Anyone else frustrated that this will be the 6th year in a row Port have finished above us? even worse they look like they have got their crap together this year and will almost certainly be in the GF. Going to be one long painful summer and 2024 if they win the flag. It will be a great year if Port dont win the flag. How would you cope if they won it?
Log off bigfooty and I probably wouldn't even know. It's not like I have Port flogs calling me up.

Did you collapse in a heap in 2004?

Airlines tend to charge like a wounded bull for wi-fi - especially in economy class (Virgin charge something like $20/hour from memory now - it was free under their previous management).

If you're in business, or a high tier frequent flyer, you might get free wifi access, but even then it's usually the airlines basic offering which will last you about 10 minutes.

Qantas is the exception here, offering free wifi on their flights. I've found their wifi to be pretty decent and have streamed live footy on it fine.
Emirates charge $10usd ph I believe.

QANTAS and Qatar offer it for free.

Qantas’ wifi is largely limited to domestic flights on their 737’s currently (though I believe they’re just about to launch international wifi on their 787’s and A380’s)

I rarely fly qantas. In fact never internationally. Always found they are super expensive in comparison to better airlines and I've never understood why.

Singapore Airlines has started giving away free WiFi for members of their frequent flyer program in economy, I think Delta in the US has started this as well, probably the way it's heading now.
Probably go the same way as hotel wifi. 10-15 years ago you paid for it, now it’s free (not that you really need hotel wifi these days with the size of most mobile data plans these days)

It just makes sense on planes

Airlines can still provide inflight entertainment without the additional cost having screens on every seat and the infrastructure to support them

Having travelled recently on QANTAS, they didn’t have Wifi on either of the 787 or 380 I flew on in premium economy from the US to Australia . Reason given was trouble finding an international service provider.

Must be new for Qatar. I was charged 18 months ago for WIFI. I am flying Qatar in a month so I will check it out.
or maybe they charge now.

I last flew with them (well, on a widebody aircraft) was in 2018. So maybe they do charge now (The small body aircraft I flew 8 months ago didn't even have wifi)

so how does Emirates among others do it.

Though, I think starlink is now good enough that you could probably use it.

Staff wages would be what they'd say.

But tbh. It'd be taxes the airline would pay. Over a decade ago I did a travel course and learnt the ticketing side of things. Most tickets are heavy on taxes and fees. And one of the highest taxes and fees were always airport charges. Hence why if you're flying to America it's almost always cheaper to go via Brisbane as their fees are lower (quite substantially) than Sydney/Melbourne. However, if you're going to Europe, most of the airlines you'd use (ie. Qatar, Emirates, Malaysian etc.) are government owned or have a very good deal with the government (It's why Qatar maintained their network through covid despite going at about a 5-10% load factor) that you may not pay the $200-$300 tax an airport/state/country would charge to just use the airport.

Certainly didn’t have it internationally in the last month or so.

I’ve just recently flown Cathay Pacific and Qantas (similar route - London and back). Both were fine (premium economy) but Qantas flight (A380) newer and far more comfortable. Food hotter on Cathay but tastier on Qantas. Crew are brilliant on both.

Nice. Ive been lucky and flown quite a few really good airlines...and some average.

Its interesting. The government owned airlines are proving to be a genuinely good investment in tourism. Qatar and Emirates are great airlines.

It maybe free on some routes and charged on others too. I flew into the USA and I was charged in 2021. So I am not sure what to think. I am not fussed though about having it.

Qantas will shortly have wifi on selected international flights whilst Qantas is over Australia. Won’t be available once they leave our airspace.

Looking at the AFL app leading goal kickers list, I cant see Rachelle and Pedler on there at all. Pedler on 19 should be level with Stringer, and Rachelle in 16 but theres no one on 16 at all. Last week they had Fogarty on 17 I believe. Useless.

6 Crows in the top 44 goal kickers is pretty amazing considering 5 of them are 23 or younger!!
