Peter O'Farrell was a town planner before he went to the Victorian Bar. He's a North Old Boy, so vaguely has a sporting background, and has done some AFL tribunal work. His practice is substantially planning, residential developments, wind farms, heritage matters.

He's obviously respected by Hawthorn's lawyers.

What we needed in this case was an experienced QC (like the prosecutor who has been an extremely competent QC since 2007) who would aggressively contest the alleged act of tripping. Get the charge thrown out and if we were unsuccessful, then appeal. What we did instead was to roll over and hope the tribunal would tickle our tummy. When the victim's got a broke leg and will miss the rest of the season!!??

This has been a strategic blunder. A total stuff-up.

Strikes me Hawthorn just aren't bothered with defending these things hard. Perhaps it's part of the never complain never explain approach. Just cop your hit, don't make a big fuss and move on. Other players will take up the position and get experience while the suspended player gets in a good training block.

I think every club thinks they get treated harshly by the MRP but our evidence is overwhelming.

Even our recent fines have been crazy... Burgers fine when the other player put his head down when burgers came into tackle. Casboult leading with his head into Henderson as well.

Laughable that they grade shit based on outcome and not the actual incident in isolation. Injuries happen in football, are they going to start suspending players for standing on another players foot causing a busted ankle or when a players finger gets dislocated in a tackle. How about suspending players who are earning a large pay check for being bog standard (read: most of Carlton's list)?

From a quick google search, the last time he was suspended was in 2013. He missed 2013 Qualifying against Swans.

The clowns running the show have lost the feel for the game and have tried to apply too many stringent rules which has basically turned the game to sh!t and the AFL wonder why people are turning away from the game!

I shouldn't be surprised though, let's not forget the HFC is the only club to have a player suspended for 2 weeks for an attempted strike

Seriously, losing Howe will have minimal impact on us making finals. We only need to win three.
He should be eligible to play The first week of VFL finals so could be back if we make it.

He got a week for knocking Shane Edwards out in a bump in 2015. Should have got at least 2 for that one
