Paul Dano cast as Riddler.

Definitely didn’t see that coming, but a very welcoming choice.

Prefer this than casting Jonah Hill

Hill would have made an alright Penguin. I am also ok with this Riddler casting.

Reeves wanted hill to be penguin hill wanted to be riddler and not type casted as the fat guy

Eventually he agreed to play penguin only if the studio paid him double what there paying rob the studio said no and he left

Thats better than Jonah Hill imo.

Great actor and up there with Jeffrey Wright as the best casting choice for this movie.

This is shaping up very nicely. They have pretty much nailed every role.

My only concern is Kravitz but we will see how she goes. Feel De Armas would have been better but its done now.

I know it’s not always as simple as the quality of the cast = a great movie, but so far so good with the casting choices. Just about nailing every one thus far.

It’s always a concern. Spider-Man 3 and Amazing Spider-Man 2 blew it spectacularly trying it.

I suppose the Nolan Batman films often had a number of villians (ie Szaz, Falcone, Al Ghul and Scarecrow in BB and Bane, Catwoman, Talia, Daggett, Scarecrow and Al Ghul in TDKR) and it worked where some were just cameos.

There’s some suggestion that the usual Rogue’s gallery aren’t the real enemies in this one so I guess we give them the benefit of the doubt and see.

I’ve only seen the pilot but I was disappointed there was little development/back story of her character it was just I’ve discovered the bat cave and now I’m batwoman.

He did and I suspect that’s what will happen here. The rogues will appear but there’ll be a big bad in the background.

If it’s a team of villains I suspect it will suck but let’s see.

There’s a vast difference between the villains you mentioned and the three being mentioned for the new film. Riddler, Penguin and Catwoman are A-list villains that deserve significant screen time and development. Hopefully one is the main bad and the others are laying groundwork for future films.

Wouldn’t say it’s a vast difference. Bane and Selina are A grade for me. And after Year One, and New Years Evil actually, I’ve considered Crane to be right up there as well in the top tier. Anyway, it’s getting into subjective territory and splitting hairs whether they’re all A grade or not.

The point being, it’s hardly anything to be concerned about. I’m often reminded many here are not comic book readers so I can see on the surface why it’s a potential issue. I’d suggest if you’re going to foray into the comic world, Knightfall and The Long Halloween are great starts. Brilliant stories predicated by the usage of an entire gallery of villains in various shapes and forms.

I’m encouraged by what I’m reading about Reeves’ story being conceptualised in that kind of world, would be amazing to see. As I continually say, this is a non issue for me.
