mates.

I agree with you, but that was a slightly different thing in that a major sponsor suddenly called in a debt and lodged an application to send the club into liquidation.

That's not quite correct. Fitzroy never went into liquidation. If they did they wouldn't exist in their own right today. Which they do.

I know this would stir up passions and some supporters of the relocated teams would drop off but, as was shown with Brisbane/Fitzroy, some would stay loyal and this would have provided a better base than the zero that GC and GWS started with. There would also have been a player base which could have been topped up with additional draft concessions

Brisbane's motivation in rebranding to look more like Fitzroy was certainly to pick up a more sizeable Melbourne support base. That's why the Adelaide Crows also made an approach to Fitzroy in 1996 to become the 'Adelaide Lions'.

the biggest impact would have been the reduced financial drain on the AFL. If you assume the relocated clubs would have received the funding provided to GC & GWS, the savings would have been the funding the have received in the 10 years since the expansion took place.

The problem is that the AFL does not own most clubs. They issue the club or company with a licence to compete in the AFL competition. One of the strengths of the competition is the relative stability of the member clubs. Frequent entries and exits of clubs weaken the farbic of the competition and the AFL is generally concerned to maintain that.

The prudent response here would have been to isolate McKenna's training group and postpone the match. This should be obvious to anybody with even a modicum of common sense. The thing people really seem to be missing is that while the risk of an outbreak is very low, the reward is also miniscule. The game can easily be postponed. It's like playing Russian roulette with a 100-chamber gun to win 10% off your next Hungry Jack's order. You'll almost certainly win, but why the f*ck would you risk it?

The DHHS has proven to be staggeringly incompetent at times throughout the crisis. I know some of you think deferring to the experts in turn makes you smart, but you are putting your faith in data and expert knowledge that doesn't actually exist, and in people who have been demonstrably fallible.

If you think there is some magical '14 minutes, you won't get it, 16 minutes, you're stuffed' rule, then I've got some bad news for you. The 15 minute rule is about setting standards for population-wide contact tracing based on the legitimate (and plainly intuitive) scientific evidence that more exposure time = more risk. But there is no scientific basis whatsoever to conclude that if you were only with someone for 10 minutes, that you didn't get exposed. It is not a principle to be applied to people where known close contact like hugging and proximity to strenuous physical exertion has taken place. The fact that it has been is a testament to DHHS's incompetence, not anything else.

How many times a game do you see a player spit or snot their nose. Its not uncommon at the best

Are you sure of that?
Having recently gone through this at work I will disagree with you
well that may be, but we can certainly say that half the workplaces in Melbourne are on long-term quarantine till July-august at the earliest *just on risk* of a positive test. Now here is a group of non-essential workers who literally cuddle each other half naked as a job, have a positive test among them, but aren't even going to do 2 weeks.

just no words for AFL management.

The entirety of training is filmed so you don’t need to take anyone’s word for anything.
