COVID chaos! WA border threatens entire AFL fixture

It's hard to sympathise when:

1. West Coast and Fremantle DID have home games in 2020, including the final
2. You guys spent all of last year arguing VIC bias and blaming the AFL instead of your own government
3. It's your government unnecessarily doing this when other states like QLD, NT and SA have been more flexible due to the low risk
4. You have an election coming up where you can make a change. If McGowan is elected again, then you reap what you sow.
5. 16 other teams were financially hit last year and want to play some football while following reasonable safety protocols to recover some of the losses.

2020 was far worse for Victorian teams both mentally and financially than it was for WA sides. We can't afford to continuously change things because of your government.

By the by, there is no opposition party in WA, ....... oh the Cockies are shouting out, “we are still here”.

Very interesting.

Hes not being careful. Hes trying to win a election. Being tough on coronavirus and being anti east. He will change his tune after he wins.

The comment about being “anti east”, is not really how the person in the street sees it, they are just happy to wander around with no restrictions. The “anti east” thing is only brought up in the political arena.

There still could be a bit of resentment in WA political circles, with the zero support from fellow states in their quest for GST reform. Think about it, we want our footy teams to be able to play everywhere Versus how about a better share of the GST, ...... no way, get f...d, piss off.

No one, and I mean no one takes any notice of the Worst. It is lambasted from pillar to post over their “pre school” type of journalism.

The Worst is tabloid journalism at it’s worst, does not relate well to the average person in the streets views.

I know it's terrible but it is the WA newspaper and they do run "anti east" stuff a fair bit.

The Worst is pretty funny to read when you are visiting Perth.

Makes you wonder if we really need an AFL season at the moment, with the virus still plaguing our planet.

Might be time to pull up stumps and let the players and officials focus on staying safe in this unprecedented time.

I’m looking forward to an unprecedented time where people cease to use the ridiculously overused word unprecedented

McGowan is a dropkick, enjoying bizarre popularity by the "Sandgroper" programmed sheep. Just kick both teams out of the comp for a year and go 16 teams! This bloke is a political opportunist.

political opportunist hey ?lol

name one who isn’t

every single elected member in every state and federal seat lives for the moment of opportunity to score a point for themselves

McGowan does his job without rambling on with mindless word drool

voters like that

it’s a total rag of a paper

i stopped buying a copy 10 years ago

We did not get 7 in a row at our home ground leading into the finals

2020 season was also a Covid affected season where 2019 was not
Word salad. You got about 7 home games to Victorian based teams 0.

And couldnt even muster top 4.

No ticker your lot and the good teams irrespective of the draw ate them alive like you deserved.

It is the WA government doing this and it affects the WA teams. There is an election on, up to the people of WA if they want things to change or not.
They should storm the capital building, clearly this isn't what West Australian's voted for..

That headline they run on the Dirty Pies pre that final was embarrassing

Credit it has to be said that a fair few WA supporters big footy called them out on it

Look at the opinion polls. They like being locked away from the scary outside world.
Personally I've loved living life as if there's no pandemic going on. Eating at restaurants, attending live music, shopping whenever I want, not needing to wear a mask. It's been great. Don't care if McGowan is "doing it for the votes", it benefits the people he represents so why would we complain? 5 days of lockdown in the last year compared to other states isn't a bad result.

Also have always found it strange that when a politician does something unpopular, "they only care about themselves". But when they do something popular with the people, "it must be because there's an election coming up". People will find a reason to complain about anything.

Happy for the Dockers to stay in Melbourne for a few weeks starting in R1. We can use Marvel as our training base because the AFL own it now. Get 6-7 games out of the way against Melbourne teams and then come back and do 5-6 games at home into the bye. Will be the least travel we ever have to do in a season and apparently the lads really enjoyed the hubs last year.

Get all the teams vaccinated ASAP and by the time we get to mid season there should be enough evidence from around the world that the vaccine also reduces transmission; so McGowan (fresh from a landslide victory in the election) will have much less reason to not make an exemption for footy teams.

Nah but 7 at the same ground leading into the finals was totally a gift to the eventual premiers

There was no Covid in 2019 either which makes it even more of an asterisk
It was nice to make up for receiving half a home advantage in the 4 months prior to it. Would've been nicer if we had a couple of extra home games early and didn't have to win 9 in a row just to make top 4.

But hey, don't let the truth get in the way of some #ViccoBias
