Do you think recruiters would like to see that?

We know his forward ability and he may never be a full time mid, but the ability to pinch hit in the midfield at 181/183 if still growing would be a great asset at that size

Jack Delean has only played half a dozen games for South in the sanfl 18s this year averages would suggest no midfield time.

Where do you rate Sam Frangalas (Stingrays) and George Stevens (Greater Western) and what types of players do you project these boys to be like Davo?

Looking at our 2nd/3rd round picks for these boys

Vic Country has 3 more games to play, so hopefully we see them do their thing, Frangalas moves well for a big strong mid, disposal and decision making is a bit of a concern, Stevens has played well as a defender this year and 2 years ago looked good as a forward, his issue is his inbetween height and both players are strong bodied developed guys with little physical development left, it's hard to know what AFL Clubs think about these guys.

Is that rough 15 the top 15 you have at the moment? Or

That 15 is about right, I would add Demattia for Read, but I can see why others would have Read in there.

I will have to rewatch some games to see if C O'Sullivan deserves to be there as well, but he has great traits and moves well for a tall and I think even though he hasn't blown me away, he has the tools to succeed in the future.

Hugo Garcia looks a likely type, good size. Patrick Said is another I like the look of. Luke Trainor was one of Sandringham's best today imho, thoughts on him please mate ?

Possible? 2023 - H.Reid, Walter, Curtin, McKercher, Watson, Caddy, Demattia, Edwards, Delean, O'Sullivan (maybe Duursma/Tholstrup/Rogers/Sanders?)

Hugo Garcia is a good burst player although I will be surprised if he gets a shot at the next level, could be a long shot to be a late/rookie pick, but I believe he missed VM selection which doesn't help

Patrick Said and Luke Trainor are for 2024 draft, Trainor is more talented and consistent imo, both stood out as talents in the u16s, but Trainor has become a best dozen player at Sandy for most of the year whereas Said has been up and down in form in his underage season.

Prior to the champs game today, I just thought I would mention Matt Carroll who looked good previously and I don't think has been talked about much, he seems like a decent defender, moves well, good height, seems to be a staple in the VM team, interested to see if he can continue his good form.

What does it genuinely achieve?

It doesn’t “hurt” Gold Coast.

They’ve got enough points in this year’s draft, and future points in next year’s draft to match a bid in the top 3, a second bid in the top 10, and a third bid in the top 15, for their 3 academy kids.

They’re unlikely planning on taking any kids from the open draft pool, so you’re not wiping them out of the draft.

More likely they’ll round out their draft with more academy kids late in the draft, and/or rookie draft.

Plus they have more talented academy kids in next year’s draft, and in the 2025 draft as well.

It's all about what Eagles want to do. Bidding on Walter simply means they don't get the media hype of taking the No1 draft pick. If they don't care about that, and either think Walter is the top talent or want to bleed GCS of maximum points, then they should bid on Walter.

After all the doom n gloom this season, West Coast would want the No.1 pick to walk through their doors to cheer up the supporters. Harley is primed for it, I think they'll go with his selection.

Harley doesn't seem like the absolute lock for pick 1 now compared to this time last year, or even 3 months ago.

I haven't seen anyone step up and challenge Harley Reid from open draft. If it's between Harley and Walter (knowing Walter will get matched by Gold Coast regardless of where the bid came) West Coast is likely to go with Harley.

Last pick 1 for West Coast was Michael Gardiner in 1996. They might be keen to get the pick 1 press this time around.
