Round 1: 1, 2, 13

List Spots Available (39 of 48):
• Main list (33 of 38) - 5* (in: Starcevich, Young out: Allen, Ryan, Chesser, Hunt, Petruccelle, Jamieson)

Matt Clarke wraps up the trade period - 6PR

Not sure if we have any regular VFL watches but Flynn Riley from Carlton is one we should maybe looking at. Numbers look pretty good, is a good size.

There was a little bit of talk the Blues rate him highly.

The last update on CDT was that he is now 204cm, same as Tim English in hid draft year. So lack of hieght is not really a valid argument.

looked at his VFL and talent league videos and he is a great mark. Has the speed to separate and gets in good positions. A number of slick hand off's for goals.

I don't see why you don't like him. Am I missing something?
What update is that? The throaway comment from Archie Ludowyke? I've not seen any other reference to him being over 200cm.

I don't think he's a great overhead mark, and he definitely has speed, but doesn't seem to have great positioning when playing forward. I think he has potential to be a great footballer, but the Luke Jackson comparisons are a hell of a stretch.

-He's not a good ruck, and if we did want a ruck we have BVR and Axel Walsh to target next year.
-He doesn't look to be a great key forward at this stage, and if we did want a kpf we could split the pick and end up with Schubert, who looks much better as a kpf. We've also got a lot of kpf options, and the rumous about Jed Walter for next year may also be true.
-He has a lot of attributes of a good midfielder, but wouldn't we be better with someone like Sharp or Cumming if we want a midfielder? The no ruck/extra midfielder strategy has been a failure for other teams in the past.

I just don't see how he fits into the plan for our rebuild. I'd love it if he actually has grown to 204cm and he becomes a clearer option for pick 2, but only because it will mean that we can get more value for splitting the pick.

So sick of the Eagles not doing anything. That's it for me for the year, lads. I'm only coming back to post AFLW Eagles stuff but as far as the mens side goes I'm scorched.

Catch everyone come finals time

I would rather teach someone ruck work than try and get a ruckman to become an athletic beast. Unless they are Nic Nat quality tap ruckman, it can easily be trained. Never seen a 200cm player get top 10 ten in the 20m sprint and top ten in 2km time trial.
Never seen a ruckman get 10th best leap and called a ruckma

It's Brendar all over again

More quotes from Willem

“I’ve been pretty close to Harley since he was in the under-12s playing with Zane,” Duursma said.

“He’s a good man. He’s a lot more mature than when he started in the AFL. He’ll be a good leader eventually. It’d be nice to play with him … he’s certainly been asking me to try and come over, but we’ll see what happens.”

Do we have enough rookie spots for Robertson, Clohesy and Blamires?

All would dominate the WAFL and put some instant heat into match sims.

I kinda think they'd all be more valuable to the list build than a Wes Walley as an example if we had to choose between them.

I do get the appeal of Tom Berry too, but he's only kicked 3 goals in the last two years at VFL level (3 from 13 games).

Clohesy kicked 10 goals from his last 13 games as a mid/hff as a comparison.
Blamires 4/ last 13
Robertson 3/ last 13

Berry would be coming in almost strictly as a f50 pressure machine now that Cripps is ancient and the kids are too young to have the tank or experience

I know it’s the field she’s studying, I just don’t know how I feel about players picking potential players. She’s more likely to bring in biases regarding the playing group, which I think shouldn’t impact recruiting.

FWIW, I don’t mind the players getting development at coaching across the different programs.
With Pick 1, The West Coast eagles & Bella Lewis select.
Mitch Brown.

I'm a bit the same but for a different reason.
Even though I'm not bothered who they take out of Dursma, Sharp and CDT, I'll just wait until after the draft to whinge continually about not getting one of them or whinge about the fact that they did pick one or two of them.

Can some one explain why Dev can “walk” to us as a delisted free agent through the pre season supplementary period but Ah chee cant do the same to Adelaide ? Seems odd.

RookieMe got Tylah Williams going in the 15-30 range. Expect us to use our picks after 13 to bid on him...unless they don't wanna bid...I dunno what this club's up to these days.

Because once you get delisted (ie out of contract and not offered another one) you can go wherever you want as "delisted FA"

Ah Chee was out of contract but offered a new one so doesn't qualify hence has to be traded or go into a draft (ND or Psd)
