Drummond can make sense, for example Douglas vs Campbell selection, but it is just jammed in the middle of so much Norwood propaganda drivel that it is hard to decipher sometimes.

They had to make a choice on Douglas and Campbell. They went with Douglas. Let's not pretend we know the ins and outs of the selection panel's decision, because we don't. Just wait and see what happens. Douglas could end up playing in a pocket and kicking 3. Who knows.

I know everyone is getting stuck into Drummnd but I couldn't agree more. Lets face it we are not going to go from 12th to a flag in 9 weeks. There needs to be some imagination and ricks taking by the selectors and a more long term focus.

The fact that Shirley is selected ahead of Pfeifer is a joke, surely Pfeifer is the better player regardless of how many AFL games he has played. The selection of Shirley is a defensive moev and is one of the reason we are sitting 12th at the moment. the coahing panel and game plan is way too defensive and low risk.

The way were are ggoing we are going to finsih every season between 6th and 12th for the next decade.

Ridiculous.

Ok to expand on my initial post:

1. Why did Bryce Campbell even make his debut last week? He had 54% game time and had 8 possessions, 4 marks and 88% disposal efficiency. Ironically these were the exact same stats as Douglas the week earlier, so to drop Cambell and recall Douglas makes absolutely no sense at all. In his interview with FiveAA Campbell said he barely slept the 3 days prior to making his debut so to drop him after his first game is just senseless. What a way to shatter his confidence.

2. Why is Robert Shirley back in the team? He had a whopping 7 possessions against the Dockers (should mention that was LESS than Campbell last week) and was subsequently dropped, which was the correct call. Yet after not playing at any level last week, he’s back, after 1 week on the sidelines. Aren’t we meant to be looking to the future, not looking back at dead wood?

3. Why is Richard Douglas back after being out of the side for one week? He had 20 possessions and a goal last week for Glenelg, and wasn’t named in his sides best players. So he played a reasonable game, but hardly outstanding and deserving of a recall. So why was he even dropped in the first place if he was always going to come straight back in?

4. Those who are bagging me for wanting Pfeiffer in the team should just give it a break. If any of you have actually seen him over the past 3 weeks you would realise he’s thoroughly deserving of making his debut this week. In the past 3 weeks he’s been best, 2nd best, best. Now our great coach is all for making the youngsters “earn” their place in the side well hasn’t he done just that? Seems he’s got double standards, one for Douglas and one for Pfeiffer.

5. Why isn’t he even in the squad of 25? Do we have any talent recognition at this club?

6. How on earth is Jericho in the squad of 25, when he has been hands down beaten by Pfeiffer over the past 3 weeks? Good to see Luke will be around next year as he definitely offers this club so much hardness and courage.

Who said that when you debut, you're guaranteed a game the following week?

Adelaide Crows vs. Port Adelaide Power

The teams for Showdown XXIII.

HF: Brett Burton, Ian Perrie, Chris Knights
HB: Michael Wilson, Troy Chaplin, Peter Burgoyne
F: Scott Welsh, Ken McGregor, Nick Gill
B: Michael Pettigrew, Toby Thurstans, Jacob Surjan

Crows in Bold

Power in Teal

I know quoting myself isn’t good but.

Look at our forward line (it’s not great) compared to their defenders. Take Michael Wilson out of the mix and they have very little experience to fall back on. If the Hudson, Goodwin, Edwards and Knights win there spot we will win.

Midfield pressure will be the factor this week. If our midfielders can get on top, their defender will struggle.

Nick Gill may have only played his first game last week but he is still a mature player with tones of experience in big games (SANFL finals, VFL finals) and could be a very valuable member of the forward line.

Looking at that – I have some new found confidence that we can kick 15 goals and find a way of closing them down. I am tipping us to win this week in a close one.

Who said that? It’s just that you don’t normally drop someone after they make their debut because realistically on debut you’re likely to perform your worst due to the nerves.

This is vintage Adelaide Crows supporters, to be honest. I don't claim to be the perfect supporter, but some of you need to give the "OUR COACHES ARE A JOKE" drivel a rest. They were going fine when they dragged us from potential wooden spooners to Top 4. Now we've hit a wall, and they're all of a sudden INCOMPETENT AND HAVE NO IDEA.

And some of you wonder where we get our "Chardonnay Fairweather" stigma from.

Are you really 27?

Pfeiffer won't play this year.

Next week Rutten and Reilly will be back, so do you think we'll play Pfeiffer too and make another "unnecessary" change?

And anyone who was at the game last week, or who’s been at the past 3 Norwood games, could see Pfeiffer is miles ahead of Jericho, and yet Pfeiffer’s not even in the squad of 25 and Jericho is.

Neil Craig, you and your selection committee are a joke. We’ll be suffering through mediocrity for years thanks to you and your stubborn attitude and inability to develop the youth.

Stop acting like a petulant child, even my 11 month old baby doesn't spit his dummy out as often as you do.....

have you got him kicking a football yet ? i'm sure we can get some documents saying that Michael Doughty is the biological father :D

Oh, people can come up with statistics to prove anything, Kent. 14% of people know that.

Wash that mouth out - the father is one and only Mr Nathan Bassett :D

What a great way to build up a young guys confidence. Play him for one game and them drop him. Well done Neil Craig. :thumbsu:

On a positive note, good to see Douglas and Porp back.

Hooray Doughty finally gone, not happy with Campbell being dropped but you get these things I suppose. Time to unleash Porps into a midfield role this weekend me thinks. And don't bloody bench him in his rest time stick him on the HFF. That's whats bugging me this year this "resting" of our best players. Stick Goody or Edwards up forward for ten minutes and see what happens.

Ive gotta agree with drummond on this one. The selections made are terrible. How can we drop Bryce Campbell after his first game and only playing half a game at that. The time he was on the ground he was okay. Pathetic decision.

How can Robert Shirley get re-selected. He is an average player and very average tagger. If he tags Shaun Burgoyne, Burgoyne will end up with 30 possesions and three of four goals. This selection is an absolute joke.

Pfieffer more than likely wont get a game this year as Neil Craig seems more worried about his coaching record than developing his younger players. John Meeson might as well start packing his bags as he has no chance of getting a game with the crows selection policy at the moment. As for people who think Sellar maybe a chance to get a game this year - yeah right

Maybe now we can understand why Fergus Watts returned to Victoria.

Port will win easy this week and shirley will get his normally bath as a tagger!
