After intensely watching the game on sunday vs west coast there was many positives to come out of the game, but i also thought there was a some negatives. West coast were making many mistakes and there pressure in the 2nd half dropped off, so my question is how come we lacked accuracy with our delivery to the forward line? I had to say this but Roberston played a great game, but why can't he kick it to a leading forward? Sunday showed what kind of player he is, every time he took a mark 50 - 60 metres out he just tried to kick long to the goal square and ignored the leads of holland and neitz. Our midfield is still scrappy and i feel lacking just that professional touch. But we have one of the greatest assests in football at the moment and thats confidence and momentum. Carn the Dees ! Lets go down to the cattery and give them a woopin...!

I dont know how many games you have seen of Melbourne this year but it seems to me the game plan is to get the ball in long to the square. Its not just Robertson doing it. And I'm getting quite sick of people bagging him too. He can't do a thing right. he's just played a brilliant game and he still cops it.

the delivery to neitx in the last 2 weeks has been average but luckily others have been standing up

it will be interesting to see who can stand up this week if neitz has an off day vs scarlett

Why are we complaining about long and direct footy????

Has anyone noticed how our forward line sets up? straight down the spine. So a long bomb into the 50 and somewhere near the center of the ground will atleast create a contest. It also creats space for leads... I think it's whats called percentage footy... averaging over 50 entrys into 50 a match... if 1/5th of these gets marked (3 strong marks.... nietz, holland, miller) then it's a shot on goal easy as that. if another 1/5th (ie: greeny, bruce, yze) are shots from the middle and another 1/5th (flash, robo, army and a few of the afore mentioned) can be crumbed then thats 30 shots on goal. sounds fair prity reasonable? I think it sounds a Buckley put it on the footy show on Thursday night as 'fool proof' long, direct, play the percentages.

Not to mention that the long and direct play leaves room for flash, robo and army to pull out something special (like they all did on Sunday.... army's socer goal was a gem).

I for one am not! :)

Some call it bombing (why not bomb when you have Neitz, Holland, Robbo, Miller & the crumbers there?) others call it moving the ball quickly. Last year we waited far too long to kick it to our one & only target, the "Pinpoint:rolleyes: " passes to him usually bounced anyway on the odd occasion that the opposition flood hadn't drowned him.

However I agree our midfield is "Scrappy" & that's just what we need a SCRAP! Put Yze, TJ & Heff in there & see how far our slick midfield get, they'll look great with it, but without blokes like Thommo, Macca, Godders & Read in there winning it their skills will go to waste. We have to keep the balance right, with workers & finishers.
