It's a valid point to raise if that is the case - those figures do look odd

I think maybe your needless 'socialist' and 'comrade Dan' crap is taking away from any points you might have
I think most of his remaining defenders probably fall toward the former category.

Don't think I've ever used the term 'Comrade Dan'.

Watch the episode though. Very good points raised about the under-staffing of Victoria's health and crisis management responses compared to other states.

It can't be. I don't know much about state health budgets, but there is no way Victoria's is only $0.6bn. There'll be some selective counting of different departments ("health" is not the same in every state), if not outright fabrication, going on there.
There is no way that is the Budget of each health department.

Just Google Health and Being Agency statements for SA. Volume 3 of State Budget papers.

Payroll alone is over $3b

Breakdown for each Health service is in those Statements as well

1 new case - woman in her 20s who was a close contact of 2 other cases. Thebby cluster is up to 5.

~70 close contacts, and SA Health has decided to put all of them in quarantine in the MediHotel. The rest of the school is being asked to self isolate until Aug 15 (Students and staff, approx. 1100 people). Thebarton Senior college is closing until further notice.

Do they say if the new case had already been isolating?

It's public health specifically, not hospitals, doctors, etc.

Just goes to show - if you are choosing to isolate at a hotel away from family, don't have young women visiting you in your room.

Yeah... I know why they've lumped us in with NSW. I do understand that we're only 3 hours down the Hume/Federal Highway, and that it would be very easy for people from Sydney to come here and pretend to be from the ACT.

I still find it laugable that the ACT is a "hotspot", despite not having a positive in 27 days, and no active cases for 6 days. No other state or territory has a longer current covid-free streak.

there have already been a couple of people who tried this (drove to Canberra to fly up here) and they lied on their declaration card. THAT’s why ACT Has been lumped in with Sydney. Don’t blame Qld, blame the dick heads you let into ACT!

The ACT, which has no active CoViD-19 cases, is not going to close its border to a significant portion of its workforce, which also has no active CoViD-19 cases, on the off chance that Queensland might need to do some tough posturing.

NSW has no active cases?

You should report this to the authorities immediately

He's talking about Struggle Town (AKA Queanbeyan), which sits just over the NSW side of the border. A large part of the ACT's workforce lives in Struggle Town. Struggle Town has no active cases.

It's laughable that they had to come up with a fiction to justify their decision. I understand and accept the reasoning why they did it - but it's still laughable that they're referring to the ACT as a "hotspot" when it's the least "hot" spot in the country.

Ah gotcha. Perhaps struggletown should close its borders to NSW 😅

Can confirm what jenny said. All over the news here today that some douche from a hotspot tried to fly in to Qld from the ACT without declaring their true origin.

Not particularly controversial. I think SA shut out the ACT at the same time they shut out NSW didn't they?

Hemp is a far better alternative to cotton, requiring very little water in comparison and providing similar uses. I can’t understand why we aren’t growing it instead.
Why aren’t we growing s**t tonnes of poppies. Will people start to invade us.
Hemp is a comfortable fibre but it goes through several processes before its silky smoove.

Struggle town LOL, makes you sound like an elitist calling it that.

Oh for goodness sake. They didn’t make anything up. I’m not sure if you’ve noticed, we’ve had 14 people (all Queenslanders) return in the last 10 days, and ALL lie on their border declaration. Two of these had come from Canberra airport. Don’t take this as an affront. We just clearly can’t trust people to do the right thing. So for the purposes of our border closure, ACT has been declared a hotspot too.

It was called that when I was a kid (so a long time ago). And it was the Arse end of the world Back then. Now it’s more or less a suburb of Canberra (Though still in NSW).
