Nick Rodda- Already big and strong and looks a smart/reliable KD. Will take less time to develop if Brown still wants to leave next year which is handy.
I know near nothing about this draft but I refuse to believe that a near AFL ready KPB will be available pick 40 odd. He must have some major deficiencies.

how come!
Because versus (latin) means against (English). You can't "against" a team, but you can play them. But, when describing a fixture, in its proper construction, versus is perfectly acceptable, West Coast vs (against) Hawthorn.
And no, 'verse' isn't right either, that is what is found in a song.

That's not what he said.

Lack of endurance, short of pace and not that offensive.

He tested pretty well for pace, top 12 at draft camp. Not sure about engine but at FB its probably not a big deal. I agree he is not that offensive and has not much utility either. He is a one-dimensional defender who looks like the next Ben Rutten/Eric Mackenzie etc

Except he can kick. Which is why i think he is a chance of developing a offensive game. You sure he tested top 12? in what category? He appears a little slow and cumbersome (not terribly so).

20m sprint.

My experience is that if a guy tests fast but acts slow then when they get to AFL level they dont have the ability to read the play. While it can be taught he will never be elite at it and as such it then makes rodda's ability to kick pointless as he will always be at a major disadvantage over his opponent. Quality key defenders have to be good at one of two things. They either have to be better at reading the play than their opposition or better body to body and athletically than their opposition. The first group are the brian lakes, matthew scarletts and dustin fletchers of the competition. The second group is the darren glass' of the competition. If a key defender doesn't fit into either group they will at the very best end up being a role player and much more likely fail to make the grade. Brown has ability because he has or at least used to have better agility than most key forwards, Mackenzie reads the play well defensively, is stronger and athletically is roughly as good as most gorillas. Schofield has huge potential because he can read the play, is offensive and is better athletically than all bar franklin. I don't see the same ability in Rodda.

That's a rather long winded post which quite honestly struggles to articulate a relevant point. He is certainly at least as quick as Mackenzie and probably even bigger at 98kgs. In the age of big power forwards I think big bodied defenders are a valuable commodity even if they are not great football players.

'Grats, which uni did you study at? Hoping to join the teaching profession next year too.

Curtin, and that is great news. A very noble profession.

Oh, drafting and trading and sheet. Rodda!

Exactly. He's almost 100kg's now and isn't dominating against 17 year olds. He isn't as good at reading the play as mackenzie or as agile (there is a big difference between straight line speed and being able to turn, again ask ash smith lol)

Kind of hard to get excited about a bloke who sounds like a talent yet will somehow last to pick 46. Either he has some legitimate question marks on his ability or he won't last to our first pick

One thing I noticed, not sure if its been mentioned: Blayne Wilson is going to Cambodia so he must have survived the chop and been given an extension.

When we cut weedon and strijk I think that gave us enough list spae to se 3 pics plus upgrade dick. Wasn't expecting anymore delistings

But I guess this does confirm that Wilson is safe fr at least another year

Can't see why we wouldn't keep him, has great upside. Hope they're done with the whole trying him out as a KPD thing though.

He's an awesome kick. Would be the best of our HBF's not in the team in that regard now stevo is gone.

He's not at the level of Hurn's.

EDIT: Was that a ninja edit or did I just read it wrong the first time? My bad. :p

Read wrong the first time. I rate Hurn top 3 in the comp for kicking and Wilson's kicking not that good!!! He may be the second best for HBF in our squad though. I really rate Schofield's kicking though.
