Yeah it was a tremendous effort by S4 to bounce back like that after some of his sloppy positioning that got him & his teammates killed a few times. Dendi kept him at bay for most of early to mid game. Still think Na'Vi were unlucky to lose it, so many "what ifs" moments.

Massive one when Dendi decided to Rosh when he was basically the only Na'vi hero in the vicinity.
Had they got the Aegis then the game would've almost certainly have been over 15mins before it was.

I've started to get into this big time. Only played a few games but for newbs I'd suggest play the training, play a few games against bots then watch some tutorial videos before playing online. Also pick Lich. Has an ultimate that is just cast and forget and does real damage in the right circumstance, sacrifice means you won't run out of mana and you can really help your team by auto-denying.

This playlist is really good with short videos that don't go too in depth but still give you the gist of everything.

Also take advantage of the builds feature. Look up how to use it, basically gives you advice on what skills to level up first, what items to get IN GAME.

I haven't really come across the annoying community just yet. Most people who are much more advanced than me are accommodating.

Phantom lancer for mine, can easily get out of tight situations.

Hate when all of a sudden you have 5 players on your tail :(.

I've always found the best way to get a feel of the game was to play against people. You generally get a much better picture on what route to take when you're ganging, knowing how, or where to position/hide in neuts, so that you have a higher chance in killing the opposition cause they don't know you are lurking around them, and knowing where to put your observer wards down (If you're playing a support role). The only problem with this is probably being teamed up with d***heads but having to tolerate them for the learning experience is well worth it.

Yeah, this was pretty much where Alliance broke even after a slow start. It felt like Na'Vi still could have taken the game if all of them carried a TP scroll when they were pushing for mid rax. Although some of the pub games after TI 3 were surprisingly fun despite there being one of BH, NP or Alche in nearly every game.

If you are starting out, I strongly suggest playing against bots. Mainly because in pubs people are just ruthless towards beginners. Even though bots are quite a bit easier than humans, atleast you don't cop the abuse them comes along with pubs. You won't get as disheartened as quickly. The second massive tip I can give is try to make freinds with people in game. Gives you people who are around your level to consistently play with, and you will get a lot better a lot quicker. It's also a better experience playing with people you know. Thirdly if you are starting out, try playing heroes that are just supports. Even if you play badly as a support as long as you continue warding and buying dust etc, your team will not hate on you that much. Besides this your team as a whole will do a lot better. Wards (or vision) win games. It's that simple. Watching commentaries also helps a lot. Watching pro players gives you a good insight in to what it takes to become a decent DOTA player.

The last tip I would give sucks. But it is also probably the tip that will help you the most. Re-watch games that you have played in. This can be time consuming and quite boring, but you would honestly be surprised with how much it will make you improve. Watching the mistakes you made, where you could have done better etc is all really good.

Anyway if you guys want to hit me up any time feel free. My name is DHRD. I consistently play in the very high skill level bracket (as checke dy dotabuff) and so would be more than happy to help you guys out.

I'm just starting (8 wins now) and i haven't really had too much problems community wise, Just gotta make sure to let people know early so they don't expect too much.

Hey mate, noticed you added me. If I'm online and not in a game feel free to invite us to a party. Happy to give you a few pointers if we play some games together

Just started playing this yesterday, wasn't that much into it (played lots of wc3) but then I got my first kill.. And now addicted.

Should have run when I had the chance:oops:

man I love this game. Don't get to play as much as I'd like with work and family, but it's so damn addictive and there's always something more to learn.

Brood Mother is my favourite hero right now, rarely lose a match playing her in a decent team.

laaaaame lol. get a real hero ;)

Really to be a top player (if that's what you want) you need to learn them all. I watched the international final game 5 yesterday, they are remarkable players.... can't believe a computer game tournament can attract a $2mil US prize pool!

Not sure how he goes in real high level play.
He's terrible in high level :p

That said, because he is never seen he can be a situational pick in high level pubs when they don't have any pure damage/much escape/no need for AoE/lacking disables. I.e. hardly ever. But he can still wreck face and he can be fun to play!

Get that armlet+treads and see where the world takes you.

Yeh I don't play high level, never have, never will, never really want to. But boy do I love smashing random 5v5s haha.

Probably not too big. Mainly value adjustments and spawn locations as opposed to new spells/animations. Just the adjustments (especially to jungle and xp spread = huge meta wise)
