Do we need another AFL Club or are there too many as it is?

Given how few AFL draftable players come out of SA a supposed AFL heartland I think you should be grateful to the VFL boys club for churning out all these top class youngsters you and the competition get to benefit from.

I'm sure SA and WA would settle to retain their own states players where other teams can take what they don't want and the 10 Vic clubs take their own talent

Other than best wishes and he's a great player deseving respect, what can you say. Most people are too decent to troll the thread or start a shitfight.

Exactly. Most threads which get a lot of responses have differing views.

No thread on Roughys diagnosis was going to draw any conflict or negative 'oh shit Hawthorn might make top 4 now this sucks' kind of views.

No we need to first cull teams in Victoria ... and the money we save on AFL distributions put towards a boutique stadium in Melbourne.

MCG - Melbourne, Collingwood

Etihad - Essendon, Carlton

3rd Stadium - Richmond, Hawthorn

Merge two of the following sides together Bulldogs, St Kilda & North ... the 3rd side goes to Tasmania

I'm.curious as to why the Dees are assumed to be at the MCG. I'm not being a smartarse, my background isn't in Melborne and I reside in Sydney. I'm genuinely curious.
Is it some sort of respect for the oldest AFL club, and one of oldest sporting clubs in the world? Is it becuase a lot of the their supporters are MCG members? Or some sort of locality thing?

Marketing for the AFL for me ... should be the most powerful brand in the AFL (along with Sydney) ... globally it is seen as the sporting Capital of the world.

However, they have had a "toxic" turbulent last 10-15 years ... but the AFL has stepped in now no longer listens to the "olde bitter boys in the cheap seats" - AFL doesn't even give its members a vote at their own AGMS.

However, the "old boys" are so busy arguing with themselves the penny hasnt dropped yet.

The AFL gave some of us all we ever asked for and more ... hence the positive bright future. Glad to say I worked there during the takeover by the AFL ... it was poetry in motion and went like clockwork.

Merge Gold Coast with Brisbane (Queensland Suns), bring back Fizroy Lions. For Queensland split games between Gabba and Metric on Stadium. Team from Tassie to play at Bludstone Arena while North Melbourne plays 3 games at Manuka Oval.

With the Richmond and Hawthorn having memberships over 70 000 it is very unlikely they will be playing abywhere other than the MCG (apart from the Hawks games in Tasmania)

Melbourne are the club of the MCC . Their origin began with the cricket club & ground.

All other Vic clubs originated from their suburb.

Think the idea would be more like ... the 3rd stadium would be rotational .... interstate teams in Victoria dont draw large crowds irrespective if they are playing Richmond & Hawthorn.

So basically West Coast, Fremantle, Port, Adelaide. Gold Coast, Brisbane, Sydney, GWS when they come to Victoria ... they would play at the 3rd stadium.

So, yes when Richmond & Hawks are playing another Victorian side ,,, Yes, game would be at the MCG.
