Definitely good news for all involved and it shows us supporters that, off the field, we are on the right track. We worked our backsides off to improve and it's paying dividends.

With our sponsors already signed on and memberships up already compared to last year things are looking good. :thumbsu:

Well done to the club, and especially to Cameron Schwab. Up and up we go.

We also have more staff too. Even though its a small profit, as long as we end up in front I'll take that any day.
This is the main point.

I don't care if our operating profit is $1 year in year out as long as our growth in operations is sustainable.

I really hope the Casey initiative really takes hold in time and we no longer need to rely on AFL and MCC funding to put us in front. But I'm only able to say that now since we've taken massive strides under the Stynes admin.

Well done to Cameron, but I really rate McLardy.

Every club gets money from the AFL and many get it form other sources ours is the MCC and foundation hero's,

Further more it isnt what puts us in profit, the club will have budgeted for these amounts or very close to them, and spent it, all these handouts and fund and donations do is increase our FD spending.

I will think of it as in we increase our spend by the 1.5 Million we get or so maybe 1 Million or close from the foundation heros and handouts ect each year, then the next year we actually earn that money and the next amount of handouts ect increase our FD spend again.

I still have a lot of worries about the long term viability of our great club, but this is a pleasing result, given what it could have been after the disaster of the season we've had. Lets hope the extra money we've put into the football department translates into on-field success, which in turn should bolster our coffers through increased membership/sponsorship etc.

Anyone else think we may have made a small loss, and just shifted some things around (all legally of course) to make sure we are in the black? $20,000 statutory just seems a little too convenient for me.

Most likely, but how significant is a small loss even when you increase your overall spend by 1.5 Million for the year?

Yep agreed. And I fully support the decision if the club did dress it up.

Its interesting to see that we are not trailing as much in football department spending as the media and other supporters would have you believe. We are closer to the higher spending clubs, than the lower spending ones. Looking at the thread of club finances by The Wookie for 2011, I wonder how far off the big boys we will be for 2012.

Really quite incredible. No one should underestimate just how good that news is for us. We've been through such trying times (one of the most trying times in our history) and still we made a profit.

Things will turn around on field soon enough. Members just have to keep doing what they're doing....supporting the club.

Well done to everyone involved and shove that news right up the haters :D !!

great news for the club, although i'd like to see how they have accounted for the money raised at the foundation hero's dinner. If its included then I worry about our ability to service our growing footy department spend YoY.

True, although hopefully the expansion in the FD will improve the on-field situation for the club which should increase membership/sponsorship and make the club less reliant on the Foundation Heroes etc. Even though it is only a smallish profit, at least it's a bloody profit!
