Am I the only one here who think's with an ounce of luck we can win the big one?
I know we are a pretty informed and educated bunch here on Big Footy concerning all things Kangaroos,But are we downplaying our chaces a bit to much?
Who knows what could happen with a little ounce of Luck!

Go Roos, Dare to Dream..............

Been thinking this since the start of the year
And still we think we can Win it :)

Would be Good to prove everyone wrong and Show them how Good of a side we really are

Go Kangas!!

It would take such a monumental turn around in form the world would instantly spin off it's axis with the cosmic shock and the we would all plunge into a never ending black hole.

But it would be worth it, the world ending and all.

This is the year it could definately happen... not a great deal of opposition...

WCE... can they play finals??? and if so can they win a Granny at the G???
Adelaide... not that good... but have they ever been???
St Kilda... surely they will implode the closer it gets to the Granny???
Sydney.... can they win a Granny at the G??? weren't able to in 96...
Brisbane... do they still have the hunger???
Geelong... looking to get better draft picks the longer the season goes...
Melbourne... see Geelong...
Fremantle... now that would be funny...
Bulldogs... see St Kilda...

but then it is three years ahead of schedule... :D :D

Let's be honest. All of us are secretly thinking about the same thing but some are too scared to admit it.

Now back to reallity. If the challenge of St Kilda doesn't bring the best out of the us, fair dinkum, the way things are going we may even struggle against Carlton...

This week defines us, We play well and beat the saints, i think we will make the PF maybe even GF... on the other hand if we loose, we will just make up the numbers, going out first or second weeks of the finals. So i'm saving my judgement for the weekend...

Lets not articulate it - it is secret shinboner business that should only be mentioned amongst the initiated!

once there... what happened in the home and away... means jack ********... :D :D

well I have been looking into flights over the last few days from London to arrive during Grand Final week.

Won't book until one second after the preliminary final finishes though.

Agree but I'd say it's the next 2 weeks that count. We have shown that we can match it with the 2 other top 4 teams but now we have to show we can win against a top 4 team. Get one of these 2 games and we are a good chance to get to the big one. I've already reserved a spot on my brothers floor!

Now look, it'd be great to make the GF & win a flag but do we have the skill level??? That is my greatest concern. Even on Sunday, several 30-40m passess just didn't hit the target & it put the next guy under the pump. BUT we do have The Shinboner Spirit.....

Fitness is not a problem, skill level maybe a bit below the top teams, but we make up for that with commitment and heart. I think our ability to stay focused for the entire game is our biggest weakness. Our gameplan is so finely balanced and requires full commitment for the entire game, that the players find it difficult to stay "up" for the full 120 minutes and have these little lapses in concentration at times. This leads to skill errors, defensive lapses and allows the opposition to control of the game for a period. I think if we can overcome this obstacle, we would be a serious contender for the flag, but after 19 rounds we still haven't found the answers. Hopefully finals football and the possibility of a Premiership is the spur the guys need to take the next step.

nice dream guys....

we beat a completley undermanned collingwood in the last minute of the game. what would have happened if they had rocca, tarrent, fraser, etc playing.

i dont quite think we are anywhere near ready yet.

It pains me to say it, but if North Melbourne ever needs some inspiration for 2005, they should probably look at Liverpool's Champions League campaign. The thieving, filthy, hub capstealing, bin dipping, granny stabbing, smack dealing, welfare addicted scouse bastards nearly got knocked out in the group stages, but in the knock out stages, they just took each match (and against some pretty damn good opposition) as it came and got through to the final - which they went on to win after trailing 3-0 at half-time.

This week will show where we are.

My greatest fear is to be blown off the park by them.

I want Turtle to be our 'Milne' this week and get his hand on the ball and kick some goals, not behinds.

Gaso

It's our HOME GAME also that may add some inspiration to our players to put it in all together. Don't throw out the idea of blowing the Saints off the park if things go to plan. Riewoldt can't be 100% after coming back 'early' from a collarbone and if push comes to shove then North have to play with some STING early to show we won't be pushed around. StK need to be rattled !!
StK backline can be as vunerable as Collingwood's if played with the same intensity when it's our momentum. Hoping the roadblock defensive move is utilised often to springboard our assault from HB.

true....
but still find it hard to be convinced that a goal win against an inexperienced, nothing to play for, team gives reason to dream for the ultimate..

if we beat the saints by a goal i will definitely start dreaming then....

Dean Laidley once said. "Every coach starts the year with the thought of a Premiership. If you don't, what are you doing here?"

I know everyone, including me, likes to analyze the competition, the ages, the talent and make an educated assumption of how the ladder and finals will pan out. And at the moment our inconsistancies weigh out our consistancies. We play delayed football and wait for challanges to arrise or a spark from Grant, Harvey and Wells before the rest of the side jumps up.

For what it is worth. I believe as long as we are in the 8, why not believe? Who cares about history, statistics blah blah. Aslong as our destiny is in our hands, and their is more than a 1% chance mathematically of making it, why not believe? It's a lot more enjoyable than being probable and analytical about football.

******** it. North Melbourne for the Premiership!
