Both for one year.
I think its a good move, Cupido should benifit the same way McVeigh has knowing he needs to prove himself.

And it looks like Courtney could be ready to play by May. Fantastic news for the club.

Bombers stick with Johns, Cupido signs
Wednesday, 22 September 2004
Essendon will stick by injured-plagued youngster Courtney Johns, announcing today that his contract had been extended for a further year. And the Bombers have also moved on Damian Cupido - he too has been signed to a one-year deal. The vast majority of the Essendon list is now contracted for season 2005.

Johns has constantly battled serious hip injuries for the past three years and he underwent another operation mid-season. It finished his 2004 season - a year in which he played limited football for the Bendigo Bombers.

"The early signs are that he is progressing well and if things continue along those lines he might be playing by May next year and obviously resume running and full training a couple of months before that," Essendon assistant coach Mark Harvey said.

"We have high expectations of Courtney if we can get him fit and playing. He is taking up a spot on the list and thus far the return has been minimal. However the way he has conducted himself during the time he has been sidelined has been sensational and it ensured in some ways that we were prepared to stick by him."

Harvey said Cupido's one-year renewal might not be a bad thing for the 22-year-old. Cupido struggled to get fully fit last season and his output was well short of what he provided in 2003.

"Sometimes players needs to live on the edge," Harvey said.

Very happy with that.

Cupido had a crappy season injury wise. Arrogant he might be, but stupid he's not. He knows he needs a 'good' year coming up or he will be playing with Richmond.

Johns.... if this kid can get a game.... yes, well, weve heard it all before. In all seriousness if it works out the investment will be well worth it.

No just stating the facts, Cupido is ******** and no other club would want him. I know bomber fans who hate him as well

Not a decision to celebrate at Windy Hill

Keep it coming eddie..id like nothing more than a reason to boot your arse.

Couldn't care if he never played another game ever again...as long as we can remember the day he booted 5 goals against your mob.

just shows how stupid you are. He had no pre season ,missed the first half of the year with complications from his knee injury so he was never going to be fit enough to make an impact.
