Deepest list

And are many of these highly performing players playing for Box Hill proven at AFL level? If no then what are you arguing about.

We won the VFL with youth in 2012. Can't say we have the deepest list. Won't know how many of these guys will go once they start getting consistent games and once they no longer have the champs like Hodge, Mitchell, Gibson etc to pick up the slack.

North took thier best youngster coming through in Anderson. Obviously he went to North for the chance to play in a Premiorship.

Where did I say all our kids were guns?

Where did I say that you can't replace champions?

In fact, where did I even say that we had the best depth, or even better than average depth?

My point, and I am sick of repeating it, is simply that you cannot measure depth by the number of players on a club list who have played AFL games. And I think that I have proven why that is the case.

Why is that so difficult for some people to comprehend?

Ok man chill out. I offered a comment.

Anderson would never of had career at hawthorn, his body wont let him become that inside midfielder we originally where grooming him for.

we dont need our best youngest to be another Wing/HFF/FP. we already have Bruest, Rioli, Hill, Smith, Hurtang....

Although in time he would of replaced Puopolo. it in no way helps us cover the oncoming losses across the park.

thats why we were open to trade him, ofc only for the right price.

I assume they came from somewhere...

Geelong won a GF after Ablett left. Was he replaced, or was he not a champion?

We did okay after Buddy left. Not a champion?

Which player did we replace Ablett with? Is he a better player than Ablett? Which player did you replace Franklin with and is he better than Franklin?

Over time it matters.

The Hawks had traded him because he wanted to leave. Yeah he'll be a better player then poo. He's only young. To say he can't play midfield is ridiculous, especially if you consider Isaac Smith wasn't even worth drafting till he was 21. You guys were fapping about him till he saw the light.

In the short term both Geelong and Hawthorn won a flag the very year after they lost their supposedly best player. And Hawthorn were even stronger the year after that, and in all likelihood will be even stronger this year as well.

Geelong hasnt gone in the same direction, but that has far more to do with having a mediocre coach who really seems out of his depth when it comes to picking players.

You guys got bloody lucky you had so many Father / Sons at a time when it cost basically nothing to pick them up.

Yeah we got lucky but Hawthorn are just great  And stronger this year of course. Carry on champ.

Nah, people were starting to wonder why he always played like shit in the AFL. Dude is nearly 22 and is still built like a twig, wanted him as an inside mid but the only place he could play for us is forward, but he can't push out Rioli, Breust or Puopolo. He was starting to feel like another Ellis or a Young in the end albeit a hundred games less for us and without a medal, a team like North would cream themselves over our failures though I guess *half joking*.
I actually like the way he plays though, all effort but still classy. I hope he does well.

Of course the fact that two thirds of our 2011 premiership side have since moved on has nothing to do with it.

Scott hasnt done a very good job replacing the players either. Dumps half a dozen so he can get Dangerfield.
Dumps 6. How so?

We lost 11 players and some of those were out of our control. We got 3 other players btw so not just PD.

Pushed 3 cooked veterans. Lost Simpson as a UFA. Walker and Jansen sought greener pastures. Hartman fell out of love with the game. Rivers retired as did McIntosh. Toohey retired due to a heart condition. Blease retired due to concussion.

P-Nasty is only on 800k. Hardly the wage of 6 players.

Veterans have $110k of their salary not included in the cap.

So if they were on $200k to $300k each then it would be about right.
There's no way they'd be on 200-300k.

All AFL clubs have 15 players on their list that are what I call just hopefull AFL players, just potential and nothing more. Not proven even at second tier level.
So you can really only look at depth over the top 25 players on a list. The rest generally don't deserve to be on a best of the best list which is what I thought the AFL was.

If Anderson was Hawthorn's best youngster we would not have been so open to him leaving.

I've been away sorry for the late reply. You have completely miss understood. I am and always will be "flapping about him" he is quality and was arguably our best youngster not in our 22. You will cone to realise the ongoing injury concerns he has, his injuries hit home personally since I suffer very similar issues. His 2nd half at box Hill he was a hff who had short spurts on ball. That's where he would of played if he where to get games in the near future at hawthorn end of story.

Also he was untouchable at one point in time list structure wise he was expendable in the end, obviously I and the club would of pefferd to keep him and would of if a 1st round pick wasn't offered up he was contacted and knew there was a chance he would be at hawthorn in 2016
