This is what i would like to see heading into 2023. Originally i had 9 out with Hurn and Dixon also being delisted but i wasn't sure if that would be possible, so i have those two staying. Players like Langdon, Foley and Dixon are fortunate to get another year, while it does seem we're slowly getting to a point where midfielders are at a surplus particularly with our first rounder also most likely being a midfielder. This could potentially mean a surprise delisting like Clark, Winder or O'Neill.

Overall i think an off season like this would put the team into pretty good shape heading into next season, hopefully we get to see a rejuvenated a side with lots of young talent running through it next year.

Draft

2 Phillipou - bottom ager, bid bodied mid, classy disposal, kicks goals, most upside.

20 Traded for L.Baker - Premiership player, tough as nails, good kick and decision maker, knows how to find the footy

26 Barnett - don't know much about him, but seems like a good project ruckman with lots of upside

3rd rounder Darcy Jones - silky skills, quick, high risk high reward pick.

Late/Rookie J.Baker - liked what iv'e seen from him could develop him into a decent back pocket.

Two more spots left to fill, i'll leave those for the experts.. to sort out.
Just a note. Baker isn’t leaving Richmond to move to us to play back pocket.

He may not be worth pursuing if that the case. He's versatile which is great, but i don't think he's worth pick 20 to play midfield for us with some of the talent we've got coming through under the assumption we draft a mid with our first. He'd be a great back pocket/half back though and i think he'd be worth it if he were to play that role.

Watching the game tonight? If we can get Baker with our second pick it would be a steal. He is exactly what we need around our midfield. Adds a bit of backbone and is a very good footballer.

Not sure why we’d give up pick 20 for him. He’ll be 25. Would rather we loaded up on the youth.

I'm watching and he played the majority of the first quarter in defence. He's a good midfielder as well no doubt, i said "he may not worth be pursuing in that case" i'm well aware he's the kind of player we need hence why i said we should give up pick 20 for him. 26 would obviously be better, but i think 20 would be fair.

From the Herald Sun.

Richmond has upped its offer to Liam Baker as it tries to ward off a home-town assault from West Coast.

The Tigers are believed to have offered Baker around $600,000 over two years, which would reward his brilliant form as the Tigers’ jack-of-all-trades.
Richmond is attempting to reconfigure its midfield and while it has interest in both GWS midfielders Jacob Hopper and Tim Taranto, the Tigers are believed to favour Hopper.

Hopper has battled all year with a knee injury that required multiple surgeries but has a touch of class to go with his strong inside clearance game.
But there is no point the Tigers securing Hopper and losing Baker, who can easily play as a centre square midfielder as well as forward and back
Baker is considering whether to return to West Australia to be closer to family but is yet to make a decision on his future.
Richmond has its own first-rounder and North Melbourne’s second-rounder so is well stocked if it can retain Baker and offer early picks for Hopper.

Baker is having a very good game tonight against freo. Would be a great addition to our team.

He’s had 18 touches. Only 6 contested and going at less than 50% disposal efficiency. He works in the tigers system of chaos ball and constant shoveling it forward but not sure that’s how we want to play.

So Liam Baker's been offered 2 yrs at 600 thou a year by the tigers, recon we can nab him?

I appreciate what baker does bring in the attack and intensity, but, he’s not a great ball user, not damaging, he’s small, he doesn’t get clearances, just not sure he’s the type of player we need at this stage. Where would we play him?
Would prefer a player like Reuben Ginbey at this pick.
