Can someone explain how it would work being that the crows have a squad of 44 i think, 22 play for them each week, there will no doubt be 5+ injured each round how could a reserve side possibly field a team each week?

If it's not an aligned SANFL club it would be SA Under 18 playersi think most have missed the point of the thread. Not if we should have a reserves team or not, but rather how a team would be filled due to only 44ish players on the crows list.
this, it's how Sydney fill out their squad which plays in ACTAFLIf it's not an aligned SANFL club it would be SA Under 18 players
Yeah the magpies will eventually become our reserves team and like the Crows will probably just have 10 or 12 top up players. It isn't apart of the One PAFC proposal because it would give us an unfair advantage over you guys until you get your own team, so trying to do it now would just complicate things and reduce our chances of getting it approved.
But as soon as you guys get it together we will be ready to make the change.
Should and hopefully will happen.
If Port and the Crows want reserves sides they can play them in the VFL like everyone else.
Wont happen in the SANFL.
The AFL should have a reserves comp, I think somewhere down the line people will soon start questioning whether Collingwood and Geelong having their own reserves teams has been advantageous to their player development and success.
IMO our system leaves too much responsiblity for the development of players at the mercy of their respective SANFL coaches. As others have brought up in the past a poorly coached SANFL team can potentially be detrimental to the development of players on our list ie would someone like Talia be developing better at Centrals rather than South?
For me there is no doubt that a reserves side would greatly assist the development of our side both from a team perspective (players playing together) and from the point of view that we can play them in the positions best suited to their AFL development ie key position players not being played as ruckmen etc
Seriously, this rubbish again?

Are the AFL licence ownership and us having a reserves team linked? With the 20th year coming round its a good time to say to the SANFL. We've been your cash cow for long enough let us do what is best for us. Chance of this happening...![]()

Just asking, not saying that they're not.
